On Sunday, I went a little cleaning and organizing crazy. I always have these moments where I think everything is too cluttered and messy and I find a new solution to make everything feel calm and organized again. You may remember that several months ago I bought clear mini storage drawers to store my makeup on my bathroom counter. This worked well for me but I noticed that they took up a lot of room and also that water would gather underneath the plastic (from washing my face and hands) and then granite would get all dark. I decided it was time to downsize and keep everything a little more hidden.
I made use of the drawers in my bathroom counter and decided to store my products there so it would be out of sight and easily accessible. I used the boxes our Vera Wang cutlery came in as drawer dividers (I like to get creative!)
mascaras on the ledge.
I must say I really enjoy this new setup. Everything is easy to access and when I’m done using products I can slip them right back into the drawers and they are hidden away.
I hope to have larger/longer counter tops in our next home.
How do you organize your makeup? Do you ever get tired of the way you organize things and change them?
Here are my Monday and Tuesday outfits:
Belt- Tory Burch
Shoes- Jessica Simpson
xoxo,
Veronika.
Obsessed with that Tory Burch Belt! I love every outfit you put it together with!
I love the way your organized as well. My boyfriend is a clutter maniac and likes everything tucked away! But i'd love to have my brushes on display like you have them to the side.
xoxo! Natalia
I tend to get obsessive about organizing as well. I just love the feeling of having everything in its place! Your outfits look great, as usual. By the way, I received the package you sent today. THANK YOU so much. Can't wait to hit up Sephora 🙂
jessica- so glad you got the package! yay! 🙂
Great way to make use of the cutlery boxes to organize everything! I hate clutter as well and go on a cleaning spree every once in a while. I am convinced that I need those nude Jessica Simpson heels or something similar very soon. I am in love with neutrals nowadays.

wow you are super organized with your makeup. i just throw everything into a bag! lol. also, i love the green/black outfit. i actually wore the same color palette today! 🙂

love, love, love the charlotte russe dress! hope you feel better – if your right lower abdomen pain doesn't get better, see your doctor – appendicitis often begins with this symptom! hopefully it's nothing and you're feeling better soon 🙂
shannon- thanks so much for the advice 🙂 the weird thing is that it's a very dull pain. Nothing major but it's just…uncomfortable. It started this morning when I woke up. 🙁
I hope it's nothing serious, feel better soon! Love the way you organized, I'm trying to come up with a better technique but it's so difficult since I don't have too much drawer space in my bathroom. I secretly want to move all my make-up to my bedroom but I know my hubby would go crazy! lol I love your Tory Burch belt by the way, very gorgeous!
I like this set up much better than the clear drawers that took up all the counter space. Very nice and organized!
Love that BCBG top. So pretty!
-Julie
I love that BCBG top!
I also really like the way you organized everything. I have a little vanity in my room so I use the drawers in it to store a lot of my tools, and then I have a storage box from target that I also use too. Great post!
All my makeup and brushes are in a train case stashed under the vanity. Then next to that is a 2-tiered lazy susan with hair and skincare products. I only have 1 drawer and it's small – my next house is going to have his and hers vanities!
@amy- we have our own sinks but they are so small…i can't wait to have a bigger sink area!
I just don't get the belt. You have a fantastic figure and some really nice pieces but those belts are just awful. It makes a sophisticated dress look very childish. I would love to see you in some outfits WITHOUT the belt and WITHOUT cardis. I loved your blazer look. It was chic, age appropriate and stylish.
And yes, I know "you get lots of compliments" and blah blah blah. I don't even know why I am posting this considering you will just respond with your standard "people love it so it must be right" b.s.
I know I'm in the minority here, but every time you do an organizational post, I can't help but think everything still looks incredibly cluttered (especially in the bathroom). Maybe it just come across badly in photos. Or maybe you just need to get rid of some of your crap…
@anon- everyone is entitled to an opinion. I love belts and won't stop wearing them. I love how they look and think they flatter the waist and add to the overall look.
Do you wear belts? You might like them if you tried it!
@anon number 2- I have a lot of products and they are all within reach. The second drawers are mostly products I don't actually use. It works for me! 🙂
olivia- the makeup is hidden away so when the drawers are closed, the sink area looks nice and clean. I wish I had more storage but I don't.
If by "flatter the waist" you mean "make a gorgeous dress look fug" then sure! BELTS RULE!
And yes, I wear belts but not all.the.time. Only when it actually goes with an outfit. We get it, you have a tiny waist. You want to show that bad boy off. I get it. But there are SO MANY outfits that start off adorb and then you add a cardi and a belt and it goes from cute to fug in five seconds.
Anon- like I said, everyone is entitled to an opinion. I love belts and I'll continue to wear them (and cardigans too!).
I have to give you credit V. At least you own your fug. Rock on with your tiny belted self!
Maybe it's implantation cramping? I got that with both of my pregnancies. Not that I even know if you are trying but hey… I think you would be the cutest preggo gal and would love to see your OOTD and nursery posts when you are! 🙂
@anon- I disagree that I look "fug" but OK. Of course I own it. I like the way I dress, which is why I dress the way I do. People have different senses of style…that's OK.
anon- I am definitely not pregnant, I just finished my time of the month. It could just be related to my IBS.
On a serious note, go to the doc V. I had a dull cramp like that and had a kidney infection.
@anon- thanks 🙂 I've had no other symptoms but you just never know, gotta be careful. If it persists I'm calling the doc tomorrow!
Oh boo. None of my business anyway but hey, I will look forward to those posts whenever they do happen. For what it's worth, you inspired me to start wearing more belts because I think they look so cute on you. I was never a belt girl and now own a couple. 🙂
I think the belts and cardis help to make these outfits more office/day appropriate. The black dress might look too sexy for work, but the belt gives it a more casual/day look imo.
You DID clean up!!
I wish I had drawers…sadly only counter top space that I can only do so much with, booo:$ lol
Good job though! I'm obsessed with containers and organization too

goodness you hold your own with these anonymous commenters, v! just checking in this morning and hope you are feeling better and that dull pain went away 🙂
I love both of your outfits Veronika! I just bought containers this weekend to reorganize the way that I store my makeup and skincare products; it was time for a change!
I love the second dress 🙂

Wow do people put rude comments up anonymously?
I like the looks. and for me, I feel like I re-organize my make-up/bathroom a couple times a year. It seems to work and then all of the sudden I can't stand it..haha oh well!
* why do people put up rude comments anonymously. whoops!
PursuitofLLT, anonymous wasn't rude she was just giving her opinion. That isn't rude.
belts are cute – they make what might otherwise be a boring outfit more chic and express personal style. just imho 🙂 my only thing about belts is that it I personally have a hard time finding cute waist-cincy ones that fit correctly, actually stay in place, and are affordable but not cheap looking. your tory burch one is cute, but it would be a splurge item for me, and i currently cant give up my designer jeans as my big splurge item (im in grad school – i can splurge like once a season tops! lol)
i 2nd whoever said side cramps can = kidney infection. that happened to me. not fun.
@anon- the TB belt was originally $295 and I got it at the outlet for $79!!! a great deal 🙂
I have found cute belts at J.Crew and Forever 21…even express
I love the belt.
Feel better soon! I hope it's nothing. Keep an eye on it – appendix is on the right side.
Where did my comment go??! If you get this twice, sorry! I said, I love the belt, and keep an eye on your pain – appendix is on the right side. Hope you feel better and it goes away soon!
Steph
I'm that anon who wrote about cute belts in that 1:33 comment above – no idea why my log-in didn't work, but it was probably my fault lol.
anyway THANK YOU for commenting back about the belt on sale – that is a super fantastic deal! The cute belts I have right now are from Banana Republic & a local store called Crimson Ridge (amazing store!) but for some reason, I have a really hard time finding the high waist-y type belts (which you rock – don't listen to the haters, InSyle magazine would totally approve of your belted-cute look, lol!).
anywho…I'll have to check out F21 & J Crew and see if any of their's fit me. Do you find you have to try on millions of high-waisted belts to get the right fit? Or is there some "trick of the trade" for high waisties that I'm totally missing? I love the look, I just have a hard time making it fit comfortably & getting them to stay in place and stuff.
rachael- I don't usually have a hard time finding belts. You just have to make sure you secure them fairly tightly so that they stay on your waist and don't fall down.
I sometimes make my own holes in skinny belts to make them fit better 🙂
I'll have to maybe trying poking some extra holes and see if that does the trick. Either that or I'm blaming my weird rib cage. :/
I've been looking everywhere for a cute high waisty that has an elastic band on the back but leather in the front area…I saw one in InStyle a while back but it was uber expensive, and so far no luck finding one that is affordable without being cheap looking.
Thanks!
Ah, I'm so envious of your organized bathroom! My counter looks pretty clean…just don't open the medicine cabinet. I think you've inspired me to clean up my mess 😉
I love organized makeup! But I would definitely recommend that you don't store your brushes in your bathroom, or any other high humidity area. The humidity will cause the glue to soften and the bristles to loosen and shed, you spent good money on them, I'd hate to see them go bad! Love the adorable new layout! 🙂
