Before I get into this rant, I must say that I LOVE most Redken products, this one just wasn’t for me. It literally had no “PROS” aside from the fact that it does smell nice.
This product is made for “baby fine” hair…I do have fine hair but I have a lot of it, so maybe it’s just not meant for my hair type. It makes hair feel stiff and sticky and the results of my blowout were not as good because it sort of prevents your hair from getting that “bounce” most women covet (at least for me that was the case.)
When I use Redken GUTS 10 Volume Spray Foam, it’s a whole new story. That product is an HG for me and gives a ton of volume without the undesired stiffness and stickiness. You might experience a tiny bit of stickyness when you’re first drying your hair, but it goes away as you dry your hair and hair is still soft and bouncy. I also love Redken’s Full Frame Mousse
.
I will be retuning this to Ulta ASAP. It retails for $16.99. My advice: stick with the GUTS 10 foam.
On another note, one of my lovely readers asked me to take a picture of my CR boots ON. I was somewhat horrified when I put them on after work today because they um…kind of hurt. Like immediately as I put them on. That concerns me since they are supposed to be my main walking shoe in Paris. So I’m going to try them on again at different times and see how they feel. If they continue to hurt that’s definitely going to be an issue and I’ll have to (sadly) return them. I hate that because I thought my search was finally over. I hate that I have to look for the seemingly impossible perfect cognac boot again (and if I get new ones they will probably cost a heck of a lot more. ugh.)
Ok, here they are:
Thank you for reading. I have my trainer tonight so I’m looking forward to a nice tough workout!
xoxo,
Hi V! Sad to say, but I think the chances of boots/shoes from Charlotte Russe being comfortable are slim.
Endless is having a 25% off sale right now (deets in Chloe's blog) so maybe you can score something there.
I know these aren't cognac colored, but I have these in black and they are very, very comfortable. I like the gray color too.

have you tried old navy? surprisingly, they have cute boots!

Hello Dearie…
I have the Nicole Buster boots in Copper, which is akin to the cognac shade you're looking for. I can attest to their comfort AND versatility. You can wear them pulled all the way up slightly over the knee (and YES, they STAY up!), folded over pirate style, or slouched down a bit. I love, love, love them. The Nicole brand in general is just awesomeness as far as style that doesn't compromise comfort goes. Enjoy!

How about these? They have a little bit of a heel but they seem super cute:

Hi! sorry about the bad hair product. I do not try hair products very often due to when I was younger I felt like they were too oily and what not, I hate feeling product in my hair.
I have been on a boot hunt too! I have found some great boots! I actually went and tried on the JS boots, and they are great. I think I will be getting them for a Christmas gift 🙂 But I found a pair of cognac boots from Charming Charlies ( I know- I was suprised too ) and they are similar to the JS boots color. I have not put them up on my blog yet but I just took a picture of them, so I am going to be emailing a picture of them to you. They do have a little heel, but I wore them all saturday night and they are very comfortable IMP
Emailing you now 🙂
Chinese Laundry has some cognac flat boots for around $100. I also saw a pair on Amazon..try googling Blossom Amar-4 A Cognac Women Boot, for only $33. Hope you find a pair soon 🙂
i would recommend aldo. i got these: https://www.aldoshoes.com/ca-eng/women/boots/boots-100-under/80257788-laakso/28 at the galleris and although they have a heel they are ridiculously comfortable. i also tried on these: https://www.aldoshoes.com/ca-eng/women/boots/knee-high-boots/80435089-goldsmith/28 and loved them too but since my parents were buying i didnt want to take advantage =) you can check on the first pair on me (the color is a bit lighter) in my blog.

Hopefully you find the right pair of boots! And please share because I'm also on the look out for boots like those!
Btw, your body looks hot! 🙂
I was in Paris in May and TRUST me…wear comfy shoes! I chose the fashion over function route and had to buy two boxes of band-aids in 5 days. Seriously, it was horrible!! I too am in LOVE with the cognac color boots as well. I recently purchased these by Corso Cosmo:
https://www.zappos.com/corso-como-raquel-lug-whiskey
They are a little more casual/classic and come in right at $200. I love that they jut out a little bit at the top (makes it look like they aren't so snug on the legs). I kind of wish they didn't have as much room in the ankle area, but overall they are beautiful (and comfy!).
Hope that helps – have fun in Paris!
I'm not sure if you'd like these, but they are a nice milk chocolate color and are on sale for $150. I'm posted about getting them, but need to make a trip to the mall to try them on first.

Steve Maddens in Cognac and they are pretty comfy and I get a ton of compliments on them. Good luck!
Aww, those boots are super cute… it stinks that they hurt! You may want to try gel inserts first to see if that helps at all. Here are some cute cognac options on Piperlime. Also, if you sign up for their emails, you get 15% off, so that could help!

Hi Veronika!
I've always been a lurker, but have been in your position trying to find boots before, and found that I love shopstyle.com! I entered in Cognac boots and kept the price to under $150 and here's what I found!
https://www.shopstyle.com/browse/boots?fl=p10&fl=p7&fl=p8&fl=p9&fts=cognac+boots#0_0
Hope this helps!
those boots look adorable on!! Have you thought of buying insoles for them, or wearing a thicker sock with them? That could help with the discomfort. I would at least try insoles first, those can make a huge difference!
too bad about the Redken product, I love most of their things!
Check these out from Zappos, they are the Newbie by Chinese Laundry. https://zapp.me/7579458
Good luck on your search(again)! I'm a size 10 as well and know how hard it is to find boots that look cute on larger feet.
Have you tried Steve Madden Candance? I just did a quick search on Endless and they look similar to those from Charlotte Russe?
https://www.stevemadden.com/item.aspx?id=50077
Sorry about the pain—but it's definitely worth returning. I walked Paris in tennis shoes and still had killer foot pain. It's amazing how much you walk on vacation. 🙂
https://www.amazon.com/Chinese-Laundry-Womens-Newbie-Boot/dp/B002BU46SO/ref=pd_sbs_shoe_1
I bought these a few weeks ago in the cognac color and I love them! They are super comfortable, I wear them all the time. They are a little on the thin side though, so you would probably have to pair them with some warm socks.
Not to rain on your parade as well but years ago I bought a pair of high heeled boots from CR and the first time I wore them (shopping at the mall) they hurt so bad they made my feet bleed and I had to buy a pair of flip flops and throw the boots away. I am hoping for your sake that they have improved the quality of their footwear. Good luck with your trainer, I had a nice tough workout tonight as well and it felt great!
I love those boots. I really hope you don't have to end up returning them, they look so great.
By the way, the Chinese Laundry Newbie boots that people have been posting are on sale at Macy's right now for $53 right now!
@kinsey- I can't wear thicker socks because they are already tight and hurt my toes 🙁 i'm so sad!
@anon- thanks so much for the tip 🙂
ps- everyone- I am so overwhelmed and grateful for all of your comments and suggestions! thank you!

those cole hann ones are cute!
@amber (texas tales)- good call on ON! I will check it out this weekend!
@kristin- thanks those are actually really cute!
@whitney- I LOVE those JS boots! thanks so much for showing them to me…those may be a top contender at this point!
@lacey- I have tried endless but haven't found anything I love yet
@anon- thanks for the link, I checked it out 🙂
@mere- i actually saw those in store and for some reason the scrunching bothered me. I'm so picky! thanks for posting 🙂
@anon- i like the look of those boots but a lot of the reviews say they didn't fit well…sounds like you disagree though!
I wish the Fauna riding boots from BR were still available! I got a pair in September and can not say enough good things about them although they aren't as rich of a color as what I think you want. My sister bought a pair from Old Navy recently and really likes them! I posted a pic of her in them on my blog yesterday- she's 6' so you could get a good idea since you're a tall girl too!
hmmm…what about these ladies?

miavitabella- I LOVE those! bookmarking NOW! they are a bit darker but the color is pretty 🙂 thank you!
eeekkk! they are not avail in my size (the madden girl ones…) will look on amazon
Hey girl! I just bought some cognac boots at Kohls for 40 bucks!! I am a teacher and wear them from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm and my feet feel fine :)I am on my phone but go to http://www.kohls.com and type in APT. 9 Ryker boot! Hope those help
@anon- those are cute (and cheap!) thanks for the tip 🙂
First try and buy some of those Dr. S's gel inserts. If those don't help then you've got some good recs in your comments.
I've never been to Paris but I went to Vegas and wore 5 inch heels, my feet killed after an hour, I bought some inserts and it was like walking on air. I loved it. Good luck.
manda- sadly, the boots will not fit if i add inserts 🙁 they already feel so tight 🙁
I agree with the other posters, go for comfort. I wore cute flats for ONE day in Paris and had so many blisters the next day! I could only wear my new balance shoes the rest of the trip since my feet hurt so badly.
I know that you won't listen because of your fashionista ego but I hope you take it in to consideration. With the weather in Paris in December cute shoes will get ruined and so will your feet!
@anon- I actually am considering wearing UGGS and running shoes at this point because I just want to be comfortable. I would rather look less cute but have feet and legs that aren't in pain 🙂
I love the apt .9 ryker boot! so cute
Make sure whatever you get is water resistant. If it rains/snows, your feet will be quite cold.
Have you thought about buying some Hunter boots and getting the insulated insoles? They are cute, waterproof and under $200.
https://usa.hunter-boot.com/2/Product-Search/Product-Search.aspx?col=22
@anon- my H suggested Hunter boots but someone told me that they were really heavy and also that they made your feet wet on the inside or something…? do you own them? thoughts?
I ADORE Vince Camuto boots. I have a black pair that people always stop and ask me about. I love them and can wear them for hours on end. I got mine at Nordstrom, but you can check out their site for some of their looks. I know good boots are expensive, but if you want them to last and be comfortable, I think its worth it. (And their flats are right at/slightly under your $200 limit.) I wore my Vince Camuto boots all over London and had no problem at all. Give them a look if you have a sec, I love mine!
https://www.vincecamuto.com/Shoes/Boots/
kohls has some steven madden intyce look a likes by apt 9. good luck! can't wait to see what you find.
The Walking Company isn't known for fashionable shoes, but it's a great source for travel wear. Check these out (a little over $200):
https://www.thewalkingcompany.com/ecco-rise-brown/10727
As a brand, Cole Haan is fantastic as well. If you have an outlet nearby, you can find great deals.
Uncomfortable shoes can ruin your vacation – trust me! Cole Haan is my go-to shoe for walking – it was the only brand I wore when I vacationed in Dubai earlier this year. Good luck!
I apologize if this sounds snobby, but it's truly how I feel – don't cheap out on shoes when it comes to an event like an European trip. Your feet will thank you.
I have the Chinese Laundry "newbie." I have them in black but they also come in cognac, and I LOVE them. So comfortable. I also have a cognac Chinese Laundry OTK boot called "Nitro" and they are super comfortable as well, and a little more plain like your CRs. I would recommend them both 🙂
What about these Chinese Laundry boots: https://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=488389&BannerID=PD221&PartnerID=LINKSHARE&LinkshareID=neQRQBqOKtQ-LVfmmyUr9VKn2VOJ.4vJQw
I got the cutest most comfortable cognac (very slight wedge) boots at Kohl's. Every single time I wear them someone compliments me on how expensive they look. They were $55 and I used a 30% off coupon. Now they're on sale for $39.99

Just got these cognac boots last week. Flat and amazingly comfy!
Hunter boots are actually a really good idea. They are waterproof so no, they don't make your feet wet. You can wear them in the rain or buy the insert socks and wear them for cold weather too. They actually provide a good amount of support and are very comfortable. I live in Boston and have worn them for 8+ hours a day and they've never given me a problem.
Bloomingdale's F&F is coming up next week, maybe you can score a pair.
I agree with Texas Tales! I bought these boots last year and love them!

I know you said no to the Steve Madden "Intyce" boots but have you looked at the SM "Buck" boots? I bought them last fall and absolutely love them! They are incredibly comfortable, they are my go to boot when I don't want to wear Uggs.

They are available online only… On the plus side you can use those great coupons they issue.
@anon- those ae super cute! It's hard for me to buy online because my feet are hard to fit sometimes 🙁 I wish they had them in store…I am going to try to shop again this weekend for boots.
I bought the Indigo by Clarks Proctor style in Medium Brown (which is close to the color you are looking for) I wore them in Europe just recently and they were very comfortable. https://www.zappos.com/indigo-by-clarks-proctor-medium-brown
Check these out

love your blog
I would check out Nine West. I know I found a really cute black flat pair of boots there last winter and they had cognac brown ones I wanted but couldn't get both colors at once. I just recently saw the same boot in the stores so I would check out their website. Very comfortable and I think they're cute (I wear a size 10 too)
Hey!
I actually work at DSW and I bought these, Chinese Laundry Niche, in black and they are super comfy. They didn't need any breaking in at all. I know they only have small sizes online but I suggest calling your local DSW to find your size. Just give them the UPC on the web page. They may have them in stock and may even be marked down. We have these for 30% off right now in my store, so they're like $56 or so. They're real leather too.
https://www.dsw.com/shoe/chinese+laundry+niche+boot?prodId=207628&brand=300080
I find Nine West shoes to be comfortable most of the time and saw these online for 30% off! Hopefully they have them in the store so you can try them on and see if you like them!
https://www.ninewest.com/Tierney/5541094,default,pd.html?cgid=2938081&itemNum=10&variantSizeClass=&variantColor=BOMBNLE
My local Bergners (aka Carson Perie Scott or Younkers depending on where you live) has knee-high flat leather boots in a tan (pretty close to the cognac color) and black for around $80. I bought the black and love them….they're as comfortable as my Uggs, no kidding. Plus the leather is really soft and nice. I have never heard of the brand before, but I'll check what it is and comment with the name when I get home.
On another note…was it your blog that suggested Benefit eye bright somewhere? Anyway, I was able to find it from a top-rated seller on ebay for $8…steal! Looking forward to giving it a try.
rachael- yes it was me! I am obsessed with benefit eye bright 🙂
These Express boots have a wedge heel but it's super small
