We had such a blast celebrating Harper’s second birthday with family and friends over the weekend. We had 10 kiddos plus parents and it was a full house with lots of play, celebration and cupcakes.
I didn’t hire a photographer this year and I didn’t want to spend the party taking photos, so most of the shots I took were before the party got started when everything was set up and untouched (which is ideal since the aftermath certainly isn’t as lovely— but a messy house meant the party was a success!)
I truly love planning Harper’s party each year— getting creative and bringing a vision to life is so fun. But truth be told, I was not on the ball this year and didn’t start planning until a few weeks out. Time crunch and all, I was thrilled with how it all turned out and I’m sharing all of the details/sources at the end of this post.
When I started to plan, I found some jumbo flamingo helium balloons and decided that they would serve as the main “backdrop” pieces. Our dining table is in front of a large window and last year I created a backdrop using pink tulle and tissue poms (see it here). I had an idea this year to create an entire backdrop using balloons and I’m so happy with the way it turned out.
Harper even made her famous “O” face when we came downstairs in the morning and she saw (most) of the setup for her party. I think it’s safe to say the “mingos” were a big hit!
The party was at 11, so we served Chick-Fil-A nuggets again this year (kid and adult friendly!) and we had a ton of fruit, veggies and goldfish crackers plus a dessert table with cookies, cupcakes and cotton candy.
I’m so sad we didn’t get pics of everyone at the party— we barely got any family pictures because this little one was always plotting her next escape. You can check out my last post for a few more family pics!
We sang happy birthday to Harper about an hour into the party and she devoured her cupcake. We asked her weeks ago what she wanted for her birthday and she said without skipping a beat “strawberry cake!” Needless to say, she loved it.
I was so proud of my chalkboard design this year! I used my iPhone to find a photo of a flamingo I liked and then I free-handed a rough outline of the flamingo onto the chalkboard before adding in all of the details. I don’t think I will erase this one for awhile!
Before I wrap things up, I have to give a major shout-out to Kevin, my mom and in-laws who helped me set up for the party. I couldn’t have done it without them!
I hope you loved the party as much as we did! Below is a list of every source I can think of. If I’m missing any, please let me know in the comments!

Everything turned out beautiful! Harper looks adorable in her little flamingo dress and you are simply glowing. Using wrapping paper as a tablecloth is genius!
Thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to make cookies for your little girl, it truly was an honor 🙂
You did such an incredible job and the theme is just too perfect! xo, biana –BlovedBoston
This is fantastic! The theme is adorable and all the decorations are perfection. So.Much.Pink. I love it. All my friends have baby boys so I never get to enjoy pink frilly things. Using wrapping paper as a tablecloth is brilliant, I've never thought of it and will need to steal that idea. Thanks for sharing Harper's 2nd Birthday! She's one lucky girl to have a mommy like you.

Super cute! My daughter turns 3 this week and the theme for her party is flamingos too! She loves them!
I absolutely love your theme. "Flamingle" is so clever!! Looks like she had a great time!
Wow! Everything looks amazing!
This is seriously too cute! What a unique birthday idea! Harper is a very smart little girl. Strawberry cupcakes are the best in summer!
Happy Birthday Harper!

That is the cutest party! Happy Birthday sweet Harper!
I love the cookies and paper straws! So cute!
I love the flamingo theme! I've never seen it before, well besides Kate Spade's recent line 😉 It's so girly, but definitely more unexpected than a typical party theme. I also love that Danielle from Pretty Posh Shop supplied some goodies (she's so sweet).
Everything is perfect!! I am so impressed with the cookies! The are gorgeous. I just learned to do sugar cookies this year and am amazed at some of the decorations people think of. The cupcakes are so cute and love the gold sparkle banners. Btw you are quite the chalk artist! lol xo
Love it!
Those cookies are incredible!
Love all the flamingos, & they are definitely in style, from kate spade to old navy/target 🙂
