Allow me to elaborate. Basically, my forehead has this weird texture to it. It looks kind of bumpy (but not pimples) and the skin gets very flaky and peels off a lot. I tried to just exfoliate and moisturize and use Tazorac on it, but nothing has worked as well as these peel pads.
The skin there got so bad that when I wore makeup, you could literally see the peeling skin on my forehead. It was so frustrating. My dermatologist mentioned I might benefit from an alpha hydroxy based face wash to exfoliate my skin.
I only use HALF of one pad every night (I cut them in half). I don’t feel that you need an entire pad for your face. After cleansing, I pat my face dry and apply this all over. It’s almost like a toner. You might notice your face will feel a little bit sticky as the product is drying but I don’t mind that at all because I apply it right before bed. You can also layer other night products on once the peel is dry.
I have noticed that my pores are smaller as well, which is wonderful.
I just wanted to share this with you ladies because I love to rave about an incredible product when I discover one. For those of you who are Sephora VIB’s, they are mailing out 20% off coupons again to be used between November 11-15. I’m probably going to pick up a few more things including:
Tarte Natural Lip Stain with LipSurgence™ Technology in the color “charmed” (light pink)
Ole Henriksen Ultimate Eye Lift Gel (I’ve been using a sample of this now at bedtime for about 2 weeks and it is absolutely amazing!!!)
Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash (I’ve heard such incredible things about this mascara lately)
Do you plan to buy anything else at Sephora with your 20% off coupon? It’s a great idea to use your discount to stock up on Christmas gifts too!
xoxo,
Veronika.
I just tried a sample of Boscia's Black Mask last night and I loved it! (but be forewarned, it can pull out a little peach fuzz!)
Thanks for your review on the mini peel pads!
I need to try this! I've heard other great reviews on it and my skin is pretty temperamental so why not? Thanks for your review 😉
oh good to know! I will def be trying these and thanks for the tip on cutting them in half! xo
Thank you so much for your review. I, too, have small bumps all along my forehead (I actually used to use Proactive for years which made them decrease but stopped when I got pregnant) so this sounds like a perfect product for me. And cutting them in half is just genius.
@sally- I think you will love this product! My skin really does look better.
Thanks for the review, I bought this last week but haven't tried it yet. How do you like the Stila Custom Color Blush that you mentioned is a previous post?
zirla- I really like the stila custom color blush 🙂 it's a pretty pink color and goes on nice and sheer. I still love my bobbi brown blush in peony the best, but the stila one is great too.
Ok – I'm definitely going to give this a try!!! I've recently noticed my skin lacking smoothness and your post is so perfectly timed! Thanks for the tip!! Hope you're having a great weekend! xoxo
Have you ever tried Philosophy's Oxygen Peel? I was at Bloomingdales and they had a Philosophy makeover day going on and they gave me a facial with the Oxygen kit and it was so wonderful, my skin was so clear and bright afterword I love that kit!
thank u so much for sharing with us this product rave! coz ive been having the very same problem with my forehead and the sides along my nose, knowing that i have combination skin. an it's sooo frustrating. am going to get this one asap.xoxo
ooohhh…I might have to try those! Thank you!
@jen- I haven't tried the oxygen peel- thanks for the tip! does Sephora sell it as well?
illy- i think you will love this product! It really helps eliminate all of that flaking and unevenness.
Thanks for sharing! My skin gets dry on my forehead too, especially in the winter, so I may just have to try this one.
Aww, now I'm sad that F&F is over! I'll have to check them out the next time I'm at Sephora! 🙂
ohhhhh i want to try this too! however i work in africa and paris is my "home" base and i don't see this on the sephora.fr website- are there any girls reading this who live in france and know if the philosophy products in the sephora store will be different than those online? Or any other similar product suggestions? thanks!
Thanks for the great recs! I am always up for a skin-improving product! Great to know you can cut them in half as well.
I'm interested in this eye gel now too!
Maybe I'll have to try this next. I'm extremely frustrated with my skin lately…the hubs and I are off birth control in hopes of trying for a family and at first, I had perfect skin – literally – and now 3 months later its a disaster area. I already ordered and have been using the other products you had recommended, and I think my skin needs more…something….grrrr. Skin issues make me depressed. And my derm cant get me in until the 30th!!! 🙁 Thanks for the rec tho…like I said, maybe I'll order this one too. Something has to work eventually!!! right? 😛
rachael— that is seriously one of my biggest fears because my acne is definitely controlled by my birth control pill. Hormones are really something that can't be controlled unfortunately without medication—the good news is, I saw my derm recently and he said if you do great on the pill, skin-wise, then your skin should look good when you're pregnant too! good luck TTC…we are going to try sometime next year, I hope!
Thank you 🙂 I really hope I have good skin if I ever get pregnant – my sis-in-law tells nightmare stories of what pregnancy hormones did to her skin that terrify me. Like you said…it totally sucks that hormones are to blame! I thought when I first went off I'd hit jackpot…my skin was the best its ever been since I was like 5 for a few months…then it destroyed itself (exaggeration…but I'm extremely picky about skin things).
Did anything ever help you pre-pill with your skin? I have no idea since I've been on the pill since I was 14 :/ My skin sans-pill is totally foreign to me, and I've heard things like retin-a and of course tazorac are dangerous if you're TTC. 😛 Booooo for problem skin.
@rachael– I actually had good skin as a teen. I didn't start taking the pill until I was 18 and I was on and off of it (mostly on) throughout college. I got horrible cystic acne when I was about…20-23. It was awful…the pimples were so huge and painful and hard to cover…I didn't want to leave my house some days.
I am really worried about that. I plan to consult with my dermatologist when I get off the pill so I can understand what to do when I'm off of it.
My biggest thing now is being preventative. I still use the la roche posay targeted breakout corrector on any areas I think are breakout prone every night (usually on my chin area.) My acne used to be most prominent on my chin so now I'm very proactive about that area. My skin has been the best it's ever been these last few years so I'm definitely scared too! I would consult your derm…are you getting just regular pimples or cystic acne?
Thanks for the review! My skin has been horrible lately. I really need to find a dermatologist so that I can get things under control. I have tried just about everything and when I do try something new, I often suffer from some kind of reaction 🙁
I actually never had acne until now, as well (I took the pill because I have severe endometriosis) so this bad skin thing is fairly new to me. I've always had sensitive breakout-prone skin and had to be preventative, even with BC, but it was very mild/moderate normal acne at worst. I'm getting a mix now for the last 2-3 weeks, but the worst part is that while i can clear an area up, the skin isnt healing – its remaining pinkish/blue in the area long after its cleared. I am desperate for my derm. My skin looked so great at first that I (foolishly) canceled my last apt with him and didn't ask about what to do…I thought I had made it to my 20s and now had great skin sans-BC. Darn-it for being wrong. 😛 I see my derm in 2 weeks. *sigh*
I have the la roche posay & it does really seem to help. At least it will hopefully get me through the next 2 weeks!
To all those with skin problems, consider removing cheese from your diet. It can be very tough to do, but I know hands down this is what has provided consistently clear skin for me. This is for someone who got those awful cyst bumps that have to be helped by the derm and no over-the-counter elixir will do.
Thanks, Veronika for the review. I got these yesterday during the VIB and tried one last nite. I have the same thing with small bumps on my forehead. It's like a texture issue, not acne. They're very small but now that the rest of my skin is so clear, I want them gone. Hoping these do the trick. 🙂
gigi- they have TREMENDOSLY improved the look of my skin on my entire face. My forhead problem is nearly gone! I am thrilled 🙂
