Can I be honest with you? My skin care routine for the past 20 months (pregnancy + postpartum) has involved face wash, moisturizer and the occasional spot treatment. My skin is usually pretty okay when I’m pregnant and nursing, save for a breakout here and there, but the combination of stress, sleepless nights and overall just recovering from pregnancy and caring for a new baby has definitely shown on my face.
My eyes are often tired/puffy and my skin looks dull and has more fine lines than ever (oh ageing…) I haven’t really put any effort into my skin because it’s just one more thing I feel I don’t have time for these days. But as I approach the one-year mark, I’m excited to get back into a beauty routine. I’ll be completely done nursing which means all of the skin care products I couldn’t use during pregnancy or nursing will be fair game again.
I got to test out some nügg Beauty products recently and they’re just what I needed to get excited about skin care again. I remember using masks all the time before having kids and it just fell off my radar. But these masks are something I can easily incorporate into my nighttime or weekend skin care routine.
I tested out the nügg Beauty Multi-Masking Dull Skin Set, designed to revitalize dull or tired skin (raises hand). The set contains two exfoliating face masks to gently remove dead skin cells, two award-winning revitalizing face masks to help rejuvenate & plump the skin and a Depuff Eye Mask to help hydrate and wake up tired under eyes.
I was happy to learn that these masks are created with a blend of natural oils with over 90% natural or naturally derived ingredients and without mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and synthetic colors. I’m still being careful about skin care as I’m still pumping, so I was glad to use something I know is safe.
I applied the Revitalizing Mask after my shower at night and wore it as I did my last pumping session. I guess there is time for masking when you’re multi-tasking! (and no, I did not intend for that to rhyme!)
Wanting to be super efficient, I applied the face, eye and lip mask all at once. It may look strange spackled all over my face, but when I washed it off I was left with soft, smooth, brighter skin. The peppermint oil in the mask tingles a little and has a cooling effect. The exfoliating mask with cranberry seed oil helps get rid of dead skin cells and smooth out your complexion. It was much needed after nearly two years of not using an exfoliator. I didn’t use both masks on the same night, by the way. I waited a few days between masks.
The eye mask was super fun for me since I’ve never used one. It even comes with soft little felt pieces that you place under your eyes to keep the treatment in place. I felt like it was a treatment you would get at a spa. Very legit!
The Intense Lip Boosting Mask, which has won a Cosmo Beauty Award, is vegan and contains coconut oil, shea butter and Irish moss extract that moisturizes and soften lips. You can use it as an overnight treatment or before applying a matte lipstick to avoid the dreaded flakes and lines that come with that trend.
Now, I do have makeup on in this picture, obviously, but I think my skin looks pretty bright and fresh the morning after my masking!
