I headed to the mall today to check out the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I ended up picking up these fabulous (and widely popular) Kendra Scott “Danielle” earrings. They are so pretty and were on sale for $37.90 down from $58. Too great of a deal to pass up! I’d also like to get them in the turquoise color, but they didn’t have em’ so I’ll have to wait until they go on sale on the official website or via another retailer.
Now, onto the glasses news! I had my eyes checked for the first time in about 10 years because I have trouble driving at night and I’m on my computer a lot so my eyes have just been feeling tired sometimes. It turns out, I need a little bit of a prescription (- 0.75) and my vision isn’t 20/20 anymore. My glasses will be for night driving and things like watching movies. I can use them when I’m on my computer a lot too. It’s amazing how much sharper things look when I was doing my eye test.
I had my eyes tested at Houston’s Vision Optique. They were so great and I LOVE Dr. Shen Lee! She is so sweet and made the whole process comfortable and easy.
At my bootcamp class on Friday evening, a friend of mine mentioned that she also recently got glasses and told me about this kind of random eyeglass frame store that looks really junky on the outside but actually has really cute frames. I went to check it out today because it was open until 5, and wouldn’t you know it, I ended up buying the first (and only) pair I tried on. I literally saw them, put them on my face, looked in the mirror and was like “love em’!” and I just bought them on the spot. I had originally wanted Chanel glasses but since I won’t be wearing them that often, I didn’t know if I wanted to spend hundreds of dollars on em’. I still have to get my lenses created and I’ll be going back to my eye doctor for that. The glasses are by a brand called “Ernest Hemingway.” I had never heard of that before, but my motto is, if it looks good, the brand doesn’t matter.”

I love that they are tortoise shell because it goes well with my hair and coloring. I had originally planned to get black ones, but I really enjoy these.

LOVE that ring! I had no idea Pandora had rings, will have to check it out! Oh, and if you ever want another pair of glasses, spring for the Chanels! I did 4 years ago and still love them as much as the day I bought them. They are tortoise shell with a subtle pear green stripe in top of the frame that you only see when looking down on them…LOVE THEM. I wear my glasses for the same reasons you do, too! The ones you got look great! 🙂
I have terrible vision so glasses/contacts are required. My eyes are -6.25!!

I tortured myself today and actually tried on those Valentino's in Nordstrom. I shouldn't have because it only made me love them more. I do like the Ivanka pair though. Great look for less!
I have really bad eyesight so I wear contacts, but do have a pair of glasses too. I splurged on some Tom Ford frames earlier this year. I probably shouldn't have spent so much though, but they were the only pair in the store that was love. I'm trying to leave the glasses and contacts behind though and get laser eye surgery this year.

You look amazing in your new glasses! Crazy that the first pair were "the ones". I have poor vision so contacts and glasses are a must, but I prefer my contacts. I wear my glasses at home or on days when my eyes are tired. Mine are a black pair of Chanel.

Oh my gosh, I love all of your purchases! The earrings and ring are so pretty and unique. The shoes are TDF! I wish I had cute little feet to wear heels like that, but my feet are wide and they aren't flattering at all on me. 🙁 Love the frames as well! You look gorg!
The glasses look great! I've worn glasses (and contacts) for years now and I actually love the way they look on me. My frames are made by Kate Spade. Also, I love the earrings! I've had my eye on them for so long but sadly I don't live anywhere near a Nordstrom store. 🙁 I may be headed to Boston in just over a week so perhaps I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope there's a pair left!!

I also had to get glasses for the first time in my late 20's. I was told they were for driving, movies, etc. but they didn't really make a difference for me. After I had my son (or maybe it was because I turned 30)my vision quickly went downhill and now I have to have them to read anything!
The glasses are super cute on you and the tortoiseshell is a great color. A few years ago, I had to get them, as well. I started at -0.5 and now I'm at -1.75, so it has gotten worse. I always had perfect vision when I was younger; I blame the computer. I use them for driving, watching movies, teaching, etc…..I don't feel like I need contacts at this point, so I just keep my glasses with me in my purse at all times.
The glasses look really good on you and they seem more like a accessory than 'glasses'! I'm getting glasses soon and I didn't really want them but now I really want to see how they'll look on me : )

I love all of your purchases except the glasses. I think you should have splurged since it's something you'll wear daily. I have d&g glasses and I LOVE them. Maybe it's just the angle of the pictures, but it looks like the ones you chose are too big for your face. Just my opinion. 🙂 I really, really love the ring!!
@anon—i wont really be wearing them daily, since i don't always drive at night, but I see your point. I am actually going to my eye doctor this week to see what my insurance will cover and try on some more frames just in case—if my insurance will cover them at 100% then I might get another pair too 🙂 I like the ones I got a lot—they even look great on my H!

I have glasses but I also have contacts, and have had both for 12+ years. I used to be a much bigger fan of my contacts but since I was prescribed with having Astigmatism this past winter, I love my glasses a lot more just bc my contacts dry out so much faster than they used to. And I got a new pair of frames almost 3 years ago, they're Gucci and I still LOVE them!

About 2 months ago I went to the optometrist, which was a big mistake. He told me I had to wear my glasses all the time now, and not only to watch tv or read anymore!!! I was sooo disapointed, I hate that! I can't wear my extra large Ray-Ban sunglasses anymore :-(. Here I am with tiny little glasses, and no style at all in the sun … Yours are cool though. But won't you miss real sunglasses?

When I first got glasses I specifically bought the thinnest frames possible, to not detract from my face. Recently, I bought new ones with rectangular lenses and bronze-ish frames. I like that they're a bit bolder, but still classic looking.

You are lucky your eye doctor will put lenses in frames that you didn't buy from his/her office. I need glasses now too and can't find anyone who will put lenses in frames I bought elsewhere. So far, I have three pairs of Chanel frames I love, but no sunglasses that I love. I wanted sunglass lenses put in my Oakleys.

Love all of your purchases! I wear contacts but updated my glasses a couple months ago. Some brand I have never heard of before, also tortoise but a lighter color. My fave pair are my coach tortoise shell with little rhinestones on the sides.

Great finds! I am obsessed with the KS 'Danielle' (i have 4 pairs) and was excited to pick up the Kelly Green on sale! I recently got glasses for driving at night and the computer too! I did a black to gray gradient and LOVE them 🙂 AND I am obsessing over those Ivanka shoes! GREAT L4L!!
