How to Style Button-Up Shirts: Plaid & Gingham Two Ways

There’s nothing more timeless and versatile than button-up shirts. They’re something you’ll wear year after year and stick around in your closet. I wear button-up shirts to work a lot because they’re easy to pair with pants or a skirt and can be worn tucked-in or un-tucked. They’re great as a stand-alone piece or layered under blazers and cardigans and I’ve also enjoyed pairing statement necklaces with them, especially around the holidays— it’s such a pretty look!

Today I’m sharing one of my favorite plaid shirts. Did you know that Nordstrom now carries select items from J.Crew? I was surprised and excited to learn this since it means I can order J.Crew items with free shipping and not have to meet an order minimum!

I paired this shirt with my trusty AG super skinny legging jeans in black (they’re still on sale for 33% off!), a new wool hat with the cutest tassel detail (on sale for 40% off) and my favorite cutout booties (FYI they fit TTS).

I also styled this shirt with a long cardigan and a utility vest. It’s such an easy piece to incorporate into almost any outfit! and with the utility vest…  My love for plaid is only matched by my love for gingham, so I decided to also style a similar look with a different print and a cocoon cardigan. I also switched up my booties to my pointed-toe wedge booties, which I’m still wearing a ton as temps cool down a little bit here.

This cardigan is SO soft. It’s a nice deep charcoal and works well with a lot of fall colors.
