Hi everyone! I think the video I am about to link is the most requested tutorial ever on my blog. I am so thrilled I finally filmed this video and I hope it helps anyone who is looking to see my curling iron technique!
Have a great weekend everyone!
xoxo,
Veronika.
Thanks for taking the time to shoot a video. I know how much work that can be ๐
my life in style
aww thanks chelsea ๐ i really enjoy making them so it's fun!
What size is your curling iron? Looks bigger than the standard 1 inch barrel/ And I LOVE your videos! Kudos to you to taking the time out for doing them!
@cmae—i mentioned in the video that it is either 1 1/4 inches or 1 1/2 inches ๐ i also said what the model # was so you might be able to tell by that? I hope so ๐
Ah. I always seem to miss these little tidbits you say lol note to self have NOTHING else on in the background to distract me when watching Veronica's tutorials!!!
cmae—LOL! don't worry, I understand that i completely ramble on and on ๐ it's easy to miss!
Thank you so much for posting this! I had been wanting to ask you if you were going to do a hair tutorial, I had no idea so many others were on the same page! I just feel like my hair is so blah all the time, and I'd love to add some "pizazz" to it. I'll definitely be trying this hairstyle.
How did you learn how to do it? Did you just make it up yourself or did you learn it from someone else?
@kate— I adapted a bunch of techniques I saw on YouTube until I found a method that worked for me and my hair ๐
thanks for this girl! awesome tutorial! ๐
love, rach.

Does your hair hold curl easily? It seems like I can only get mine to stay if I use a ton of pomade, curling spray, and hair spray. I can't just curl it and hairspray it and be done. It will all be out by the time I get done curling it. I think that's part of the reason I never curl mine. It's a lot of work to get it to stay in.
@anon—you need to try using a higher temperature on your curling iron. I wasn't able to get my hair to hold a curl when I was using a conair iron I got at the drugstore…the Hot Tools one changed everything. Also, try putting hairspray in your hair before you curl it.
omg i just recorded one today!! ha ha ha great minds think alike!
can't wait to check yours out!
I am so glad that you posted this!!! I have a wedding to go to this weekend and I always wanted to curl my hair but it never comes out the way I want it to. I am going to try it out this week!!! Thank you so much!
This was a really helpful video, thank you! You are a very pretty woman and seeing your personality come through on your video made me see you in a different light. I left a kind of snotty comment the other day about how many pictures you post in each entry, and I regret that. You seem like a very nice person and very friendly. It makes a difference to hear someone's voice and "see" them, that's for sure! It's hard to read tone through writing, and I was clearly taking your tone the wrong way. I apologize for that!
Is there a reason to start the curl from the root instead of the tip of the hair? I notice that my hairdresser always does that, and you did too. Just curious why… For some reason I can't make that work out very well for myself!
Another thing I think I am doing wrong is not leaving the hair clamped long enough. I usually wind each piece, leave it in the curling iron for a few seconds, then let it out. You seemed to leave each curl in for much longer. Is that what I should be doing? Does it fry your hair? It must not- you hair doesn't seem fried! I get nervous leaving it in there too long!
Thanks!!
Hi Veronika,
I've been reading your blog for a while now, and am happy to see you have started to make videos!
One question about the curling iron: do you know if it will work in Europe? I tried looking everywhere online for an answer, but can't seem to find one. What does it say on the curling iron about the voltage? Is it only 110v or 110~240v? I'm looking for something I could use overseas. Any help you could offer would be appreciated!
Thanks again and keep the videos coming! ๐
Though tempting as it may be to use hairspray before curling or flat ironing hair, essentially it is baking alcohol into the hair & drying it out severely.
I am a hot roller girl but you've inspired me to go buy a curling iron today and try it out! Thanks!
Lovely vid V! Your curls are perfection.
@hadley—thanks so much for your comment, I really appreciate that you came back here to say that. I think you're right, it's hard to see how someone really is just in their writing.
@anon—hairdresses spray hair with hairspray before curling too. I don't think it's the best to do it all the time, but for special occasions if you need that extra hold.
hadley— i curl from the root down because I think it gives the hair more lasting volume to start the curl from the roots.
about your question about how long to leave it there…it's not good to leave it there super long, but as long as you don't smell burning or see your hair smoking, you should be okay. I leave it on a little longer because i tend to do larger sections of hair at one time which requires a little more time ๐
Thanks so much for posting this! I have been wanting to see your curling process for a while. Very, very helpful!
Yayy!! Thank you for posting this! I can't wait to try it out. Your blog is my favorite and I am so glad you are done moving in and can post more ๐
What temperature do you put your curling iron on? Oh, and thanks for the video ๐
@anon—about 7 or 7.5 for curling iron temperature ๐
I bought a Hot Tools curling iron ages ago but never found a method that worked for me. I tried again after watching your tutorial and finally got it right! Thanks so much for sharing ๐
To the commenter who asked whether the Hot Tools curling iron works in Europe, it does. I live in London and bought mine from Amazon (along with a converter plug) x
your curly hair looks awesome!
I LOVE your videos! You inspiring me!
