Our Weekend…

Happy Sunday! We had a new little friend join our family this weekend— well, maybe he’s not so little. 


We originally ordered it for baby boy, but as soon as it came, Harper declared it hers and the kisses and hugs were endless. The conversation went something like this:


“Harper, look what we got for your baby brother!”

“No mommy, that giraffe is mine.”

“What about your baby brother?”

Harper walks over to her toy basket and pulls out her Sophie the giraffe squeaky toy…

“He can have this one, mommy (pauses to look at me intensely, turns and points to the giraffe) that one is mine.”



Well then. I guess I should have know better than to bring a 5 ft tall giraffe into our house with a giraffe-loving toddler around.

After Harper’s Little Gym class Saturday, we had a play date that was cancelled due to her friend being sick, so we decided to beat the heat by going to the mall. I hate the mall more than anything on a Saturday, but it has a Disney store and if you follow me on Snapchat, you saw Harper’s delight at seeing “Elsa” figure skate to “Let it Go” on the Galleria’s rink. Perfect timing! And let’s be real, I also had my eye on a special something with a sweet little bow from Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale that I didn’t pull the trigger on last week. She’s mine now:

Someone on IG asked me to post what the inside was like since I mentioned it has a ton of card slots, which is the main reason I purchased it. I have a ton of gift cards (plus other cards like my debit card, health insurance, driver’s license, etc). I get a lot of gift cards for holidays and special occasions and I always end up hoarding them together in a separate little zip wallet and forgetting all about them. I wanted something that had enough slots to where I can keep them all in one place. The wallet also has a zip pocket in the back where I have more gift cards stored. 

And speaking of gift cards, I’m a total weirdo about them. I always save them because I want to make sure I buy something special with them…but then I end up looking back a year later and realize I haven’t used them. So I’m trying to get better at that…
How cute is this gold bamboo mirror that came in last week? It’s currently on sale for $99 and it’s great quality. I’m a teeny bit obsessed with bamboo right now. I’ve had these bar stools on my wish list for quite some time…

Modern Burlap is a shop I discovered on IG and I can’t rave enough about their swaddle blankets. I love the simple black and white designs. They’re a little on the pricier side, but they’re super big and I like that they don’t have typical “baby” prints on them like baby ducks or elephants. Plus, you can use swaddle blankets for so many purposes- as a nursing cover or car seat cover and a blanket for an older child. Harper still sleeps with her Aiden & Anais swaddle blankets in the summer since they’re so lightweight and breathable. The Modern Burlap ones are made of 100% organic cotton and are totally unisex.

Saturday night, we celebrated National Ice Cream Day 24 hours early and went out for some good ol’ marble slab. I get their birthday cake ice cream with double cookie dough and it’s pretty much like heaven in a cup…and I’m not just saying that because I’m pregnant. I’m just as rabid for it anytime of year. 

Today we went to the pool again with my in-laws which is always our favorite thing to do on a Sunday. It’s fun and relaxing and lets us beat the heat. I wore a scarf as a cover-up today which I also did when we were in the Bahamas last fall. It’s such a fun way to use a scarf and in this heat, it’s lightweight and so easy to take on and off. You can also tie it around your waist just to cover your bottom half.

We bought Harper a new puddle jumper because we could not for the life of us find the one we got her for the Bahamas anywhere. She loved “swimming” and kicking around in the pool!

We left the pool, took long naps and just enjoyed some quiet family time at home after dinner. The perfect end to a Sunday!

    I am the EXACT same with gift cards. I have some sitting in my wallet that are several years old! My husband always gives me a hard time about it and now tells other people not to get them for me haha!
