My first day back at work went well. It was a short day and it was nice to see all of my co-workers. I’m so lucky to have such great friends at work and a few even gave me welcome back cards and wrote notes on my white board, it was so sweet.
I think I haven’t had a meltdown yet because I know Harper is being cared for by her daddy and she isn’t in daycare yet. I know she will probably have lots of fun there and learn a lot but it’s still going to be hard to drop her off there for the first time…and tenth time, I’m sure.
As I pursued my closet this morning, I realized that I had to be mindful of what I chose to wear since it had to be pumping-friendly. I have some dresses that are definitely not options for pumping because I’d have to lift the entire dress up to gain access to properly place my pumping parts.
I wanted to wear something comfortable since it would be my first time pumping outside of my own home so I went with a simple tee (hello, I’m obsessed) and dressed it up with a sparkly necklace. It was also the first time I have worn a pencil skirt in more than six months. I got this one on major sale at J.Crew (FYI, the popular No. 2 pencil skirts almost always go on sale so wait it out if you can!) I promise my tee looked better earlier in the day but my husband took these shots after my commute, so I apologize for the mess.
I ended up brining three massive bags to work. I won’t need to bring my pump anymore but once we add a daycare bag to the mix I’ll probably be carrying quite a few bags out the door.
You look amazing! I love that necklace, I have to get it! Or at least one that's similar. I'm really into basic tees lately too. They look good with everything, even dressy pieces!
Hi Veronika!!!! I love your blog and I was kind of anxious to read this specific post. I am 15 weeks pregnant and like you said, I have no doubts about going back to work after "Baby Munchkin" is born. The only problem is: my job only gives me 06 weeks for my maternity leave and once we see that adorable little face, all our decisions just melt away. I am a Brazilian living in the US, and in Brazil we have 06 months off and I just can't understand why we have to go back so soon. Your post just made me feel less guilty, and gave me some extra courage to face one more challenge in this new phase of my life. Thank you so much!!!!

So happy to hear your first day went well. Hope all else goes just as smoothly. 🙂
It's hard going back. It will never get easier. But what you are showing and giving your daughter is something to be proud of. Check out this TED talk.

Glad it went well! My first day back is in a week and a half and I'm sort of freaking out!
Glad that your first day went well. I'm sure your little one will be well taken care of. It must save so much time to have all your food ready to go!
I'm glad to hear your first day went smoothly. I'm sure your little one will be well taken care of. It must save so much time to have your food prepped and ready to go!
I am SO impressed with you wearing a pencil skirt on your first day back! Way to go mama!! And I promise it only gets easier with time. xo
Harper is so precious! Best wishes as you transition back to work, I know how difficult it must be! Love the first day outfit

Congrats on your first day back, Veronika! You look amazing… lovin' those bow heels 🙂 xo, tasha
I have also been obsessed with the basic tees. The V necks from JCrew are great, and I'm also loving the Target "dupes" with scoop neck. I too wear them with sparkly necklaces and tweed skirts. Your lunches look just about 100% like mine (including the snacks for the drawer!). I take a salad with fresh radishes, red peppers every day as well as fruit. Looks like you've mastered the first day back like a pro! It will get easier from here for sure!
Good luck back to work! I know it must be a little scary to leave your baby! Btw I love those SM pumps! They look just like the Valentino ones!

So glad to hear everything went well!
I'm glad it went well!
You look amazing – so incredibly jealous of how awesome you look after giving birth so recently. Congrats on your first day back!
I'm returning to work soon and am worried about my supply. Can you do a post about how much you're producing now and what you did to increase supply, if any? Thanks!
Did you read my post about exclusive pumping? the most I have ever pumped is 7.8 oz and the average is about 5.4-6.4 oz, it just depends. I pump every 3 hours at work and at night I can usually go 5 hours or so and that's when I get the most. I also take Fenugreek and Alfalfa supplements from Whole Foods.
I must have missed that post – sorry! If you go 5 hours without pumping, do you get clogged ducts? I waited 4 hours instead of pumping at the 3rd hour once and I got the worst clogged duct ever. 🙁
you look incredible, how did you lose the weight so quickly (if you don't mind me asking)
Thank you! I honestly haven't done anything. It's genetics and I also exclusively pump which does burn calories.
