Our shopping began at Nordstrom Rack so I could use our $50 Groupon.
I got a dress by Andrew Marc. I think it was originally about $148 and I got it for $49. I really like the way it fits and it’s great for work because it hits just above my knee.
I never wore slips before this year—I needed to buy a nude one this past summer for some of my white dresses. I now feel that they are essential for certain skirts and dresses so I’m glad to own a black one.
Next, we went to OLD NAVY and I returned that gray fairisle print sweater that I bought a few weeks ago. I thought it was very cute but I just never wore it so I felt like it was pointless for it to be sitting in my closet like that.
After those trips we headed to the Galleria mall. Banana Republic was having a 25% off of everything sale so I picked up this adorable skirt. It is SO flattering on. It just sits like no other skirt I own. It’s from their heritage collection. I got a size 6 in this one—the 4 fit but was a bit snug—I would say to size up on this one—but it could just be my hips—if you’re not hippy, stay with your regular size.

Next up, I got another bottle of the Phyto Relaxing Balm at Sephora using my coupon. This is one of my HG hair products!
We also hit up Nordstrom where I returned a MAC blush I bought. It’s called “pink swoon” and it’s apparently the blush Kim Kardashian uses. Honestly, I didn’t love it. I think MAC blushes in general tend not to impress me. The only one I use/like is “Well Dressed.” I just find MAC blushes not to be that pigmented and the colors just seem to not work for me as much. My favorite blush is definitely Bobbi Brown.
I don’t know if I had mentioned this before, but I had to get a new pair of my Jessica Simpson boots because they had a rip in the back after wearing them less than 10 times. Basically the back seam just ripped open. Nordstrom was awesome and gave me a completely new pair. I wore them today to “break them in” again and let me tell you, that may have not been the best idea because my feet were killing me after a couple of hours.
Luckily, I decided to try on the Hunter High Gloss Black Boots while I was at Nordstrom and I ended up loving them so much that I bought them—and wore them out of the store! I am definitely going to bring these to Paris. They are SO comfy. I realized today that I didn’t have any waterproof boots which is not good since it’s so cold and snowy and wet sometimes in Europe. So I took the plunge and got them. It rains a lot in Houston so I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of them.
Lastly, I picked up these Turbie Twist hair towels at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I heard they dry your hair way better than normal towels so I’m excited to try them—maybe it will cut down blow-drying time (I can only hope!)
Love the Hunters! I can't decide if i want to get a pair of those or the Steve madden Intyce cognac boots. I want both! But I am only going to treat myself to one…any thoughts veronika? It does rain quite a bit here so the rain boots are nice…but I've been dying for a pair of Steve maddens!
I've been DYING for the red hunter boots!! No one else seems to understand!!! Good buy!!

I found your blog through Gigi! I love your style!!! The Hunter boots are great~~thanks for the sizing advice. I also wear a 10 and will get a 9. Do the green and purple look good? What about your lovely nude color heels? Those are fab and I'd love to steal them~~~lol.
beautygirl—hmmm that's a tough one. In one sense, the cognac boots are more versatile but if it rains a lot or it's wet out a lot you might wear the hunters more. I personally did not like the way the steve madden intyce boots looked on my feet—but i'm assuming you've tried them on and love them. I would say get the ones you think you will wear more for where you live—for me, i'll most likely wear the cognac boots more often because i bought the hunters more for our trip—but i can also see myself wearing the hunters with cute little dresses too—reese witherspoon wore them that way recently for a movie she's filming and it was so freaking cute—www.justjared.buzznet.com will have the pics of her in them if you search her name 🙂
@kelsey—glad you found my blog! personally the hunters I like best are high gloss black, regular black, dark green and navy. I think those are probably the most versatile but the high gloss black definitely look the sharpest, IMO.
The nude heels are Jessica Simpson—they are pretty comfy and are a great price!
Love the Hunter Boots! I can't justify getting them in Los Angeles though. It never rains out here. But I did try on the cute furry ones they have and I am obsessed.
Did you end up returning the JS boots? I thought they were so pretty! I hate bad quality shoes though!!!
natalia—No i didn't return them I exchanged them for a completely new pair. I hope the new ones will last! It could have just been a bad pair that I got the first time around because they were otherwise comfy once I broke them in 🙂 I even traveled in them when I went to Slovakia.
I buy towels like those turbie twists at the Dollar Tree. They're awesome.
@ashley—do you find they actually help absorb more water our of your hair?
oooh, please let us know how those towels work when you use them! neeeeed something like that for my thick hair. <3 hunters too.
Ah I've been lusting over Hunter boots longer than I can remember! I think I want them for my birthday he he 🙂 I was always wondering if those turbie twists really work! Let us know how you like them! What did I buy today? A lot of less than I planned to since we got snowed in and it's now all icy out, yuck! I did manage to make a quick trip to the market and grabbed a few elf nail polishes, and a Sally Hansen one too 🙂 Enjoy your new stuff! <3
I've had a turbie twist towel for years. It's really held up through all of the use. I don't think it really absorbs much more water than a regular towel. However, I like using it more than a full size bath towel to wrap my hair up. It's not as heavy and bulky on my head.
I did my weekend shopping yesterday. I intended to get a shirt or two and I was still on the hunt for a great pair of cognac boots. Well I ended up with 2 pairs of skinny jeans, 2 pairs of leggings, 1 pair of black boots, 1 pair of grey boots, a brown belt, and 9 tops :S oops! I'll be blogging about my shopping trip tonight or in the morning. I just started it and I'd love for you to check it out!

Oh P.S. I found a great pair of cognac boots online today and I ordered them, I think I *should* be good on boots for awhile!

lisa- i will check out your blog now 🙂 sounds like you had a wicked-good shopping day!
Love the Hunter boots! Those will be very practical.
I have used those Turbie Twist towels for a long time. I don't know that they actually absorb more but they're a great size – not so bulky like having a whole bath towel on top of your head. The only thing I noticed is that after several years, I'd wash them and after using them once, they'd start to smell mildewy, no matter how thoroughly they dried. But that didn't happen for at least 4 years at which point I didn't feel bad about having to replace them! 🙂
My purchases today were a running jacket and 2 pairs of handmade earrings from a friend's jewelry shop, but I came thisclose to buying new running shoes. I still may go back for them tomorrow. They're purple, and it was very hard to leave them!!
Not feeling those hunter boots I'm afraid, they remind me of Wellington Boots back home, but then I'm not into Uggs either, I think I'm just one of those girls who does "get it"!

@jazzy—they are more practical boots—but I think they are cute 🙂 they're not for everyone that's for sure!
Love your weekend purchases! I cannot wait to see the pics from your trip to Paris when you return….the scenery is beautiful I'm sure but I'm so excited to see the outfits put together! 🙂
i just got the shiny hunter boots a few days ago, and just in time for the rain 🙂
i love them, very comfortable, and keep my feet nice and dry!!
Wow, awesome finds V! You will wear those Hunters to death, I know it. Your outfit featuring them looks so good.
Amazing deal on the Andrew Marc dress!
I've had the Turbies since high school (wow 12 years, embarrassed!) and can't live without them! I'm off to buy some designer maternity jeans today. = )
The boots are adorable! Not in my price point, but I can see myself getting some simlar from Target. Good for Ohio winters too 🙂 I want to try that hair balm, I am half African American and my hair is coarse and very dry after washing. Maybe this would help. I use the Aveda smooth infusion straighten balm now and agree with your review on the product. Not something I'll purachse again! Happy Sunday 🙂
Cute new Hunter boots Veronika! I honestly don't even own a single pair of rain boots, but I'd love to get one of those colorful, whimsical pairs with a cute pattern or print on it.
Using the 30% coupon I bought the Intyce boots from Steve Madden in the tan color that I've been eyeing forever! I live in Miami so winter weather for us is 65 degrees. I hope I get to use them in a weekend trip to chicago! They were reduced from 199.99 to 129.99 then I used the online 30% off promo and they came out to 97.00 including taxes. I definitely think you should sign up for the steve madden alerts. They have much better deals online than in store.
Xoxo Cristy 🙂

Veronika, have you ever been to chicago? Would it be totally ridiculous for me to plan a weekend trip to chicaho when my boyfriend has never even seen snow? Do you think its too cold? The W has an awesome special on travel zoo for $109.00 a night. I know this is off topic, but we're talkin' boots lol
YESSS to Hunter Boots!!! I have the same pair– check these out, they're made specifically for the boots and it's a good way to mix up your look, too.

I have the leopard!
I have had my eye on Hunter Boots FOREVER and after a snow filled weekend in Chicago, I think I'm taking the plunge! I need boots I can trample through the snow in and then wear into a restaurant and still look pulled together. I'm hopefully going to grab them this week as an early Christmas present to myself. Also, they make tons of cute fuzzy warm liners for them if you want extra warmth in Paris.
I used my groupon this weekend, too! I scored the BEST thing: a $500 nanette lepore jacket for like $150!! I was pretty dern pleased. 🙂
christy—I went to chicago when I was 12 or so years old. I thought it was great! I don't know what the weather is like there in the winter but that wouldn't deter me from going 🙂 I say if you can get a good deal go for it!
you're going to love the twisty turban. I use one daily and I have super fine hair but lots of it! it cuts down on drying time. Wouldn't live without it, now!
and I live in Chicago and SWEAR by my hunters. I have the mid-calf fit, not the tall ones. I swear by them. We got tons of snow this weekend and I don't know what I'd do without them! And check out the liners, they're fuzzy and warm! Beats thick socks anyday!
Oops meant to post here about the warmers for the Hunters. Yes I agree with ^^…they're great!
Loveeeeeee the Hunters! They look darling with your shopping outfit that day! So cute!

You look awesome in those wellies, plus I think you might have the nicest hair in the world. It's stunning!
Huge congratulations on reaching 1000 followers!

@beauty bite–aww thank you, you are so sweet!
I got 2 things at Loft this weekend including the metallic croc skirt, which I blogged about in this post. I visited Sephora to look around and see what to buy w/my $20 VIB card. Surely you got one…?
I like the Spanx slip. Very pretty.
@gigi— i did get my Sephora card and got the phyto hair balm and also a gift for secret santa at work 🙂
Fabulous purchases! You did sooo well!
Good news about the JS boots – GREAT customer service!!
Looooove the skirt, can't wait to see it on.

too bad pink swoon didn't work for you, i love it! i wear it nearly everyday.
LOVE the Hunters! they've been on my wish list for a while. they'll be perfect for your trip!
How did you decide between the glossy vs. the matte? I want to buy a pair for myself in black but I can't decide between the two. Thanks!
