Nordstrom is having their half yearly sale this weekend so I plan to check out the offerings there as well.
In addition to returning the CR boots I think I’m also returning the sweater I bought at Nordstrom Rack. I’ve tried to wear it this week and I’m just not in love with it when I try it on again so back it goes. I’m glad I keep my receipts because I always keep tags on everything until I wear it “just in case.” Sometimes I get on a roll when I’m shopping and I love something in the store and then I just get home and can’t make it work or don’t feel as in love with it. That’s OK, that’s what return policies are for.
Onto another topic…yesterday my workout partner recommended that I try “My Fit Foods.” It’s a company that has stores featuring prepared meals that are all perfectly portioned, healthy and made with fresh ingredients. It’s basically the perfect solution for people who are really busy or don’t want to cook because all you have to do is heat up the meal and it’s ready to go (they are NOT frozen though). Every single meal has calorie and other nutritional information on the label so you know exactly what you’re getting. It’s a little expensive, but it’s nice to have once in awhile when you’re crunched on time or don’t feel like getting groceries.
I had someone at My Fit Foods help me pick out a few meals and I was shocked when he gave me these tiny containers for lunch and dinner meals. I said they were too small and he said unless you’re very active, you don’t need to eat more than that.
I was totally in denial…but sure enough, I got home, heated up the chili and after eating it, I was satisfied, even after a tough workout.
I think if anything, this experience allowed me to see what kind of portions I should be eating and it proved to me that even though it doesn’t look like a lot of food, it still fills me up incredibly. I hate to admit this, but sometimes I eat until I’m so full it hurts a bit. I also eat really quickly which is so horrible for me, I know. One of my goals is to learn to eat more slowly and to listen to my body when I feel full and just stop eating.
Have you ever tried a food service like My Fit Foods? Let me know in the comments below!

Veronika.
That is crazy! I will have to try that one day. it does look like a small amount. I have to admit also- I do tend to stuff myself, bad me!
Do you plan on getting more of the portioned food? I am a very picky eater so not sure if they would have things I like
jennifer- I can see myself getting these meals once in awhile just to get an idea of how much i should eat and it will also give me good ideas for when I need to make meals on my own 🙂 I think they have about 46 items on the menu.
Veronika, I am the exact, same way! I too keep receipts on all of the clothing I purchase, until I wear them. I cannot tell you how many times I pull something out of my closet and wondered why i purchased it! lol.
That chili looks amnazing by the way! 😉

I will have to try this! I know nothing about portion control. Like you, I eat faster than I should and until I feel really full. I'm really on a mission to eat healthier. I will check this company out.
I have not; a new one just opened in The Woodlands on 45 but I haven't been in yet. I quite enjoy grocery shopping and cooking though, and generally make healthy things, and know what a portion size should look like thanks to Weight Watchers. I can see how it would be helpful if I got off track though.
I've thought of stopping in for lunch but I don't know how it compares with Central Market's Cafe on the Run, which is my go-to when I'm pressed for time (Black Walnut and Cafe Express are my next two).
I love My Fit Foods. I thought the same thing at first — this isn't going to be enough, but it really is. Their chili is my favorite, but the turkey spaghetti is also great. They also have a grilled chicken with green beans and sweet potatoes, which is simple but super good!
I also eat 'til it hurts sometimes, especially when my blood sugar is low! ;-( Need to work on that.
I've never tried anything like that- Usually I just portion out my meals myself- which IS quite a pain in the butt! ;-/ Especially when all I want to do is NOTHING after work. lol.
To me they look like GOOD portions- lol. At least compared to my daily meal menu…Usually its just fish, brown rice and some broccoli for me. Not big at all. I think I'd definitely try this if it were anywhere near me.
Try Snap Kitchen, IMO, it is ten times better than My Fit Foods. I did a month of meals on their program and was completely dissatisfied.
I actually tried Snap Kitchen this week! I went to check out my fit foods but i thought Snap Kitchen had better food options for me so I went with them. They are also all organic and get all their food local wich is good. I was surprised at how good it was! I like having these as an option becuase I dont always feel like cooking and making a mess just for two.
I went to nordstroms today around 2 and it was packed with lots of shoppers, it was crazy!

I was wondering about this place!! These meals look pretty good though so I might give it a try!

Very interesting! I've always wanted to have a place like this deliver to me. I know my problem is portion sizes, but sometimes it just tastes so good I don't want to stop! This is such a nice option, because there is literally no more food available for you to eat–no going back for more. This is how celebs stay so thin, right? 🙂
So great you shared this with us, another wonderful post!!
I have heard of that company back when I lived in Chicago. Now that I'm about 1.5 hours just outside the city, I doubt there's one around me, but maybe I could try buying small portion-sized containers and making healthy size-appropriate foods that way. Thanks for the tip!
WOW!! I wish we had something like that here…that chili looks delicious! Sadly, we have nothing remotely like that.
BTW, I was in Marshall's last night and they had a TON of cognac boots! I was thinking about you when I was looking at all of them…seriously two aisles worth and all $99 and under. Unfortunately, none in my gigantic size! 🙁
I have a lot of co-worker's who do Seattle Sutton's, but I haven't tried it since the plans are pretty expensive.
I've never tried anything like this, but now I want to! I'm a VERY fast eater, which often allows me to eat more than I should. it actually takes your brain 20 minutes to receive the signal letting it know that you're full. this means that if you eat fast, you're screwed, because you don't know you're full until you're actually STUFFED.
thanks for sharing this… I'm going to search and see if there are any options like this in my area.
I would die of starvation lol.. i literally eat something 3x that as a snack!! hehe
@tali- my trainer told me that it's actually not a full meal if you work out…plus I would never just eat that, I eat a lot of snacks. I eat every 3 hours 🙂
