Yesterday, Harper turned 16 months old. As she gets older, it’s nearly impossible to get photos of her (especially if you ask, she will laugh and run away) so I’m sharing photos from our trip to the Houston Zoo today as part of her 16-month update.
This month Harper’s language really exploded. I remember being a little worried at her 15-month checkup that she wasn’t saying many words (to which my pediatrician replied “don’t worry, my son didn’t talk until he was 3, and now he works at Google). Thanks for the reassurance, doctor.
About a week or two after that check-up, it was like someone flipped a switch and this girl started to say new words practically daily. It’s awesome. She even talks to herself in her crib in the morning. If she wakes up earlier than usual we just let her hang out for a bit chatting and flipping through books.
Favorite Moments, Memories & Milestones:
“nay nay” for horse
She also started to say “I don’t know” (but it sounds like one word)— she shrugs her shoulders and puts her hands up by her sides. It slays me, it’s so cute.
Has been a total daddy’s girl for the last few weeks. It’s always “dada dada dada.”
She answers questions with yes or no all the time now.
She still loves to dance. We regularly “get down” to some tunes. She’s got moves, y’all.
She often brings Lulu his octopus toy and laughs when she throws it to him. She loves watching him run around the house.
such cute pictures!

thank you! 🙂
Harper is getting so big now! I'm only 19 and a university student and whilst I have no plans to have babies for a long long time, I love following along with her progress!
aww thank you 🙂 glad you're enjoying watching her grow!
she is SUCH a sweetheart. just love her little expressions!
thanks Molly 🙂 you know I love your little girl's sweet face too!
Marli LOVES the zoo and the last time I took her, we took a ride around the park with the train. She went ballistic and would not stop saying choo choo ALL. DAY. ALLLL DAY girl…haha It's so awesome how the smallest things make her so happy 🙂 You are so lucky you got a close up of the lions! Those stinkers are always sleeping when we've been.

We totally need to do the train the next time 🙂 some of the lions were sleeping but we got lucky!
Looks like you guys had fun at the zoo! I can't wait to bring my little one there! That is SO adorable that she turns around on the stairs to "say goodnight" to Lulu! This is such a fun and amazing time to watch them grow, develop, and learn.
she will love the zoo so much! harper was just in AWE! she was so quiet, just taking it all in. It was really sweet.
Just loved this post, Harper is so beautiful just like her momma! I had to comment on the picture subject as I have the same issue with my niece and trying to get her to stand still, which is impossible for a picture! There is an app now that uses your existing video's on your phone and turns it into pictures, still by still. It's INCREDIBLE! (Perfect Pic is the name.) Thought you might find it useful as it's been my new BFF! X – Jennifer
aww thank you 🙂 that is a great recommendation! I will check it out!
These pictures are lovely! I think this age is so fun. It's the borderline between being a quiet baby and an active toddler who can mimic you or talk back. It's so incredible!
We just went to the zoo a couple of months ago. I'm look forward to the zoo boo in October, and crossing my fingers for slightly cooler temperatures.
Hi from a fellow (newbie) Houston blogger 🙂
Great photos! Love Harper's little Pebbles' do and that flamingo!
