When I placed my order for my most recent StitchFix, I requested maternity pieces and/or pieces that would grow with me. I also wanted them to be pieces that would work through summer since the rest of my pregnancy will no doubt involve 80-100 degree temps.
The first item in my fix was this adorable navy blue dress. It was comfortable and lightweight but ultimately too short to wear to work, which is what I would want it for, so sadly, I sent it back. It actually looked and felt shorter in real life than it looks in photos, but it’s just one of those dresses I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing to the office, especially with a growing bump that will make it shorter as the weeks go on.
The second item I was sent is this chevron print maxi skirt. I’m not a huge fan of chevron for clothing and overall I didn’t love the way it fit. I don’t own a maxi skirt so I was open to trying one, but I don’t think this one is it for me.
Top number three was a disappointment. I felt the styled looked like it was meant for a kid’s t-shirt. I did like the fit and the ruching on the side, but the stripes combined with the piping, pocket and sleeve tabs just didn’t do it for me.
I actually loved the fit of the last top in my fix. If it had been all black or another solid color, I 100 percent would have kept it. The lace cap sleeves were a such a cute detail but for some reason, the tiny polka dots made me feel like the top looked a little juvenile (I’m seeing a theme here…) I don’t know why I got that vibe from it, but I decided to send it back since it didn’t fully wow me.
I have another fix scheduled to arrive in a few weeks since I would like a few more maternity pieces to get me through the end of this pregnancy, so I’ll report back on that as soon as the items come in! I think you look fantastic in all of the items, but I'm with you – I would have only kept the basic tanks as well. You should look for a different maxi skirt though because one would look really cute on you!
I'm 18 weeks and am just now keeping an eye out for comfortable maternity clothes! I actually thought the last two were adorable on you. Looking forward to the next post!
I think that blue dress looks better on you than it did me. they sent it to me last month, must have been just too big, because it was a potato sack. (clearly I sent back). But I love those tanks…hopefully I'll get them on my Friday "fix". 🙂
Ugh, I didn't log on to Google and lost my first reply ¬¬
The striped shirt looks great on you. Maybe it does look a bit childish but it looks fun and different. I am not a stripes person and I really like it.
I really like the polka dot too, don't send it back ! XD The cap lace sleeve is such a nice touch. I can totally see you with a cute bun to show them off.
Not on my first comment, but question: do they get feedback as to why items are sent back to improve on future shipments or is it just a no-questions-return?
I do send specific feedback on each item for every order. You fill our a survery with four questions about the style and fit and then there is a little box to add written comments. I do this everytime so my stylist gets specific feedback 🙂
