I figured I’d start this weekly update with an outfit post! These were taken at 17 weeks, 5 days pregnant.
How far along? 17 weeks (I do these a week behind as a recap, so I’m actually 18 weeks today)
Total weight gain/loss: At my last appointment I had gained 4lbs, but when I weighed myself at my in laws, I was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight so it looks like it is still fluctuating.
Maternity clothes? I bought some dress pants and black skinny pants at GAP maternity for 50% off. I also got three long sleeved v-neck tops there. I don’t need them yet but everything was so inexpensive that I decided to go for it. I wore the black skinny pants to work on the 24th and they were great—but they really stretched out as I wore them so I am going to have to try and shrink them a bit. Word to the wise, size down a size or two from your normal size in GAP maternity. That’s what I did and I still find the skinny pants got baggy. I will report back on the GAP modern boot dress pants as well.
Stretch marks? Not yet (still using Belli’s Elasticity Belly Oil at night and Mamma Mio Tummy Rub during the day).
Symptoms: Nothing new from past weeks. I am feeling pretty good.
Sleep: Still using my Snoogle and have been sleeping well. Sleeping on my left side is becoming easier.
Best moment this week: Getting to see the baby at our elective u/s. We went to find out the baby’s sex before Christmas, but baby’s cord was between its legs the entire time. No biggie! We will find out when baby is good and ready 🙂
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Not really.
Movement: I continue to feel those popcorn popping sensations in the evening. Sometimes it’s several pops in a row and sometimes just once or twice. I can’t wait to feel movement more consistently!
Food cravings: I’m not sure if I’m having cravings versus just liking things. I haven’t had a moment this week where I just HAD TO have something. One thing I have been loving lately are egg McMuffins and breakfast burritos. Maybe my body is asking for the protein from the eggs! I’m also loving these iced gingerbread cookies that come out around the holidays…but I’m obsessed with them every year!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I sometimes hate the idea of eating chicken. I hate plain chicken right now—it has to be stuffed or have some kind of sauce or be chicken salad. Plain, grilled chicken is a no-go for me lately.
Have you started to show yet: My stomach continues to fluctuate in size. I totally thought I finally popped…and then one day I woke up and my belly was smaller than it was two weeks prior. It looks like it will just take some time for this belly to pop.
Gender prediction: We hope to find out whenever baby is ready to show us!
Belly Button in or out? In, but it’s starting to look less deep than it used to.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Hitting the 20 week mark. I can’t believe I’ll be halfway through the pregnancy in just two weeks. Our anatomy scan is the second week of January and we are praying for a healthy baby.

You look fantastic V! Love the bag! The neverful has been on my wishlist for a while, either the Damier Azure or the Daminer Canvas. How do you like yours so far?
You look great!
Almost all of my maternity clothes were from Gap. I found that the sizing in Gap's maternity pants really varied depending on the style. I bought a pair of skinny jeans in my normal size and had to size down, but I bought a pair of cords in my normal size and had to exchange for 2 sizes up. The dressy pants never fit me right all around no matter what size I bought.
Old Navy has decent maternity tops, too, on the more casual side, and Target has a good selection of both casual and dressier, too.
I hope baby cooperates and reveals the goods! I'm sure you're so anxious!
You are wearing pregnancy very well, my dear! Once you really pop your regular size will fit. I loved my Gap skinnies and Seven fAM jeans the best.
You look fantastic! I'm 36 weeks today with twins and lived in these Gap jeans. Super flattering, stretchy and I swear they make your legs look slimmer: https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=6019&vid=1&pid=871404002
You look great! And I love the bag. I got it as my wedding gift from my husband and know it'll be a forever piece for me.
You definitely don't look pregnant! Such a cute look, you are adorable.

LOVE the print of that blouse Veronika! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🙂

I had the WORST chicken aversion for most of my pregnancy. I was even disgusted by the smell of it. I ate breakfast foods pretty much every meal and LOVED egg Mcmuffins throughout the pregnancy as well 🙂
But don't worry, as soon as my hormones got back to normal, I loved it again!
best,
xo

It is definitely true about the GAP Maternity pants and jeans! They get so baggy. I didn't understand it.
Also, I was like you where I didn't think of the things I ate as cravings, that is until after I had Emma. I was in love with eggs during my pregnancy. I just thought it was me wanting the proteins or whatever, lol. Also veggies were a big thing for me. I hated sweets like cake and cookies.
I love to read what's going on with you, because we are pregnant with our first too and are just a couple of days behind you! That being said, I'm in the same boat you are: it seems like I've "popped", but then suddenly my tummy is back to normal! So weird. And as for food cravings and aversions, I seem to mostly be indecisive about what I eat… I just can't decide what I want! The strangest part is that I now strongly dislike both pizza and ice cream… both things I loved prior to being pregnant! So weird. Keep on posting 🙂
I agree with a previous commenter, Gap sizing really varied by style, which was annoying because the best selection was online and it was just kind of hassle to buy lots of sizes and return what didn't fit. Also, I know maternity lines market the demi panel as a mid pregnancy pant, but I found that style to be way too big. I bought the full panel from the beginning and just folded it down until I needed it. It actually worked out great because folding the panel made for a snugger fit, so I could wear them when my regular pants didn't fit but I didn't need full panel maternity pants yet. Another tip is to buy a Bella Band and use that to keep maternity pants up until your belly is big enough!
You look great; I can't wait for your gender reveal!
So glad you are doing so well. Hubby and I are guessing that you will have a boy. Are you still going to have a post on your Christmas decorations? I hope so.
you look great V. I hated chicken my entire pregnancy :/ oh and don't rush into buying maternity clothes I'd say. I never ended up needing any. I gave birth in August and summer clothes all fit me and I was always in dresses (no pants, lol). I only put on 20 lbs though the entire pregnancy.
Best of luck in the second half of pregnancy. I found for me the further along I was the slowest time seemed to go by.
awww… congrats!! I'm 24 weeks pregnant with our first. Time is flying!!!
I LOVE your shirt! I've been dying for that one

you are such a skinny minny! You're gonna look so cute once you finally pop!
Chicken was the only thing that repulsed me when I was pregnant. One night, Peter made us salads with chicken breast, avocado, mixed greens, peppers – a meal I normally love – and I couldn't even look at it. I had to cover my eyes and ask him to take it away. Everything else was fair game.
You look great. Love reading your pregnancy updates!
You are looking gorgeous!
You look like Kate Middleton
I just got that same bag for my birthday, do you have an organizer in it? I was thinking I could definitely use it for toting baby items around in a few months! You look fabulous! xo
