I had a brief work-related event to attend this morning and then I hit the village to use my GAP coupon. It was sent in the mail and gives you 40% off of a single item and 30% off of your entire purchase (including sale items) when you pay with your Visa card. Score!
I picked up a few items for our sweet little girl. As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m not buying a lot of newborn items or even 0-3. You tend to get a lot of the smaller sizes at your baby shower and so many moms have told me to focus on buying larger sizes that baby can grow into. Plus, babies pretty much wear onesies for the first few months of life so I’m saving the dresses and tops for later on.
Peter Rabbit collection footed one piece, 3-6 months- buy it here
Can’t find this one online, 12-18 months
(I think this is the cutest top ever!)
Floral print ruffle dress, 12-18 months- buy it here
I also stopped in at GAP because they were having a major sale on bras. This one was on sale for $25. I like it because it’s wireless and the coverage is great. Since being pregnant, I’ve had to go up a band size, so I’ve had to get a few new bras so my ribs don’t feel like they’re being compressed all day.
I also picked up four dress shirts for my H at Express. He likes the modern fit shirts and this weekend Express has a promo where you buy one and get the second for $19.90. I was also able to use an online coupon on top of that promo—it was a great deal and he’s got some nice new shirts to wear. I got him white, lilac, a light turquoise/robin’s egg color and a blue and white gingham. You can buy them here.
We also made another major baby purchase today—our stroller! After recommendations from several mommy friends and doing my own research, plus the great rating in Baby Bargains, we decided to take the plunge and purchase our Uppababy Vista stroller in “Jake” (all black). Babies & Kids 1st (I went to the location on Kirby) was having a sale to celebrate the opening of their new The Woodlands store, and they even beat amazon.com’s price, so we got it today and it’s still boxed up in our guest room. I love that it comes with a bassinet and that the handle extends. The car seat adapter is also super easy to use. I can’t wait to become more acquainted with it! We went with solid black because I like things to look simple. I’m not into prints and patterns on major baby items like strollers, car seats and pack n’ plays. Plus, it would work perfectly for a second baby whether it was a boy or girl.
(Uppababy Vista- buy it here)
If you have this stroller and love it, let me know why in the comments! I’ve read a lot of reviews and most people are really happy with it, so that’s reassuring.
I didn’t snap a lot of photos of what I wore this week, but I did capture a couple of outfits:
Banana Republic dress, Artizia blazer, Nine West shoes, F21 necklace
(I love how this dress shows off my growing bump!)
J.Crew top, GAP maternity really skinny pants, Tory Burch Reva flats,
Stella & Dot necklace c/o, Banana Republic trench
Stella & Dot necklace c/o, Banana Republic trench
Though I like how my hair looks in the below photo, I am badly in need of a cut. I may try a stylist one of my co-workers goes to—she has really amazing layers. Do you go to the same person for cut and color or do you go to different people? Let me know in the comments!
Oh, and I did organize my closet last weekend like I had planned to! I rearranged everything and stored away a few items that were never being worn. I still have to add all of the maternity clothes that my co-worker gave to me, but I don’t want to put them in there until I can fill them out. Organized closets make me feel happy.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend! We have a wedding reception to attend tonight at a restaurant downtown and I can’t wait to get dressed up and eat yummy food!
The Uppababy Vista in black is the #1 item on my wish list (when we decide to have a baby)!
Have you thought about getting a good baby carrier? It's a lifesaver- easier than a stroller sometimes! I have this one (in a different print) and I love it. You can get an infant insert to use it from birth. There's an aqua chevron one too!

@Molly— Yes I am registered for a baby k'tan wrap 🙂
I have the new Uppababy Vista as well as their brand umbrella stroller too for quick trips. It is seriously the best stroller! They have great accessories for it too! I recommend the seat protector to protect the fabric for when your little one is a little older. My 1yo spills everything and the black protector keeps the fabric stain free!
We love love love love our Vista! Great choice, you will not regret it.
I loved having the pram when our daughter was tiny – she would sleep in it downstairs, saving us from having to cart her co-sleeper down the stairs.
The stroller itself is a dream, smooth, sturdy and great looking. I also love the fabric, it's easy to wipe clean. We live in Arizona so the massive sun shade is a huge plus for us – I'm sure you guys will have similar feelings! Great choice!
You will not be disappointed with the uppababy at all. I would recommend it to any one. It was one of my favorite baby items!
I have this stroller. I love it. Sometimes it's a pain for me to fold up when I'm in a rush. I bought the bassinet stand and my baby slept in that for months instead of a pack n play. It is great for walks because it glides so well. The basket is great for shopping since its so huge. It looks great with the maxi cosi mico infant car seat too!

Those outfits are adorable! I love the polka dots! I was going to different people for cut and color but I felt like I was "cheating" sometimes. I'm going to try going to try stick to just one stylist though.
We have the Vista for our 2 month old and it is a dream. It is so incredible comfortable and he loves riding in it. It was definitely a must have and I am glad that we decided to splurge. You definitely will not be disappointed.
I do not have that stroller (I went with the City Mini GT), but I do agree to go for a solid color for major baby items. I have the City Mini in all black and I love it… I worried it would be too warm in the summer months, but honestly I don't think the black vs other colors makes much of a difference.
You look adorable, as always- love seeing your pregnancy updates!
I have the best colorist & hairdresser in Houston. BUT, she's a secret b/c I don't want her getting too much business and getting too hard to fit in and raising her prices. If you need someone, email me and I'll reluctantly share her name! 😉
thank you so much for watching and commenting on my little video!! I had fun doing it so I think I'll be making a few more, once I figure out what to do next!
Your pregnancy is going by so quickly! your going to have a little girl in your arms in no time!! and I love see all your bump outfits 🙂

Hi!
First off, I want to say that I am really inspired by you! You are very put together and composed. I admire you as a career woman as well! I am just finishing graduate school now and am looking forward to starting my own career.
Additional, I noticed that you always have such lovely necklaces. Do you think you could do a post about where to get them? Also, I am interested in your day to day schedule as I want to see how you are able to budget time on your normal work days. Do you think you could do a post about this as well?
You are a great "big sis" for a girl who doesn't have one 😉 Keep it up!
Best,
Jamie
I agree with the others- you won't be disappointed with this stroller! It's the best!
Completely jealous of your bare legs! It's like 5000 degrees below zero in the Northeast. I cannot wait to be done with tights and back into bare legs!! Your closet rules. I need to go organize mine. I find I forget I have different things, and end up in a fashion slump. As far as hair cuts go,I too am in need of one. I've recently relocated to northern NJ for my job, and have yet to find a place I love. I don't color my hair, but most people I know go to different people/specialists for their highlights or color.
EEK! You'll love the uppababy! We have one in silver. 🙂
I was just at the Gap and saw the "Peter Rabbit" baby clothes! So cute!
i've been needing to change up my closet too, but i'm waiting a little bit longer before i drag my more summery stuff from storage
Organized closets make me happy too – well organized anything really. Crazy to see that you bought an Uppababy. My cousin's friend actually started that company! It's exciting to see how they've grown. Hope you enjoy it!

We have the Jake and I love it :). We even have the bassinet stand and the carseat adapter—I'm also days away from buying the snack tray 🙂
It's a perfect stroller and I get comments and questions all the time!
I don't have that stroller but I wanted it. It was easy to maneauver in the store. We bought a travel system and that was a mistake being that I am not fond of the newborn carseat. If you plan to get a carseat, please make sure to get a convertible. It is really poinless for the newborn one IMO.
@jennifer- all of the research I've done says it's best to get an infant carseat and then switch to a convertible. That is our plan. We like that the infant seat weighs less and can be used with the stroller frame 🙂
I also have the vista stroller. i got it from zulily.com for half off. they ran out of black which would have been my choice. (i have a tan color)
i really like it. get the car seat adapter. i have a chicco key fit 30 car seat. i think it is $30 at amazon.
i like the stroller. it is easy to maneuver and the basinet was great.
pros. my basinet collapses too easy and sometimes the stroller is too bulky and wide.
it has gotten alot of use and i would buy it again.
also go to woman's work store for maternity nursing and sleep bras. i love them!! i freaked out when my son was a newborn and i rented a baby scale from them. also got my nursing pillow (which you really dont need after like 2 months. they have everything for nursing. those first weeks of nursing are hard.
how is your heartburn(reflux)? i took calcium/magnesium tablets when i was pregnant 3 times a day and had no heartburn or reflux when i was preggo. remember this when the baby starts getting bigger. calcium stops the heartburn and magnesium helps your body absorb it.
your also smart to not buy any 0-3. totally didn't listen. my son was average 20 inches 7.5 pounds and he could wear 3-6 months at 1 month.
Did you buy your Gap skinny maternity pants in store? I cannot find them ANYWHERE, and definitely not online, but I'm in desperate need of non-frumpy work-friendly pants, and the black ones you have there would be perfect.
@audra– yes I got them in the actual maternity store. They were one of the last pairs left and it was around Christmastime. They may just not have them anymore, sorry you are having a hard time finding them.
@catiaspi- I have had heartburn/reflux in weeks, fortunately. It was just that one week in my pregnancy that I had it. I feel lucky!
We have the vista in black and LOVE it. I'd still recommend getting an umbrella stroller too since the Vista is large. The vista is definitely worth the splurge. An infant car seat is also a must–we have the Chicco and have been happy with it. Instead of the vista bassinet, I used the carseat adapter before he was ready for the regular stroller seat. The bassinet is great though and big and comfy enough for baby to sleep in if you want to do that instead of a pack and play. I'd also register for a carrier for a bigger baby…the k'tan is great while they're tiny, but we love our ergo for our 18 pound 6 month old. Isn't it exciting to finally make some fun baby purchases??!!
@allison— thank you SO much for the Ergo recommendation. My husband would really like one of the backpack-style carriers where baby can be front-facing! He is going to look so cute carrying her 🙂
I also got the Uppa in Jake for my LO due at the end May. I'd suggest taking it out of the box a few months before your baby is due and letting it air out in your garage. Mine had a really strong plastic/chemical/rubbery smell to it when I first opened it up but it's fine now.
I also have the Vista and I absolutely love it! It is so practical and very comfortable for my baby. I used the basinet when he was a newborn and now in his seat he is the happiest baby. I love that the basket is so big, other strollers have tiny baskets. I also used it with the car seat connectors for my maxi cosi mico, just wonderful! I cannot say enough good things about it. I also have a Maclaren Denim umbrella stroller for quicker trips. Love both of them! Good luck with the baby!
You'll love the stroller! I only got a couple of outfits at my showers (I had 4 showers too!). We also didn't put her in onesies or sleepers except at bedtime – I say shop to your heart's content for her! 🙂
Not trying to be a debbie downer, but you should check out the City Select. It doesnt' come with the bassinet but I think buying the stroller/bassinet and car seat adaptor still makes it cheaper than the Vista.
I didn't like how flimsy the vista felt. It felt like it was made of cheap plastic vs the metal of the city select.
I LOVE the city select. I didn't buy the extra seat because DD1 is four and old enough to walk most places. (she does use the seat at times when we have DD2 in the ergo.) It's super sturdy DD1 can climb in and out without me having a heart attack thinking she's going to topple over.
Before you open the vista I suggest checking it out and comparing. I know it's not as popular as a name as the uppababy, but seriously it's built so much better.
We just purchased the Vista in Jake for our little one coming in April! So excited for it to get here.
You're looking great!
Thanks so much for sharing your maternity style! It's so hard to find inspiration for stylish and affordable clothes while prego! I'm 3 months pregnant and I'm voraciously reading through all of your posts and making my shopping list.
