Thank you Serena & Lily for gifting us the fabric for these chairs!
When we moved into our third house, I purchased a pair of spindle chairs for our living room (FYI Serena & Lily carries beautiful spindle chairs!) I absolutely adore this classic style and they’re actually incredibly comfortable!
We’ve had these chairs for over five years now and I was ready for a change and wanted to add some color to our relatively neutral living room in our new home.
My best friend Candice texted me one day about having these chairs reupholstered (we have the same ones!) and hers looked so amazing, I decided to go for it!
I knew I wanted blue and ordered samples from Serena & Lily, since they offer their fabrics for purchase by-the-yard.
I ended up selecting their Perennials Basketweave fabric in Coastal Blue. I love the bright blue color, texture of the fabric and that since it’s a performance fabric woven from 100% solution-dyed acrylic, it’s UV, mold, mildew and stain resistant. In a home with children and pets, performance fabrics are always a must!

I’m so thrilled with the final look – here is a quick before and after:

Quite an amazing transformation, right?! I had them re-upholstered locally by Castillian Upholstery & Home Decor. The cost was $198 per chair and I needed a total of 8 yards of fabric (4 per chair).

You’ll notice that the cushions are much more substantial now – they’re even more comfortable to sit on than before! You can shop all of Serena & Lily’s by-the-yard fabrics here, and check out all of the S & L items in our home here.
What do you think of our spindle chair transformation?!

Your spindle chairs look fabulous in blue! I also love the cheetah pillows on the chairs; can you share a link please? I spied your sweet pup on the top of your sofa pillow; my Cavashon does the same thing—it’s her favorite perch!

I’ve always loved those chairs when I see them in anyone’s house. I have to say, they look gorgeous in that fabric. I also want to say, I appreciate you saying what you paid to have them reupholstered. I have no idea what something like that would cost and you telling us makes me realize it’s not as expensive as I thought. It’s like you have two new chairs.
Where did you buy the chairs? I thought I remembered seeing a similar post about alternative to the S& L chairs.
they are old and no longer sold, but here are other options: https://www.veronikasblushing.com/2021/03/where-to-buy-spindle-chairs.html you can also try my search bar if you can’t find something and need a quicker response 🙂
