You may have seen that I picked up this lacy top last weekend at Zara on sale for $29.99 from $59.90 (I had my eye on it for awhile but didn’t take the plunge, hoping for a sale!)
I wore it on Monday and I absolutely loved it. Someone even asked me “why I was so dressed up on a Monday?” I think this top has a dressier vibe and I love that it’s a bit cropped because it looks great paired with a high-waisted pencil skirt.

Beautiful top!
Your black outfits are beautiful, but I thought you were going to make an effort to incorporate more color into your day to day wardrobe? Some of your brighter outfits look great, too!
I love it! so pretty…
anon—most of my more recent outfits have been more colorful
Such a classic outfit, and of course, love the necklace! 🙂
Love this one! The lace top looks great with those shoes.
I like the detailing around the neckline and on the sleeves but it's kind of shapeless. Maybe it needs a belt? I don't know.
I love the shirt and necklace(and have the same one) 🙂

I love this top, but the pair together has no shape.
@anon—the top can't be belted because it's cropped. I may be in the minority here, but I love to sometimes wear boxier styles and looser stuff over more fitted and tailored styles. It's a fun change every once in awhile. The top was created to fit that way—cropped and boxy. It's not meant to be fitted or body-skimming.
I understand the cut, it would just look nicer and more flattering with something form fitting on the bottom, like slim slacks. The pencil skirt gives you a straight line from the shoulders to the knee imo. That being said, I'm hunting this top down this weekend 🙂
@anon—I don't own any slacks that are a skinny fit, and this pencil skirt is one of my most fitted ones I own. I bet it would look cute with skinny jeans but I can't wear those to work.
I agree with you Veronika. I like boxier styles paired with more fitted things sometimes. I think they look great together. Does the top look good tucked in the pencil skirt?
@sarah—I can't tuck the top in, being 5'10, my torso is just too long…it could work on someone shorter though.
LOVE the Kate Spade lace up shoes. I just made it out to the Kate Spade outlet last weekend but came home with just a wallet. Shoes were all too expensive. Someday I hope =)
love the whole outfit but the shoes are stunning 🙂

Unrelated question: When can we see pictures of you wearing your Kate Spade Fiorella earrings?!? 🙂
@allycat—i can email you a pic of me wearing them…i took it to show someone the size.
actually…i just looked thru my iphone and i deleted it 🙁
I love your layout — too cute! This outfit is fantastic, totally something I'd wear.
Those shoes are divine.
I love, love, love your blog. I have been reading it for a few months, and I just now realized I went to middle school and high school with your husband. Talk about a small world.
alyssa—how cool! it really is a small world 🙂
Love the zara top! My bff got the one in nude. Looks gorgeous with skirts, imo 🙂
