Is designer denim “worth it?”
Now that I’m older and a mom, I’ve come to realize how important it is to invest in pieces that make me look and feel really good – so I do splurge on designer denim occasionally (I also still purchase affordable denim!)
AG, FRAME and Rag & Bone have been my favorite brands so far. I find that when I invest in a few pairs that really fit, wash and wear well, I buy less denim overall – I only have about a dozen total and that counts my designer, non-designer and colored denim (like white and pink). I know people with whole sections of their closets devoted to denim, but since I can’t wear them to work, I’m so selective about them.
Today I’m sharing three pairs of designer denim from Rag & Bone and sharing my notes on the style, fit and feel of each pair. Nordstrom sells a ton of my favorite designer denim and designer brands, so it’s a go-to any time I’m looking to splurge a little. Nordstrom also offers free shipping and returns, so you can try everything on at home and really decide if an item is right for you!
Nina High Waist Ankle Skinny Jeans by RAG & BONE
*I recommend sizing down a size in Rag & Bone denim if you’re between sizes.
I’ve been really into high-waisted styles this year and these are so flattering and I love the super light/faded color. They’re SO soft and super stretchy, so they’re incredibly comfortable on. As a mom, I like jeans I can bend and move in – these are so fantastic for summer and I adore the raw ankle hem.

Nina High Waist Crop Skinny Jeans by RAG & BONE
These jeans have the greatest button-front detail which I’ve come to love this season. They’re also a high-waisted style, so they work incredibly well with cropped and shorter-waisted tops (that are everywhere this summer!) They’re a cropped style and have a raw hem. What Rag & Bone does best is create a super soft jean – like you’ve washed them so many times they just feel buttery smooth and soft!
Cate Skinny Jeans by RAG & BONE
I adore the fit of these jeans! They’re the perfect length if you’re tall and they’re an excellent mid rise fit. I also love the medium wash – they go with everything and can be dressed up or down! These ones have a traditional hem, so I see them as a little more of a “formal” denim since they also don’t have any rips (which I love, but it’s important to have one “clean” pair). I really feel this style elongates my legs and is incredibly flattering.
