I’ll never forget the time I was at the Toronto’s Pearson airport just relaxing, hanging out at the gate when suddenly I realized that just a few rows down were Robert Buckley and Shantel VanSanten from One Tree Hill (yes, I watched that show and yes, I cried every episode).
Unfortunately, I was wearing bright turquoise, cropped, paint-stained VS PINK track pants and a sweater. Basically, I looked disheveled and I was too embarrassed to go up to them and be all “hey I love the show will y’all take a picture with me?”
I’ve learned my lesson and now I make an effort to travel in comfort AND style. In fact, I wore this outfit on the way to Toronto:
On the way back from Toronto, it was a little cooler so I dressed in layers. All of my effort paid off because as we were sitting at our gate, my husband suddenly said “hey look, there’s Michael Cera.” By the time I looked up, Mr. Cera was already behind the glass about to board—but had he just been hanging out, I might have gone up and said “hey, I loved you in Juno…” and then I probably would have made an awkward comment about Arrested Development and never nudes that I would regret. Hopefully he would have taken a photo with me just to get me to go away. Mission accomplished…
…and instead of turquoise, paint-stained sweatpants (I threw them out when I got home from that last trip) I would have been wearing THIS:

Cute clothes! you have inspired me to dress cute and casual on my next flight, I usually dress like a hag, ha ha. Where is the maxi from? I am 5'11 and have a hard time finding cute long dresses.
I like to wear leggings and big tunics when I travel.
And I will always bring a scarf on the plane.

I definitely learned my lesson about dressing cute on flights the last time that I flew. I don't remember what changed, but I promised myself to look a little better. I absolutely love your outfits!
I wore those exact jeans when we flew to Crete! I love them so much I went & bought them in black also! I think jeans/ loose fitting T and something you can throw over the top is a good outfit for flying! I always get chilly on planes! x
I also like looking decent while traveling and will most often be rocking a pair of skinnies and a cardi. No reason to look as tired and gross as I usually feel after a long flight 🙂

I allways wear a cute outfit,I have two little girls that I take pictures of non-stop sometimes with me or their daddy in the pic and I want them to remmember a pretty mummy,not a sloppy mummy!:)
Just jeans and a long sleeve shirt and I take a hoody with me because on long haul flights the blanket they give you isn't big or warm enough.

That is a super cute outfit, but the only time I take a plane it's for 10 hours to Europe… then it won't be comfy enough 🙂
I love one tree hill too! I actually sat next to Vince Neil from Motley Crue on a flight and was too embarrassed to ask him for a picture the entire time… I keep telling myself if that ever happens again with any celeb I'll grow a pair!

Not gonna lie..I'm ridiculously jealous you saw them! I loved OTH….my husband and I went to Wilmington for a day-where OTH was filmed and we visited all the sites-from Tric to Karen's Cafe to Lucas's house. I totally would have went up and said hi though…or at least tried to…though it would have probably came out a blubbering string of nonsense. 😉

Skinny jeans with some stretch in them, cute flats, ribbed tank and a sweater jacket. Anytime I fly it is my "go to" look. I really like a waist length sweater jacket that belts so I can wrap up in it if I'm cold – I refuse to use the airline blankets.
I think I have the exact same jeans from Zara. Nice to get a new outfit idea!
I'm sorry Veronika – I shouldn't have said that. I also get annoyed when people speculate about me, so I should have known better. Sometimes those dresses, or the way we stand, create imaginary bumps. You do NOT need to work out more, you look amazing! On my 14 hour flight to Australia, I wore black skinny jeans, my favorite chambray shirt and a VS model scarf – its so big and soft it doubles as a blanket/pillow. I always try to travel comfy and stylish – no sweatpants allowed!
Thanks Lynne 🙂 honestly, it's just frustrating because when I was working out a ton I was told I was too skinny and now I'm aparently pregnant if I'm not at 17% body fat. I will announce a pregnancy 12 weeks in IF it ever happens. We have not started trying yet so we'll see!

( I just wanted to comment that you look great, and everyone can get the occasional bump look in a flowy dress, so that probably with the other girls saw, and your picture is taken in front of baby items, not sure if you noticed that, lol!, so thats probably why they said something. But like I said you look great and have def inspired me to dress up better for my next plane ride =)

Great outfits! I like to travel in maxis and blazers as well-I always get so cold and it's nice to have the extra fabric available. I always bring a scarf to double as a blanket 🙂

I love wearing maxi dresses to the airport, the only problem I've had is they ALWAYS insist on patting me down if I'm wearing one!
Veronika, you look great! You absolutely do not need to slim down. Those flowing dresses can do that. Stick your hip out at an odd angle, and the dress flows straight down, creating a bump. It happens to the best of us, and it happens to celebrities all the time.

I have to wear socks or tights when I fly, b/c I won't take off my shoes and go thru security barefoot. It gives me the heebie jeebies. Fortunately I haven't traveled during the warm season in about 5yrs so I've always worn jeans.
Am I the only person in the world who gets blazingly hot on planes? I don't think I've ever been cold on a flight.
I wear maxi dresses too because they provide mobility and if I have an itch on my leg I can get to it lol. But I have to bring a cardigan or jacket because planes are always freezing.

I usually travel in jeans, long sleeved tops and pashminas. But I recently got a really cute BeBe track suit to wear on my upcoming trip to Moscow. Long long flight and I think I'll be the most comfortable 🙂

Hey girl, I wouldn't take the "bumpy" comments too personal. I think as women, and readers, we pick up on tidbits like "I have gone off birth control" so we just assume its to try for a baby. I know I've been waiting to see if you're pregnant, not at all because you look it, but because of the BC line in your post about acne. You look great, trust.

I love the blazer/maxi combo! I have a simple black blazer that is my go to item for flying- it looks good and keeps me warm. The aqua is so fun though! I love it.
We shared a flight with Tim Gunn from NYC to Dallas a little over a few years ago- I looked like I had been run over by a train so I didn't go up to him (and my husband had NO clue who he was or why I was so excited), I learned my lesson on dressing nice for flights!

Great post! I jsut did a post about airport outfits… it is so difficult… I think its really comfy to travel on juicy tracksuits…but really? never again…. now I try to travel better…maybe with jeggings… but with cute blouses and blazers. Love ur airport outfit!!!
