I took Lincoln’s 2 month photos this weekend, and OMG, this face. More to come this week.
Since I’m going back to work in a few weeks, I decided that I better deal with my hair now while I have the time off. I hadn’t dyed my roots in about a year and I definitely have a few several grays now (thanks hormones and getting older). You can barely notice in this photo since I was air drying my hair (I pulled this from snapchat) but my roots are darker and my colorist added a glaze and a few tiny lighter pieces in the front. I’ll share a better photo when I blow it out. I also have some fun postpartum hair breakage and hair loss. Wheee!I’m still working on decorating our home for the holidays and I added some “merry and bright” pillow cases to Harper’s bed. Aren’t they cute? They’re under $15 too!
I’m in love with our “Christmas garden” tree. I’ve had this theme for years now and though I’ve been tempted to try something different, I just love it so much in all its floral and butterfly glory. I’m totally going to buy a second tree after Christmas this year for half off. I just enjoy them so much, what’s one more, right? Seriously though, our upstairs hallway is so wide it’s perfect for a tree…so is the playroom. We need one on every floor, right? I will never forget the joy Tiffany D’s Christmas Home Tour brought me. She gets me with her many trees. Kindred spirits.
On Saturday after Harper’s nap, we had a mommy/daughter date. I spend so much time with sweet Lincoln that I like to carve out some time every weekend just for us. Her teachers told Kevin that she always excitedly tells them what she and I did together on the weekend and that made my heart so happy.
Thank goodness for the internet, because that’s where I got the idea to say “bye bye” to her pacis. Harper’s been using a paci at night time only and the entire tip has been cut off of the paci for what seems like a year. We knew she was using them out of habit because she’s a great sleeper and doesn’t need them for naps and doesn’t use them at daycare. Gradually we would ask her if she wanted to forgo her paci and most of the time she said no. We took it slow and one night she said “mommy I don’t need my paci, I’m going to throw it in the sink.” She got out of bed and did just that so that’s when I knew it might be the right time to try this.
We talked about saying bye bye to her pacis for a few days and I was building excitement about her special bear. By the time we got to the Build-A-Bear store she was so excited but also overwhelmed at all of the choices. Eventually she settled on a Disney princess bear and picked out Belle’s yellow dress for her bear. Then, when we went to get her bear filled, we told the lady we’re saying bye bye to her pacis and she put them inside of the bear herself.
We spent about 40 minutes in the store giving her new bear a bath and picking out the clothes, shoes, a tiara, etc. It was so fun!
So, did it work? Today at nap time she asked for her paci and stopped herself mid-sentence. Then, she had a sad look on her face and we reminded her that her special bear has her pacis and she can hug her bear to feel better and the nap went down just fine! So far, so good.
Also, her hair is getting so long!
After Build-A-Bear we headed to see Santa! Harper was nervous even though before we went she excitedly told me what she was going to ask for (a bicycle and a baby). Maybe next year she’ll have the courage to strike up a convo 🙂
After Santa, we ate some dinner in the food court (so fancy) and then we headed over to the carousel. I thought she would be scared to ride it but her little eyes got so big, it was precious to witness. Needless to say she loved it and asked if we can “go back tomorrow.”
Basically, we had the best time ever and even though she went to bed way past her bedtime, she wasn’t even fussy because she was in such a great mood from all of the fun we had. We even sang along to the Frozen soundtrack all the way home!
We made some progress on Lincoln’s nursery this weekend by adding blackout curtains. These are the same ones we used in Harper’s nursery and the hardware can be found here.I’m going for the same calm/neutral look we had in Harper’s nursery and then when he’s older I’ll switch it up like I did with Harper’s big girl room. I can’t wait to share when it’s all finished!
We are hoping to start having Lincoln sleep the first stretch of the night in his nursery and so far it has been an epic fail. He wakes up a lot, loses his paci, etc so we end up going in there constantly. Jesus take the wheel.
Hope you had a great weekend!
What a brilliant idea to put the pacis in a build a bear! Seriously genius. And I think I already told you, but I am totally in love with your tree – it’s gorgeous!
I’m looking for a bright pink blanket like you have on Harprer’s bed for my toddler’s room. Where’d you find it?
It’s from the lilly Pulitzer collection for target. I would search eBay if you want that exact one! 🙂
I also have a 2 year old and I’m desperate to get rid of her paci. Great idea about the build-a-bear! I have just one problem though, I have an 11 month old that uses a paci! So I can try my hardest to take them from her but her little sister will still have them around. Does Lincoln use a paci? What are your plans if she tries to steal his??!!
Love what you’ve done with both the kids’ rooms!!
