I’ve been working some extended evenings and weekend hours lately, so I was able to take a comp day today to get a little break and spend some time with family. Kevin took a little time off in the morning too which was nice!
We decided to go to the Houston Aquarium since Harper loved the Toronto one and the massive ones at Atlantis. I had forgotten how small the Houston one is and we were through it in 20 minutes, so we worked our way back a couple of times. We got lucky because when we got there, right at opening, we had the entire place to ourselves for the first walk-through of the aquarium. A few school groups arrived after that, but it still wasn’t that busy. It was okay. I had been there prior to having Harper and it was just okay then too. Not a bad way to spend the morning, but it’s not somewhere I’d go more than once a year. Someone recommended Moody Gardens to us so we plan to go there sometime this spring or summer.
After the aquarium, we drove to the Village to check out some of the shops and grab some lunch. I ended up running into two wonderful readers there. Sally— who I’ve been emailing back and forth with for a good four years and Becca, who had her little girl with her! I love meeting my readers out-and-about, thanks for saying hello!
I was having a pretty good hair day today and I’m still so happy with my cut! I always find it takes me about two weeks to adjust to any cut and then it somehow just falls better. Does anyone else find this?
After Harper’s nap, I asked her what she wanted to do. She said “park” and pointed at the stairs, so to the park we headed in her little car. Kevin was out running some errands so it was just me and this little one.
We had a perfectly ordinary day, but I loved having the extra day to start off our weekend. Hope you had a happy Friday too!
I love the pic with Harper and the tiger. It almost looks like the tiger is
afraid of her!
Lol! I'm just glad she liked the real tiger 🙂
Such a beautiful family! Love these type of day in the life posts. Gorgeous haircut by the way. It always takes me two weeks after a haircut for it to lay right. Always! You're not alone. X
Omg got serious hair envy!! It looks great, the color really suits you and looks so healthy 🙂
