Happy happy Friday my friends!

Stop everything and let’s take a moment to discuss these white jeans. I have a pair of (pricey) white AG jeans that I love, but I wanted a high-waisted pair since a lot of tops right now are more of a cropped style. I decided to take a chance on this Old Navy pair – I liked the buttons and the raw hem especially (these go up to just below my belly button and I have a very long torso). Mine are a size 4 and they fit TTS. The fit is flattering, they have stretch, so they feel comfy on and the raw hem is such a great touch! I got them on sale and highly recommend them for your summer wardrobe!
I also found a similar style jacket to the Madewell field jacket and ladies, this one is IT! It may sound crazy to buy a jacket in the summer but a) it’s lightweight and b) it’s so so so cold inside anywhere in Texas because people crank the AC like the world is ending. It fits large- mine is an XS, so size down at least a size. It’s the closest one I can find to the Madewell one. Buy it here! In my search, I also found this one and this one that are super similar as well! Madewell also released this field jacket, but it’s a little shorter in length and I wanted a longer one.

You know how people enter contests but then think in their heads “I never win anything!” I was one of those people. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I got an email from the team at Garmin letting me know I won one of their smartwatches! I entered their contest at the Rewarstyle conference a couple of months back and I couldn’t believe they drew my name! I go way back with Garmin – my first ever GPS car unit was by Garmin and I relied on it heavily when I moved to Houston. We even brought it with us when we travelled back to Toronto to use in our rental car (because international data fees are no joke!) My current vehicle has a built-in GPS, so I hadn’t used my Garmin GPS in some time. Prior to attending the conference, I wasn’t even aware Garmin made other products.
I had a little trepidation about wearing a smartwatch again. I used to wear a FitBit (when I was working out at a gym with a trainer – before BBG, P.volve and starting to live a healthier lifestyle) and it made me a little bit obsessive. I would always check it to see how many steps I had taken (btw, the 10k steps thing was a marketing gimmick all along) and with a job where I work a lot on the computer, I was left feeling discouraged a lot. I also didn’t like the look of it. A black band with a digital screen was kind of blah. When I saw the Garmin vivomove HR watches at the conference, I didn’t realize they were smart watches because they look like normal fashion watches. Remember my Michael Kors watch? (OG readers will!) I wore it daily and loved it (I think I stopped wearing it while pregnant and never got into the habit again).
I selected their rose gold vívomove® HR smart watch with a white leather band and also got a white silicone band since I wanted something that could withstand hot summer days and my workouts, etc. Because it looks like a regular watch, I don’t find myself checking it all the time like I did with my FitBit. I have the Garmin app on my phone and I mostly check the sleep data because I find it fascinating and my sleep has been odd lately. I like that I can look down at the watch and it will show me the time in a digital format (because does anyone ever read actual clocks anymore now that we have iPhones?) and it also tells me the date (I never know what day it is, ever, and rely 100% on my calendar for all important things). The Garmin watch has a ton of features (including being able to see your texts, like an Apple watch) but with a more “watch-y” look (I realize that’s not a word). Kevin has an Apple watch and loves it and I’ve considered getting one, but I always felt like I’d get sick of wearing a watch that looked more tech-y than watch-like. Anyway, that was quite the ramble and I’ll update y’all on how I like it as I continue to wear it and learn about its features.

In your weekly “what I ordered on amazon” update, I ordered:
- This home décor book, recommended by interior designer Olivia Brock
- This children’s book on empathy
- This green and white printed mini dress (see pic below!) for our vacation (how cute are the tie shoulder straps)
- A one piece swan rashguard swimsuit for Harper
- A $1 pearl velvet headband (someone I follow on IG said they’re actually good quality!)
- This new CoverGirl mascara and this natural detangling spray for Harper (it has a great EWG rating and we’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and it’s great!)
- After this week’s nail polish post, a reader recommended I try this CND base coat and this CND topcoat, so I ordered both of those as well!

Target is always a go-to spot for home décor, kids clothes and much more. I made an order this week and wanted to share the items I got: these amazing ombre striped beach towels for just $10 (the color combo is amazing!), these seersucker swim trunks for Lincoln and three pairs of sandals for Linc (these, these and these) because he is super picky about shoes and I want to have different options to see which ones he finds most comfortable! I’m also loving this sign you can hang in your home, this white dress for girls, these $6 coral striped beach towels and these $13 Birkenstock dupes.

Loved the NYT article, promptly tweeted and posted on FB, its a struggle I’ve had for almost 50 years. Would love to go out with girlfriends to eat and have someone order a cheeseburger, myself included. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for reading Susie! I order cheeseburgers all the time – it’s all about balance. I’m glad the article resonated and hope we can all work towards somehing better.
Hi! I am a long time reader also from Toronto and I just love your blog and Instagram 🙂 I too am tall (5’10) with long legs and wondered – did you buy the tall size in the Old Navy white jeans or the regular? Both are available and just wondered what you did. They look great on you by the way!
Thank you so much!
Alison
Hi! Thanks for commenting! I got the regular so that they’d have the ankle fit 🙂
