How good was the half-time show with Katy Perry and Missy Elliot? Like about a hundred million others on the planet, we’re watching the Super Bowl (and by watching, I really mean Kevin’s watching and I’m watching the half-time show and the sad commercials). Is it just me, or are the commercials super tear-inducing this year? I wasn’t prepared for this.
We couldn’t think of a better way to start our morning than to enjoy some sprinkle donuts…and I even asked Amanda to make me a mini-version of her hearts & xoxo garland. It’s available in her shop right now, so check it out if you’re in the market for some sweet Valentine’s Day decor.
Later that day we headed to the park and then we built houses out of blocks, wearing aprons, of course. Harper’s apron is from Pottery Barn Kids and it finally came in after a 6-week backorder. It looks like it’s sold out, but goodness gracious, isn’t this one precious? How many aprons does a toddler need—surely more than one, right? (and, this isn’t a rhetorical question, because I just showed the bunny apron to Kevin on my laptop screen and he was like “a toddler doesn’t need more aprons”). So, question answered..and I hate it when he’s right 😉
We got cleaned up and ready for lunch and Harper even got to wear a summer dress courtesy of our 75-degree sunny weather.
We were meeting Harper’s godmother Candice and we got to Tiny Boxwoods before noon. It’s always crazy-busy, but for some reason I thought people would be too busy making chili and nachos for the Super Bowl to go out for brunch. But of course the gorgeous weather meant it was slammed and there was a 40-minute long line out the door. If you have a hungry toddler an hour away from nap time, you know that wasn’t going to fly. So we visited our trusty Local Foods and enjoyed our favorite crunchy chicken sandwiches and never looked back.
Kevin took Harper home for a nap and Candice and I went to the Galleria to return something ordered online, which reminded both of us how much we hate the mall. We laughed about how years ago we could spend two hours at Forever 21 piling clothes up so high on both of our arms that we would be sore the next day. Mall trips used to feel like a fun hobby, now, they feel like a chore. All hail online shopping. For real.
I didn’t buy anything for myself, but I did pick up this sweet little tee for Harper from Zara. Isn’t it precious?
I did like a few items at J.Crew, but I’m waiting for a sale before I pick them up.
After our shopping trip, our friends came over again with Cami since we are on their way home from visiting family in town. I set up a little Valentine’s craft for the girls to make for their grandparents. We had the girls paint on canvases until they were covered. I plan to use a heart stencil to make rows of hearts on the canvas with Harper’s abstract art as a backdrop. It was a fun project and the girls enjoyed painting the canvases…and themselves…and trying to eat the paint, which we shut down early-on (don’t worry, it’s nontoxic).
Love that X&O banner! I may have to make one this week 🙂 Also love Harpers sparkly pink tutu!! Looks like you ladies had a fun weekend!
Thanks girl 🙂 hope it warms up for you soon!
That bunny apron! I would say toddlers definitely need more then one! Also where is her sippy cup from? Love the monogram!
the sippy cup is from target but the monogram sticker is from etsy!
That apron!!!!! And I got Waverly that short from Zara, love it!! 🙂
isn't it great? can't wait to see her cuteness in it!
Oh my that is such a cute apron and of course she needs a tutu! lol Girls are too cute 🙂
🙂 thank you!!!
You are so right about the mall – it used to be my happy place. Now I can hardly stand to go. This weekend my mom asked me if I wanted to take a girl's vacation with her to Mall of America and I actually said no! I was shocked and have since reconsidered, but my initial response was, "mall for two days? Ugh!! Can we go somewhere else??"
I know! I don't enjoy it anymore. It used to be a fun hobby but now I feel like I have so much going on, it's the last thing I want to do.
Cute! What color is Harper's PBK chair? I want to get my little girl a tan one but they seem to only have colors like lavender and pink.
it's a light gray color 🙂
Where did you get the cute straw sun hat she is wearing?
old navy!
What a great idea on the VDay canvas gift for the grandparents!
