Happy Mother’s Day to all of my wonderful readers! May is always a huge month of celebration for us— our wedding anniversary is May 9th, then comes Mother’s Day and Harper’s and my birthday at the end of the month.
Mother’s Day is extra special this year because we are expecting another baby— a sweet baby BOY— due in October!!! (I will be 17 weeks pregnant next Wednesday…so nearly halfway there!)
We are so excited for Harper to have a sibling and to welcome a little boy into our family! We bought Harper this book that we’ve been reading to her and she constantly refers to the baby as “baby sister” because Daniel Tiger has a little sister…so we are working on “baby brother” right now, haha!
I actually had a feeling this baby was a boy from the very beginning (we found out on Thursday via ultrasound!) I thought Harper was a boy too, but then I had two dreams that she was a girl and they were right—and I had three dreams during this pregnancy that all “revealed” the baby is a boy. I usually don’t really believe in that kind of stuff, but dreams were right for me for both pregnancies, so who knows?!
When I was young and I pictured my future, I always saw myself with two children, one of each, so I had this “feeling” our next would be a boy. Of course I would have been happy no matter what sex baby #2 was, but it’s funny to think about now.
I’ll save the first trimester and pregnancy talk for another post because there’s too much to summarize, but I’m so thrilled to be sharing this happy news with y’all!
Harper loves balloons and we announced that she was a girl with balloons, so we kept the “tradition” going and let her run around with some balloons which she loved until a few of them popped, which prompted her to ask us to “fix it.” Try explaining that one to a toddler, folks!
Lately, Harper is really into wrapping her “babies” in blankets and putting them to sleep (she pats their backs and says “goodnight” and gives kisses to each baby and animal). She’s already practicing being an awesome big sister and when I talk to her about the new baby she says “I wanna hold it” and “I feed it a bottle.” I’ll take all the help I can get, little one.
She “talks” to the baby too. I will lift up my shirt and she will touch my belly and wave and say “hi baby.” She also says she wants the baby to go to the park with her…ha. I know she doesn’t fully get what’s going on, but reading the book has helped her understand the concept a little more.
Congratulations Veronika! 🙂
It looks like Harper is already one great big sister! Happy Mother's Day!
These are the best news! Congratulations to you and your family! I'm very happy for you guys!
Congrats!! What beautiful photos! I just had #2 a month ago and my oldest is about to turn 2 next month. Anything I tried to prepare beforehand just didn't work – she was too young (I got her big sis book and even a gift from her little sister at birth) and once little sister came, she just had constant tantrums. At one point she even thought daddy as gonna leave her too! Things started getting better after 2-3 weeks and are much better now. We get her involved in everything involving the baby (help changing diaper, rocking the baby) etc so she feels important. There was some potty regression too (totally sucked). Now she loves her little sister, gives her kisses and even trys to share her snacks (gotta watch that one!). Happy mother's day!!
Congratulations and happy Mother's Day! Being a boy mom is so much as is little boy clothes shopping!! My wallet attests to that as well! Lol I hope you are feeling well!
Congrats Veronika! I'm also expecting a boy in Oct (17 weeks on Thuraday!), so I'll be following along with your pregnancy pairs!
Also, Harper looks adorable in those pics.

Congratulations!!! That last picture of Harper with the giraffe is the best 🙂 She is such a sweetheart, I'm sure she will be a great big-sister.
Congratulations! My daughter was just under 2 when I found out I was having #2 and while I was a little worried to find out it was a boy, he is an absolute doll at almost 5 months old. Having a girl is a blast obviously but something about mamas and their boys is different 🙂 One thing I learned right off if they both need something from me is to tend to my daughter's needs first and then my son's. More than likely making her wait while I feed him or bathe him is going to be way too much for her little 2 year old brain and it also makes her feel important still that I'm not constantly putting her baby brother first.
Congratulations again and can't wait to continue to read about your pregnancy!

Congratulations!! How exciting! 🙂
Congrats! I have one of each and love it, except I had my boy first!
Last summer or whenever it was when PBS kept announcing the day Daniel was going to become a big brother, it was like a party around here. Then I CRIED AND CRIED AND CRIED while the show was on! LOL
She looks so much like you in that five year old picture. 😀
Happy Mothers Day, Veronika and congrats on the new bundle of joy coming up!
Before you need to feed the baby or anything that's going to take anytime, set your daughter up with an activity. It can be something as simple as getting a toy out and setting it up for her, or popping in a favorite movie. Playdoh is something I used to reserve for the high chair if she was fussy – it's non toxic so I didn't have to supervise constantly and she would happily sit in the high chair since I was unwilling to let her loose in house with play doh. Also do not always make one wait over the other – this has bad long term consequences for both that aren't good. There will be times when you will need to tend to babies needs and times you will need to tend to your little girls needs when both are clamoring. The more important thing to take into account is individual dispositions. If one child is more demanding that child is going to have to learn to be less demanding. And sometimes a shy quiet child needs to be taught to express their needs. Cherish these times, they go quickly.
Congratulations Veronika!! And I hope you had a wonderful mother's day! xx
Congrats!! So excited for you and your little family.
Congratulations, such exciting news!! Sounds like Harper will make a great big sis! I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!
Congratulations! Such exciting news 🙂
Congrats! I have two little boys. One is almost 3 years old and the other is 6 months. It certainly is an adjustment. Two is way harder than one!!!! LOL The hardest part really is that both babies are on completely different schedules. But if you and your husband tag team it, you should do fine. The sibling bond is so cute to watch. Happy for you guys! Congrats again! Boys are super fun but the clothes are pretty boring. Looking forward to some boy clothes inspiration from ya 🙂
Congratulations on your baby boy! Those pictures of your daughter with the balloons are adorable and a such a creative way to announce the gender. Love it!
Congratulations!!!! That's Soooo exciting!!!
Congrats, that is so exciting! I have a 4-year-old daughter with red hair (very similar to Harper's) and I'm having a boy in September. I can't wait to see your nursery! Have you picked colors/themes yet?? Or is it a surprise?
Oh my gosh….I'm SOOOO excited for you Veronika! Harper is going to be such a wonderful big sis. And seriously…he'll be such a momma's boy. 🙂
