Poor Lincoln woke up with a high fever this morning so Harper and Kev went to the pool and I stayed home with an extra snuggly little babe. Hopefully he will be able to sleep tonight since last night was a total write-off.

On Saturday, we visited our friend Esther at Madewell in Highland Village where she was debuting her new Cuteheads collection. It’s so beautiful, I can’t wait for you all to see it! Harper wore the dress Esther created for her birthday and it couldn’t be any cuter! (her hair bow is by CharlieCocos).

We met up with Megan and Olivia and the girls enjoyed some mini-cupcakes from Sprinkles, while my soul died a little as I watched them eat all of the icing…ha. By the way, Willow Crowns has an adorable 4th of July capsule collection out right now— check it out here.

I had to return a dress at Banana Republic that I had ordered online and whilst there, I saw they were having a 30% off sale, plus an extra 20% off so I purchased a few tops for work. Most of the summer tops I wear to work are a year or two old, so it’s nice to get some fresh looks in my closet. I didn’t shop at Banana much last year when they had a new designer, but it looks like their looks are returning back to the style of clothes I love. Two of these tops are sheer and will require a cami underneath, but they’re so feminine and lightweight. I love that they have a sleeve so I don’t necessarily have to wear a blazer or cardigan with them.

My jeans in these photos are my best-skinny-jeans-ever by AG. You can find them here. I’m also wearing Tory Burch sandals— they’re nude, go with everything and I wear them daily for daycare drop-off (so much easier, and I just change into heels at work). I also wear them all weekend long!

Last week, I posted about this awesome white dress I got in my trunk from Trunk Club. A couple of days later when I went to order a size down, it was sold out in white! One of my awesome readers let me know today that it’s on sale plus an extra 30% off, which is a total score for such a classic dress. You can buy it here!

We just love our playroom. It’s such a bright and airy space, while also cheerful and colorful. I was so happy when our new Lorena Canals rug arrived. Y’all— it’s washable. Like, machine washable. The brilliance of that cannot be understated. Ours is this emerald ombre rug and it has the cutest tassels on each corner. It complements our mint green walls perfectly (the paint color is “mint essence by Olympic) and it creates a nice little space for Harper’s crafting/art/playdoh/tea party table. You can find our french tassel curtains here.

I went on a little bit of beauty binge this weekend at Ulta. I needed some replacements of favorites I had run out of and I wanted to try a bunch of new products as well so I can review them for y’all. I also needed some new mascaras/primers to try since my lashes are no beuno right now. For those of you that didn’t hear on Snapchat, I had my eyelash extensions removed and the post about my lash extension fail will be up tomorrow, so watch out for that!
Here’s what I got: drybar detox dry shampoo for brunettes– so excited to try this! |
living proof perfect hair day dry shampoo– have been using this a ton and love it | macadamia repairing mask– holy grail | Not Your Mother’s dry shampoos and dry finish texture spray | Nioxin cleanser for visibly thinning hair- the postpartum hair loss and texture issues are real #baldspots
It Cosmetics your skin but better CC cream (medium)- bloggers swear by this, so naturally, I had to try it | OPI polish in “mod about you”– my holy grail nail color | cover girl the super sizer waterproof | l’oreal double extend beauty tubes mascara
I can’t wait to report back on how I like these products. I also have some other beauty reviews but I have not been able to get them out of draft mode. Here’s to hoping I can get it together and post those soon!

Castor oil. I purchased two different types to try to make my lashes grow. I had read about it a lot online and watched some YouTube videos where women swear by it for lash growth. I ordered this one and this one. I actually thought it would be kind of fun if some of you ladies joined me for a “lash challenge.” That sounds really silly, but basically, let’s all use castor oil on our lashes for 4-6 weeks and post our results. If you’re not convinced it will work, check out this video! If you’re in, let me know here or on IG, and take a before shot!

Lincoln wore his first button-up shirt. That is all.
Lincoln is soooo cute. Loving his button-up! Can’t wait to hear your reviews on the hair products.
just Curious…why did you buy two different castor oils? I’ve been considering adding this to my regimen; why did you choose the ones you did?
Thanks!
Both were recommended by different youtubers and one is a regular one and one is smoked which is supposed to “work better” but smells kind of strong so I figured since they’re inexpensive I would get both and see what I like better 🙂
You should try Grandelash you can buy it on amazon, and one tube has lasted me at least 4 months. It really works. I tried Latisse before and I would say it works about the same. And way cheaper. It did take at least a month to see results though. I am terrified of trying eyelash extensions bc of losing my own lashes. A side effect though is the little baby hairs that grow on the bottom under your eye :/ at least I know it’s working! Haha
I wish I could use a lash serum but they all say not to use them when you’re nursing 🙁
Hi Veronika ! I am SURE you already know this and I know you live in Houston but waterproof mascara is SOOOO hard on your lashes especially the removal. If you’re having trouble with your lashes why don’t you switch to a non- waterproof formula for a while and see if that too might help you get the lashes in better condition. Just a suggestion not a criticism ! 🙂
The kids are beautiful !!!
Girl I wish I could use regular mascara! My lashes are so stick straight that even when I curl them with a heated lash curler they will not hold a curl with regular mascara as it’s too “wet.” It sucks but it is what it is!
I use the Tropic Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil for my both of my girl’s hair. We have had amazing results. My youngest pulls her hair when she it tired. This has helped fill in the bald spots. The smell is strong and a little goes a long way. I’ve heard you can add essential oils like lavender to help with the smell. I use vanilla scented products on her hair so the smell is not bad in combination with them. The oil has thickened her hair and made it grow. Haven’t tried on lashes but I will try since mine are not thick.
I am so glad to hear it works! I would also like to use it on one spot of my scalp where I have a lot of hair loss. Do you think using it just once or twice a week (since I don’t wash my hair more than twice a week) will help? Thank you!
I use it on her scalp once or twice a week. You should see results within 1 or 2 weeks. Just remember a little goes a long way.
thank you! did you start to see new hair growth? do you just leave it on overnight? I’m thinking I could apply it on sundays and just wear my hair in a topknot all day and then wash it out at night before bed and let my hair air dry!
Yes, after applying one or two times a week for two weeks I noticed the bald spots had filled in. I dip my finger tip into the bottle and just apply that amount to the spot. I don’t wash it out.
Mel— thanks for describing how you use this oil! I definitely have to wash it out since I don’t want to walk around with an oily spot in my head at work, but I think if I leave it on all day or overnight it should work, right? Or maybe I could use just the tiniest amount and cover it a bit with some dry shampoo? I will try a few methods and see what works!
Hi! Love your top selections, what size did you purchase for the green and black top? I love your style! 🙂
Hi Anna!
I got mediums in all of the tops. Banana is all over the place with sizing but since these are flowy tops anyway, I went for the medium to get a tad extra length.
I’ve been using castor oil on my eyebrows and lashes for a few months now and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in fullness and length (lashes). A few patchy areas of my brows have filled in as well! Although I did just get eyelash extensions (as a dry run for my wedding in a month) and I’m so nervous to hear about your “fail” :-O
If you got them done at a reputable place by a highly trained tech you will probably be fine. I have heard from other ladies that had a bad experience like I did, but it seems to be the exception and not the norm, or no one would still be getting them!
I love Loreal Beauty Tubes mascara! It’s so nice to not have raccoon eyes during removal, they come right off with warm water.
I just tried the l’oreal superstar with the primer but it made my lashes totally lose their curl 🙁 I wear waterproof mascara because it’s less “wet” and helps hold my curl in…I was really hoping a lash primer would work for me but it looks like they weigh my lashes down too much. Boo! thanks for the suggestion 🙂
Lincoln could not be any cuter…OMG. I’m always showing my husband pictures of him from your IG. He’s a doll. Harper too. I had the same experience with lash extensions – sad thing is that I had good lashes before; I just wanted to jump on the “everyone’s doing it” bandwagon I guess. I’m also applying castor oil every night – and your Snapchat reminded me to do so as well! So I’m down to join you on the lash challenge 🙂
I also had great lashes before…ugh. I don’t know why I did it…I guess they looked so fun to try…totally bandwagon! So glad you’ll be doing the challenge with me. 🙂 Let’s grow these lashes!
this post came at the perfect time for me! just got my lashes done a little over a week ago and got PINK EYE from one of my little angels 4 days later! needless to say, one eye has lost almost all the lashes while the other is still pretty full. lashes look like a hot mess! i was going to try to oil them down to remove them (did not really care for them for other reasons but i did LOVE the look). i read this last night and was SO happy!!! i am going to do the oil challenge with you!! 🙂
Eeee! I am so sorry to hear about the pink eye…what a non ideal time to get it,seriously! I would not recommend trying to remove the lashes yourself. I tried to use coconut oil and they didn’t come off and it’s better to just let a pro do them so you don’t risk any further damage. Good luck! Yay for castor oil!
Girl, I am excited to hear about how you like the Nioxin shampoo. I have bald spots and I have very thin hair, so it’s insanely depressing dealing with it.
Have you tried castor oil? A ton of people reviewing it have shown before and after shots with bald spots completely filled in!
Lincoln is sooo cute! What brand is his button-up shirt? Adorable!
It’s Ralph Lauren! A friend gave it to me 🙂 It was her sons
