A couple of months ago I saw Marissa’s new haircut and I just loved it. It prompted me to message her to find out who cut her hair. It turns out that her stylist is someone I’ve actually known for years— she was a fellow stylist and friend of my old hairdresser, David (who now lives in Italy), so I used to see her every time I went in! I even bought an elliptical machine from her years ago. She now co-owns her own salon, SalonTrose.
Though I’m usually timid about cutting more than an inch or so off of the length of my hair because I’m so attached to it, I trusted Tracy and we just went for it. This is the shortest it’s been in years— but my hair needed it. It feels so lightweight and the dead ends are all gone. I feel like my color looks refreshed too, even though we didn’t touch it!
I will grow it out again like I always do, but I’m glad to have cut all of that weight and dryness out. Here’s how my hair turned out…
Olivia Palermo’s cut was my inspiration. I just love her waves and the length is shorter but not too short (for me), so it felt like a good fit.
When we got home from the party, I was in a cleaning and organizing mood (aren’t we all as soon as that ball drops in Times Square?) and I tackled our laundry room. I even organized my crafting supplies and vacuumed everywhere and cleaned the floors (because I could actually see them after I moved some stuff out).
Hello! Is your hair naturally curly or do you have to curl it?
Hi Christi! Yes is is naturally wavy/curly but I always blow it out when I wash it. Then, I will curl second or third day hair. More info about my hair routine here: https://veronabrit.blogspot.com/2011/01/sudsing-up-all-about-my-hair-washing.html
The curtains look beautiful. The really make the space feel more open. Love Harper's Polka Dot shirt with the flower on it. Have a great week!
Thanks Melissa 🙂 You too!
Your hair is always so beautiful! I love the color. I finally made an appointment to go in and get my hair colored. I will probably take in a picture of your hair since it's what I'm going for! And of course Harper is adorable!! Major cleaning, reducing and organizing is happening on my farm this year too!!

thanks ashley! I hope your hair turns out great! you live on a farm? so cool!
I do love the shorter hair. You could even go shorter (like a long bob) and it would be super cute on you. I'm all for the changes. 🙂

Totally agree! A shorter cut would be so chic and elegant. Hair always grows back and it's worth taking the risk!
I love how much light your living room has.
Love love your new haircut and those curtains! Definitely looks amazing in your living room – I'd never guess IKEA! Now I really really wish we had high rectangular ceilings.

thanks girl! 🙂
Your hair look ah-may-zing!!! Flawless! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston
thank you 🙂
This hairstyle really suits you! I've always had waist-length hair ever since I was a kid and I've always been too chicken to go short. I am CONVINCED I would look terrible and would immediately regret it.
I'm sure it would look great! I feel you though, I really love long hair, and it's hard to let go of that attachment when it makes you feel most like "yourself."
The cut is fantastic on you!!! What a nice change! The ends look soooo thick! Love 🙂
thank you so much 🙂 she cut them blunt and said it would look so much thicker—she was right!
Wow, your hair looks gorgeous and I love those airy, elegant drapes!
thank you heather!
The curtains from Ikea look so elegant! What's their name?
They are the RITVA curtains. I will have a post published all about them tomorrow.
Love your haircut–it looks gorgeous! And so healthy!
Can you tell me where your gray and white striped tee is from? It looks so cute and comfy!
It's just a PJ top from Victoria's Secret (it's PINK sleepwear)
