If you took a stroll through the office where I work, you would see a very wide array of styles of dress. From uber casual to suits and ties, it’s really all over the place. My style philosophy when it comes to the workplace is “dress for your day.” Some days, I know I’ll be at my desk all day writing, making calls, etc., whereas other days I’m going from meeting to meeting at the hospital and need to be dressed up.
The above are two outfits I’ve worn this week. The pencil skirt was worn on a day I had an offsite lunch meeting with some other PR folks and the outfit with the pants and chambray shirt was worn on a day when I knew I’d just be at my desk. I definitely still dress up more than I dress down, but it’s nice to have days where I can get away with more casual ensembles.
Do you dress for your day or do you consistently dress up or down? I’d love to know what what your office is like and if you see the same wide array of styles that I do!
Mine is a more casual environment…although it shouldn't be. We work with the public and everyone has kind of descended into uber casual. I'm talking sweatshirts, jeans, sneakers. My boss dresses business casual and that's what I usually do. It helps me feel more professional and focused. People drop in constantly for impromptu meetings so I don't want to present myself too casually. I LOVE your two looks Veronika!
you are just the cutest! love your work style- it's exactly my style 🙂
I love both those necklaces! I haven't had to dress for work lately since I'm staying home with the little one but the "dress for the day" philosophy still applies and it keeps things interesting 🙂
My company's dress code is 'business casual,' which is a somewhat broad/ambiguous term, especially here in crunchy Colorado, where people make the distinction between dressy hiking boots and casual hiking boots.
Personally, I take issue with how some of my coworkers dress, because there seems to be this mindset that as long as it's not denim, it's professional, which couldn't be further from the truth. I could wear denim every day of the week and look more put together, polished and professional than a couple of these people do.
You're my fashion inspiration! I love you blog so much and you and your daughter are so presh!

My office is quite casual. More casual than I would like, really. I like your idea of dressing for the day, however…and this is what I tend to do. I tend to be more dressy than the rest of the office – but I like to think if our MD came in, that I would be dressed suitably for a meeting. If I know I have meetings with external clients, I try and dress it up a bit more.
I am heading to the US soon – and a trip to Tiffany's is in order! Just wondering what your favourite 'classic' pieces would be? I have no Tiffany pieces yet, and have only just tsarted wearing white gold since getting married (all my previous jewellery was yellow gold).
Any recommendations?
Love both outfits, I'm a teacher so I have a little flexibility! But obviously love dressing up when I'm not running after a toddler! 🙂
We are a business casual environment, and up until recently, could only wear jeans on Friday. This summer, we were allowed to wear what was referred to as "dressed up jeans" (with very specific guidelines), as a pilot run every day. We "passed" 🙂 the pilot and now can wear jeans as we please. That said, a lot of people still dress business casual. We are right outside of NYC, and fashion and styles really run the gamut. Some people, like me, love to get dressed up. My husband also prefers to be dressed up and never wears dockers or jeans in to the office. I am more comfortable in pencil skirts than jeans on most days because I feel I just look better, and I really enjoy those styles. My days don't typically vary in terms of desk vs. out at meetings. I am in HQ all day, and do have meetings with vendors and agencies, but I don't change my strategy based on that. Rather, I dress for how I feel on that particular day. I will say I begin my morning with a cup of coffee while reading all of my favorite fashion blogs (yours included!) and sometimes what I see covered by bloggers that morning will inspire an outfit that day, and other times I just stick with what I had originally planned and save it for later 🙂
So cute! Love both outfits. We are business casual in my very small office. If necessary, I throw on a blazer to dress up when customers are visiting or we have a special event. I am most likely wearing skinny pants and a blouse with flats most days.
PS Harper is the cutest little thing. I love that her style kind of matches yours.
I do community based work with infants and toddlers who have developmental delays, so sometimes I'm at my desk, sometimes I'm in daycares, sometimes in homes, sometimes in meetings with schools, but often sitting/crawling/playing on floors all over the city with the sweetest little ones who inevitably leave their mark on me (drool/tears/mucus/paint/mashed sweet potatoes…you know). For that reason, our workplace tends to dress very casual, but I try to dress up a bit since I'm also a supervisor. It is very challenging to dress for my day, but I'm thankful for blogs like yours to keep me inspired!
Love those minnie pants!
I love your style for work as well as the every day! You have a very classy style and you remind me of J Crew model.(Very pretty, minimal makeup) I love all of your necklaces and skirts. I wish I worked at a job that I had the opportunity to dress up! lol
