I’m pretty much obsessed with constantly finding the best storage solutions for every room of our home. Last weekend H and I spent a good 3 hours cleaning out our storage closet. We dropped off several bags of clothing and houseware stuff to the Salvation Army today. It feels good to get rid of all of that clutter while also knowing it’s going to someone who can benefit from it.
One of the rooms in our home that tends to get crammed with all sorts of things is our bathroom. It never fails- lots of hair, skin and makeup products plus cleaning products, towels and styling tools. Our next house HAS TO have a bigger bathroom. I just can’t compromise on it! It’s tough to organize such a small space when it’s one that has so much STUFF in it.
I spent some time this weekend reorganizing our bathroom’s storage closet. I got some $17.99 large baskets from Target to store my face towels and pillow cases in (I use a new face towel every time I wash and a new pillowcase every other night, so I have a lot of them.)
This is how it turned out:
The baskets kind of pull out like drawers and they are nice and deep so they can fit a lot of stuff. I think it’s nice to have more decorative storage. At least it’s somewhat nice to look at.
The rest of that closet has a few other storage boxes including ones for my nail polish and random products:
Kind of messy right now. I need to get a bigger one for my nail polish because my collection keeps growing.
Then I have a 3-drawer system from Target that holds all of our medications:
I also keep my hair stuff on this shelf. Velcro rollers, brushes and hair accessories. They are in a pull-out black metal mesh-style storage unit from Target. It cost under $20.
I also have an over-the door hanger that can hold bathrobes, towels and even my curling iron! I hang it from there so it’s out of the way:
On the bottom level we keep our laundry basket and (right now) or vacuum cleaner. That usually goes downstairs but I was using it today and wanted to keep it up there.
I also have a system for my under the sink storage. I keep extra products there and products that are too large to fit into my side cabinet where my sink is (like the Redken Guts 10 can which is massive!) I also keep cleaning products there. You can’t tell from the picture but I have a plastic tray there that holds a bunch of cleaning sprays but I have more products than it can hold right now:
On the left side of the sink I keep all of my girl products:
So that’s how I’m storing things so far. I think there’s always room for improvement but I take it step by step as I come up with new solutions.
How do YOU organize your bathroom? Share your tips and ideas below!

Excellent use of space – good job!!
-from another organizing nutcase!
I am obsessed with organization as well! I love shopping in the home storage/organization aisles at Target and Walmart! I like to use plastic bins and tubs to hold things and keep them somewhat in order. I'm always on the lookout for better ideas tho! Thanks for the post.
Your closet looks very organized!!
I bought a small black wastebasket that I use to put my curling iron, straightener, hair dryer, diffuser and brushes in. Since it's tall and narrow, everything just sits upright in it and I can pull things out pretty easily. I have it on the floor of my bathroom closet.
I swear by my over-the-door hanger! I hang my robes, towels, and my hair styling products (CHI's, curling irons, and blow dryer)! It has saved me a ton of space–since I used to keep my styling tools just rolled up under the sink or on the counter.
Oh, baskets are a life-saver too! Love, love, LOVE them!

this such a good organization. i love it.
i really think its time for me to fix my stuff too. haha.

We have many products in common. I have a ton of stuff. How do you like velcro rollers. My hair is getting pretty long and I'm sick of ponytails. Thanks!
I feel like we had the same organizational weekend! I got rid of bags of clothes and lines for goodwill.
When I organize my linen closet, I take the too big comforters that fold awkwardly and fall, and wrap them tight in an old tie-belt with a d-ring that I no longer like. That keeps it compact and able to stay in its spot!
As for everything else I'm a big clear storage bin person. The small shoebox size are perfect for makeup. I put all my hair products in a basket like yours so it can easily be grabbed and put on the counter if I'm not sure what I'm going to use.
As for other stuff, I hang all my long necklaces on these coin nails I made. Perfectly in sight so I know what I have and pretty to look at! Check it out on my blog…just did a post about it the other day.

Oh wow, I have those same exact baskets in my bathroom too! Love 'em!
Looks great! I really need to do this….we have no drawers in our bathroom. How do you hang your curling iron from the wall hanger?
I am getting ready to move into a new house, so this post was very helpful! I love those baskets from Target that you got; they are a great size, and they look really nice, too. Hopefully when I move in I can get it organized right away so that it is easier to maintain. I know that if I don't organize right away, it definitely won't happen for awhile!
Your storage looks like mine… just CRAMMED with stuff! lol I read this post thinking I'd come away with some great ideas on how to store it all, but now I think I've just come to the conclusion that I have way too many products and miscellaneous crap; and I need to start giving stuff to friends or throwing things out! There's no way I use all of it on a regular basis… my nail polish collection alone is like twice the size of yours… and I only have 10 fingers & 10 toes!! lol Gosh I feel like such a product hoarder! Anyways, great idea on the towel baskets… super cute and I will be using that! 🙂

Great job! I'm always trying to find good solutions for bathroom storage. I think it's extra hard because there's always more products to store!
I am also an organizing nut and I think you did great! Random Q – do you find that towel bar good for hanging multiple towels – do they stay dry & not get mildewy? I have a two-bar towel holder and my husband's towel is on top of mine – so they always touch and get mildewy quicker b/c his hangs over mine. Maybe side-by-side would work better! 🙂
My bathroom storage is a lot like yours – for now! In a week or so I'm downsizing to a much, much smaller bathroom and am a little nervous about it. I'll be getting one of those over-the-toilet cabinets for towels and linens. Under the sink I'll keep cleaning products in one tray, girly stuff in another. I'm sure it will be a work in progress!
Love those baskets you got. They're cute and functional, gotta love that.
anon- we hang our towels on our glass shower to dry after we use them so no towel rack for us 🙁
Hi Veronika i like the baskets, can you make a post how you make your hair, products before and after style, how use velcro rolls, color, etc.
please I love your hair.
I love baskets too! I buy them whenever I find them on sale, and that way I can feel a little more "organized" because things are put away.
Looks awesome!!—I always am giving away bath products (bubble baths, lotions, etc) to family members as I always get so many during the holidays. It's amazing how quick that stuff accumulates.
I like those baskets-looks great! So sorry to see those personal attacks on your formspring-that's just sad. I'm glad you maintain your blog as fashion/beauty/decor. People are creepy enough as it is with the small details you do provide. Keep up the great work- love the blog!

thanks ashley 🙂 I have to say, sometimes I'm surprised by the things people write on my formspring to get my riled up. I do keep the page though because 90% of the questions are genuine and nice.
It's just funny to me that someone would go as far as to comment on my marriage…it's just…odd?
I just organized ours and did a blog post on it:

Those baskets from Target are so cute. Form, function, and pleasing to the eye! You have a heck of a lot of nail polish and beauty products!
Amazing post! I need to do this too!
