I started my morning off right by watching some DVR’d shows all about Prince William and Kate Middleton. Can I just say how much I adore her? I mean, her hats, her gorgeous blown-out hair, her pretty smile. Sigh. She will be a gorgeous princess. I’ll admit that I’m more than a little obsessed with her various hair adornments and hats:
No stranger to hair accessories myself, I must say they really do make an outfit more unique. I once wore a back feather flower in my hair with a little of that black netting on it (from Forever 21) to a club for a friend’s birthday and it was a conversation piece all night—guys and girls would stop me and be like I LOVE that thing in your hair! (even if they didn’t quite know what it was.) I was shocked at the response because usually I think people think big hair accessories like that are weird…but I’m not one to care what others think so I just rock them with pride! Here are a few of my hair accessories in action:
Do YOU ever wear feathery or floral hair accessories? If you do, do you find that people approach you about it or do you get strange looks?
Then we ventured off to Academy where I bought some resistance bands to use with my Pilates workout DVD’s. I also picked up this pair of Nike Eclipse shoes I’ve had my eye on. I just love the color combo! I’m going to wear them for light workouts and I’ll also bring them to Paris for walking if I ever need a day off from my boots.
I really like them. They are sleeker than typical running shoes so they’re a good “casual” shoe choice. They retail for $65.00 at most places but at Academy they were competitively priced at $59.99, so I saved a few bucks. Amazon also has them for $59.99
Did you do any shopping today? I was tempted to go to the Galleria but I somehow talked myself out of it. I really should be saving for the trip because I’m sure I’ll want to shop there.
xoxo,
Veronika.
PS- I took a few shots of Lulu with the new camera—and BIG difference. The quality is incredible.
I love, love, love hats and floral/feather hair fascinators! I have a few vintage hats, a few fascinators I made and a few my mom bought for me in England!
I usually get compliments when I wear mine, though I don't wear them regularly. If hats come back into style (like they were in the '20s-'50s), I'll be the first one on that trend. My other obsession is gloves – nice gloves. I'm going to post an amazing pair on my blog in a few days!!
You've got some great hair accessories yourself! Love this post. 😉
Nice nikes. I do mostly cardio and some weights. I wonder if they are good all around gym shoes? Have a great day V 🙂
I can't wait for their wedding =)
@mary-ann—we need to start a movement and bring awesome, feathery hats to America! Hopefully Kate's style will inspire the trends here 🙂
Sheila- I'll let you know how they are at the gym when I wear them for a workout 🙂
I love Kate's style! She always looks so elegant and polished. I especially love that blue long sleeved dress she wore when they announced their engagement…stunning!
Kate is just lovely. I think I read somewhere that's she a fashion major (?) so I'm not surprised that she's becoming a trend setter.
I wish I could pull off fun hair accessories but I think I look rather silly with them. They look great on you but me, not so much.
I love Kate. I think she's gorgeous and has such great style – and her head/hair accesories are always great. I cannot wait to see her wedding dress.
I love your headbands. They are so cute. I'm just now kind of getting into a headband phase -or even just an "actually do something with my hair" phase – but my hair is so thick I have a hard time finding anything that will stay put.
@kayla– if headbands don't work you could try clip-in hair adornments or you could wear an elastic headband but then clip a cute flower or brooch to it 🙂
I adore Kate's style. I think she'll make a fabulous and very classy princess. Can't wait to see wedding photos!
I love your headdresses…makes me want to incorporate more headbands into my own wardrobe. Particularly adore the feathers!
I think Kate should envy you for your gorgeous hair and blow-outs. xo
I love feathered/flower headpieces, I just never get to wear them because I feel like I need to be really dressed up in order for them to look right on me. I had a fascinator similar to yours in my hair for my wedding, but haven't worn anything like it since. I would love to, I just don't have enough opportunities to wear them!
I really like the sneakers. I'm not one for bulky running shoes, either, and I feel that the sleeker ones are much more versatile. I like that running shoes are so stylish and colorful now and would probably wear sneakers more often if I could find a pair that I really really liked 🙂
I am on the lookout for new running sneakers and those look perfect!
chic geek— these are definitely not made for running- they are more walking/casual shoes and shoes you could wear to the gym for light cardio (like on an elliptical) and weight training. I would not recommend these for running because they don't have that kind of support and structure 🙂 I have another pair of NIKES that I do use for heavier activities like running—they are these ones:

I love hats and feathers! Probably why I'm so fascinated by Kat-*ahem*…I mean CATHERINE Middleton. She is too cute! I giggled a little when I saw the pink tennis balls. My two girls (dogs) love tennis balls and I always buy the pink haha.
those shoes are soo cute Veronika! i'm envious you and your hubs play tennis together! i've always wanted to learn, and ironically enough, i won a signed tennis racket from a famous tennis player while i was at BlogHer.
the photos of Kate are so classy, i feel like she's the only one who can effortlessly pull off such crazy head pieces! (although, i love the one of you wearing the tiara haha!)
Actually, those are not 'workout' shoes. They are not made for running or training. They are from 'sportswear' category, so they are just shoes for everyday type use. Made to look like vintage Nikes, but they do not feature any technical aspects (ie…lateral support, foot control, dynamic support etc) that would make them good for working out.
They're cute…but not meant for the gym.
HTH
Jackie— thanks for the input. I think they are considered walking/casual shoes (like to wear to run errands and stuff) but I think if you are just going to go on the elliptical and do some mat work or light weights, then they are OK.
There is a trend now where people are wearing those running shoes that basically make your feet as though you are running bare foot because there are studies that suggest it's better for the body.
Veronika
Yes, that is a very popular trend! If you are interested, check out the Nike Free. (In fact, Oprah picked them as her favs recently) They are made specifically for that purpose, to emulate running barefoot. Though you would be sore after the first couple uses, over time they will strengthen the muscles in your feet, ankle, & calves. Some people really find they are more comfortable and others with certain foot issues will need a shoe with more stability.
There also is a Nike Free Trainer made for a more wide range of training (weights, short distances, cardio classes etc). Those offer more lateral support than the runners, but are still meant to help you strengthen the muscles of your legs.
🙂
