I’m totally embarrassed to do this post, but I also think it might be just the push I need to stop having so many darn products in my shower!
Yep, you guessed it, it’s a “what’s in my shower?” post. I can’t even ramble on enough to justify even 50% of the stuff in there, so I’m just going to begin, hanging my head in shame.
This is our shower. It’s a diamond shape with two shower heads. Sorry my shower is kind of dirty. And you can kind of see my razor off to the side there.
I recently bought this shower shelf type thing. We use to have one of those massive shower caddy’s that went from the floor all the way up to our 12 ft ceilings, but the pressure of it caused our ceiling to get sort of a hole in it over time so we replaced in a couple of weeks ago with this caddy (I have no idea how the initial hole in the ceiling didn’t really motivate us to get one of these sooner, but I digress….okay so maybe it’s not an actual hole, but it’s like the ceiling sort of has a slit in it).
Here’s my bath poof. Pink, of course. I use this with my body wash.
The top shelf has my fave shampoo and a face wash. From left—Bumble and Bumble purple shampoo
The second shelf is primarily full of conditioners. From left— European Wax Center exfoliator, Living Proof thickening conditioner
Next up, from left— the H’s H&S shampoo
And if you didn’t think all of that was enough, H and I have our own body washes on the bottom shelf.
Please tell me there is someone reading this who is also a shower hoarder (and BTW, I had even more stuff in there before we got this new caddy, and I can’t believe I’m admitting that.)
What’s in YOUR shower? Do you wait to finish products or do you buy new stuff to try out and end up having too many products like me?

I want to say you have a crazy amount of products, but I'm sitting here thinking about what I have in the bathroom and it's probably about the same. Except mine aren't in the shower, but instead in the closet in the bathroom.
I'm horribly guilty of buying products and using them for a little while and then finding something new and wanting to try it before I finish the first product. All of which results in half empty bottles of shampoo/conditioner/body wash all over the place. Oops! haha
when I saw how many products you had in there, I figured we'd have one in common.
We don't : (
How is that even possible?! haha kidding… I do have a poof tho!
CarissaExplainsItAll
@lindsey—I wish there was a way I could donate products I only used halfway or even just a few times…like to a women's shelter or something…but I don't know if they would accept used products, even if they are sanitary (ie: shampoo where you don't dip your fingers into it versus something like an eye cream which would not be good to give to someone else.)
I have a lot of products in my shower too but thankfully I use them all at the moment! haha I am guilty of stocking up though.
I'm embarassed to say I probably have more…I have 2 shower caddies & things on the floor…oops. 🙂
Wow, I guess i'm a minimalist when it comes to shower products. I use one shampoo, one conditioner, one soap, salt scrub, and a bath poof.
I am a hoarder of lotions and scrubs, but you definitely have me beat on the in-shower essentials! lol. My OB-Gyn told me once that all women should be using Dove bar soap, so I religiously stick to that.
@jessica— i didn't picture it—but I do use dove bar soap for sensitive skin as well—especially for delicate areas like my underarms
Wow, I think we have about the same number of products but most of the stuff are not in the shower because I hate clutter (and we don't have a place to put up a shower rack like yours in our shower)
I store them in a closet located across from the bathroom. Let's say I want to deep condition my hair today, I'll take out of the closet and bring it to the shower, use it, then put it back inside the closet when I'm done.
My husband just shakes his head when he sees how much stuff I have. All he uses is his own shower gel. He uses my shampoo, conditioner and facewash, ha ha.
I'm a shower hoarder! LOL. I did some organizing though last week and got rid of a bunch. With my stuff and the kids bath toys, my poor husband had no room left for his shampoo. 😉 I had to do it for him – poor guy. LOL.
I'm the exact same way with products… but I'm worse with body lotion! I've usually got about 6 or so different scents.
PS where did you get that caddy?
Not so much of a shower hoarder, but I have a question – how do you ever use up any of those shampoos/conditioners? Since I switched from washing my hair daily to washing it 3 times a week, it takes me forever to get through a bottle! I've had the same stuff since September and I am so ready to get something different!
@sb—the shower caddy is from Marshall's Home Goods! it was under $25!
I don't think that's too much to be completely honest with you. I used to have around that much, now I only take in what I use everyday.
ooh ooh shower hoarders here! haha 😉 girl I just think it's smart. We gotta have something for all situations! xo
wow… now I REALLY feel embarrassed at how much I keep in my shower! I have a holder a lot like yours and I've at to take over a little space on the floor as well. From reading your comments…. you and I must not be normal with the excessive amount of shower products we have. lol
I tend to have more shower gels than anything, I got sick of cleaning the shower around them though so I only keep one in the shower and the rest under the sink. My shower still feels cluttered though because I have body scrub, face scrub, face cleanser, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, deep conditioner, and razor all in there haha.
@justine—yay! another shower hoarder, welcome 🙂 we need to start a shower hoarder's anonymous group!
@loulou— I agree—sometimes, i want a deep conditioner, other times a volumizing one! I need options!
@sarah— you can join our shower hoarders anonymous group too. I seriously have an entire plastic drawer/bin thing from target full of hair products and body lotions too—but that's another post for another time.
The only thing I don't hoard too badly is cosmetics—I'm a neutral kind of gal and stick with what I love.
i have a ton of products!! and use maybe 10% of them :/

haha, this was a cute post Veronika. a fun take on the "what's in my handbag" posts that everyone does. maybe some bloggers will follow suit and take you up on the shower post idea!
i actually don't think you have too many products. it's a lot, but not overwhelming! i like that you have different shampoos/conditioners so that you can change it up. i only have 1 shampoo in my shower right now but i should get a second so i can go back and forth between them and not have my hair get too used to one product.
My shower looks exactly the same!!! I have a bunch of different shampoos/conditioners that I alternate using. I also have a huge collection of body wash/face wash… if I don't like it I usually try something else and end up with 20 bottles in the shower.. whoops! 🙂
I'm a shower hoarder too! The side rims of my tub are filled with products that barely get any use. It's bad but then I feel like if I take them out, I'll need them.
I used to be, but have reformed my ways after recent budget cuts! I'm with ya – I'm such a sucker for hair and bath products – especially if they're in pretty bottles!!! 🙂

I have 1 shampoo, 3 conditioners, shaving cream, facial cleanser, microdermabrasion scrub for my face, salt scrub for my body, cold cream, body wash, a razor and a washcloth.
H has 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, and 1 bar of Irish Spring, but I'm pretty sure he uses my cleanser.
Girlfriend, it must take you *FOREVER* to get through these products. lol 🙂 I try to be good about products any not purchase any until I've used up what I have. I love spending money but sometimes, ok most of the thime, this girl has to choose shoes over products.
Am I the only one that noticed the Head and Shoulders listed at $34 through Amazon.com? Umm… That stuff costs like 5 bucks. Haha!
What?! I think your shower looks like sheer heaven! I think it's actually organized very well because of that shelf you have. I have a small shower caddy, but it isn't big enough to house all my products. I'm cutting back on products though to minimize clutter!
I totally used to be a shower hoarder. While I still have a crap-ton of products, I've pared down my shower situation to 2 face products, shave gel, body wash, 2 shampoos, 3 conditioners, a razor, a foot file, and a body pouf. Everything else I keep on storage shelves in my basement, and I force myself to use up what's in my shower before I restock it with something from the basement. I might still have just as much crap, but at least there's less of it in the actual shower, right?
r product hoarder! Glad to see I'm not alone. Between that and the hair products (in fact, we have a big closet off our master bath that Husband has dubbed "the place where good hair and shower products go to die because um…well, it's where good hair and shower products go to die, LOL) it's kind of insane.
Glad to see I'm not alone!
I actually use the Neutrogena acne stress control face wash and love it!! You should give it a shot! Other than that, I usually have 2 separate shampoos, conditionar, Dove soap, body wash, shaving cream, and razor. Not too too bad, huh? Loved this post…always fun to see what people use!
You're not the only one. I don't share a bathroom and probably have around the same amount of products as you. I have like 4 different shampoos alone! Admittedly one of the shampoos is new and I had to get it because I dyed my hair, but yes 4 I guess is too many. And don't get me started on the face washes and scrubs..
Haha don't worry you're not alone ! I am a total shower/bath products junkie !! Same goes for make-up and hair and body products of course.
My bathtub is loaded with products and my bathroom cabinets are filled with new and half used bottles of every kind of shampoo, body moisturizer and hair styling product you can imagine. I work in cosmetics and so does my brother, so I get a TON of stuff (and still manage to buy some more). And no, I rarely wait to finish products, I'm way too impatient.
I don't have a lot in my shower, but I do have two drawers in my guest room dresser filled with half used products like that.
PS – that Neutrogena Cleanser you've never use – DO NOT – I swear it sucked every inch of moisture out of my face when I used it and I looked 10 years older. It was not a good feeling!
Don't feel bad. . . as long as (most of) it goes some love then who cares. If I didn't have to share my bathroom with two boys I would definitely have way more stuff. In my old apartment there was a window ledge that ran the entire length of the bathtub and it was always filled to the brim!
I'd have to say I'm even worse! I have a caddy that's just those little metallic pouch samples. I have such a variety of shampoos and conditioners that I can't even keep them all in the bathroom anymore. My worst offender is body washes and scrubs though. I never know which scent I'll feel for that day until I'm in there, you know? lol! So I need my variety all right there in my face. And! All of this doesn't even include my Lush stuff! Hmmm… I never thought about how much junk I have until this post. Thanks a lot, Veronika! 😉
On another note, I notice the Brilliant Brunette line is absent from your line-up! Tell me you've tried it at least?! I always get compliments and questions about whether or not I've dyed my hair when I use it. It's fabulous for me. 🙂
Mine is 1000x worse and also not that clean or organized. I work at Bath & Body Works AND I love trying out new products. This means that my shower and bathroom are a mess, and no one actually goes in there except for me! My husband uses our other bathroom to avoid all my stuff!
Nothing to be ashamed of! I think it's normal to collect products like that! I know I do! –Meg
first time posting!! i have about the same amount!! funny, my h uses the exact same products as yours!!! 😀
You're not alone!
I have been on a product purge. Using up old products that are 1/2 empty and making better choices when I buy new ones.
My craziest shower confession is that I have a male and female razor. I tried to switch to a venus, but missed the power of a fusion razor.
My DH has been on me to clean out our shower. I can't help that I like to try every single product that's out there! I think you've inspired me to clean out the old bottles and organize a little more!
Anne- justmarriedrealestate.blogspot
If you're embarrassed, I should be down right ashamed! LOL I have wayyy more products than you and I live alone! I just like to have a nice selection when I'm taking a shower. 🙂
I agree with the other posters- it's just so tempting to try out all the new products that are constantly coming out! I have a shower caddy with my stuff in there ( 2 kinds of shampoo and conditioner, regular body wash, exfoliating body wash, body scrub and I keep my razor out of the shower- helps the blade last longer- and to the poster who uses a guy's razor, so do I!! I have for years- Gillette Fusion). I also have a basket under our sink with my lotions, self tanners, hair stylers etc. And then a bag UNDER our bed full of "reject" products that I hold onto, you know, just in case I need to switch it up or try again 🙂 FI calls me a hot mess….
Mine is on the way to looking like yours although I really just have way too much shampoo and that's it. I don't understand why i can't just use one shampoo and conditioner! haha
