Happy Monday!
Thank you to the over 480 of you (wowza!) who took the time to complete my reader survey! I’ll share a summary of the feedback in an upcoming post. I appreciate both the extremely kind and candid comments I recieved.
Many of you requested that I show more outfits that I wear to work— and truth be told, I wear most of the items you see on my blog to the office as well— I just pair them with dress pants or a pencil skirt to switch up the look (and add heels, most of the time). I’m going to make more of an effort to shoot my outfits styled for the office as well.
I just got this cross front tee and styled it for the office and weekend. It’s super soft and comes in three colors (I sized up to a medium on this one). Apologies in advance for the lighting on some of these. We shot right at the height of the sun shining down on our porch.
cross front tee | sunglasses (more karen walker here) | nude heels | scarf | earrings | similar bag ( more pink bags here and here and here | black pencil skirt (love this one too and it’s under $70! More similar options here as well)
Here I added my beloved cropped suede jacket. I’ve been wearing this as I head into the office on cooler days and love it!
I also styled it with my favorite skinnies and some leopard heels.
I hope you have a great week!
What size is the jacket? Thanks!
Mine is a size small!
Do all bloggers get lists of things to highlight? I follow only a few “fashion” blogs (yours is hands down my favorite because I LOVE the lifestyle posts!) and it seems like everyone always recommends the same 5 things. I’ve seen this shirt a bunch, and the infamous booties. Does Nordstrom pick specific items for bloggers to tout? Or is this just a fashion coincidence? And, while you look AMAZING, it would be awesome to have items sometimes that could camouflage a mom tummy.
Hi Rachel,
No, we never get a list of what to promote (I am friends with a lot of bloggers and feel confident saying this because none of us have ever gotten a list of items to promote). This is not a sponsored post, I buy whatever I like with my own money (even when the post is sponsored, I pick out what I like and pay for it with my own money). Certain items are popular because they are simple, easy to wear and priced well. The BP line in particular at Nordstrom sells really well because items are trendy and at a much lower price point than designer stuff. I feel I share a ton of outfits that are friendly to a mom tummy since I mostly wear looser and flowy tops and sweaters. I rarely wear form fitting clothes and this top is loose on the bottom. I also have to dress for my body and buy what I like and feel looks good on my body. I hope this answers your questions!
The top and black skirt went from okay to wow with that cropped jacket!
I was one of the ones who requested more work wear posts as I work in a more professional/conservative environment. I love this post!! The shirt is not something I would have thought to style for work but it looks great and I love seeing how you would wear it on the weekend as well! Can’t wait to see more of these types of posts in the future 🙂
Thank you Katie! I’m working now to always style the outfit for work and weekend (when applicable). I was worried this top would be a little low cut but it honestly wasn’t! It doesn’t show any cleavage on me (which for me personally is a “no” for the office) so I loved that I can wear it for work and weekend.
I think I was of the mindset that my readers could just “imagine” whatever I showed styled with a pencil skirt or dress pants but I’m realizing now that people actually want to see it— makes sense!
Thank you so much for the quick reply. Was not trying to critique (at all) – more just lamenting that I have yet to rock anything that isn’t a tunic. 🙂 I adore your blog and look forward to it all the time. Good content and adorable kids!
Thank you so much Rachel! Appreciate your kind words 🙂
