I had a very long day today (worked until 8 tonight) so I wanted to keep it simple with my attire today…and keeping it simple often means resorting to black and white. I had an important meeting in the morning and last-minute event planning all day so there was no room for fuss with today’s ensemble!
Here’s what I wore:
Seriously. Need. New. Camera. I already sent out a text of desperation to my tech-savvy kindred spirit of a friend in Toronto to come to my camera-aide! and THANK-YOU to all of the wonderful ladies who posted camera recommendations in my post yesterday. I am going to do some research and then decide which camera will soon be mine!
Dress- Club Monaco
Belt- J. Crew
Cardigan- Express
Shoes- Michael Kors
…and before I go, I want to address something and then it won’t be addressed again. I created my Formspring page so that there would be one place for my most commonly asked questions. I used to just have people email me when they had a question, but Formspring made it easier because the answers are all in one place and can be accessed by anyone. The problem is the “anyone” part. I’ve just decided that I’m no longer going to answer questions that are rude, offensive or too personal. I just don’t have room for that kind of negative energy in my life and I feel like I repeat myself over and over (and over) when I answer these types of questions. So please note that from now on, all questions of that nature will be deleted. So please, save your time.
Thank you to all of my lovely readers who support this blog and give me the positive energy I need everyday to remain committed and passionate about blogging. I love you girls!
xoxo,
Veronika.
Love the dress! It's so fun!
I think you are adorable and really sweet. 🙂 So just ignore the negative comments or questions.
I love that dress!!
thanks tay 🙂 the fuller skirt is a fun change from my usual pencil skirts!
rosa- you are so sweet! thanks for always commenting on my blog! i always notice when you do 🙂
Love the dress with the cardigan and your outfit of the day series!
great, classic outfit. love your outlook and completely agree with your decision regarding formspring! 🙂
I've never commented on your blog before but I want to tell you how much I admire how you're handling all these nasty comments and questions on Formspring. I can't remember the last time I saw someone handle such a bad situation with so much grace, class and elegance. And I love your blog title by the way.
chateau- thank you 🙂 I love doing OOTD's and I love seeing other bloggers do it too! lots of inspiration!
Jessica- thanks 🙂 I just got tired of the same crap over and over. I get it, some people think I suck…moving on!
anon- thanks for your comment. I actually realized recently that by responding to those comments I was fueling the fire and giving people what they wanted: a response…so I'm just not going to waste my time doing that anymore!
Kudos to you! Love your blog! Haters are going to hate, you've done awesome at being the bigger person and I'm sorry you even have to deal with this high school BS in the first place. Have a great rest of the week!
I agree with anon, you handled those rude comments with class. They aren't worth your time so good for you no longer responding to them!
Cute dress – love!
I agree with the others commenters… don't fuel the fire, just ignore and focus on the positivity!

Great attitude, V! I don't see why anyone would be so hateful to you? Jealousy is the only answer. Just keep being you–you're gorgeous and helpful! : )
I can't believe people's negative comments and questions on Formspring. Just because we blog about fashion and beauty doesn't mean that we are experts. That's the great thing about having a blog – it's a space for regular girls like myself who are not professionals but have a huge love and passion for clothes, cosmetics, and the like to share our thoughts. What's the big deal? Just because we love to shop doesn't mean that's all we do, and it certainly does not imply that we aren't intelligent! I know you live within your means and I definitely do too. I work and save for the things I want and buy. No sugar daddy here! Keep doing what you do veronika. Your blog is fun and it's one of my faves ♥
Veronika I love your blog; it is one of my favorites! I just wanted to let you know that I love your positive attitude. As always, I love your outfit. It is the perfect look for a day when you don't want to think too hard about what to wear.
You handle everything with such grace. Just a lovely girl! By the way, sometimes when a memory card gets too full or is too old the pictures come out fuzzy. Try a new memory card and see if it helps!
omg that dress!! i missed you camera recs but I LOVE my Canon Rebel!
Cute outfit! And I can't wait to hear what camera you choose. I totally understand you not wanting to answer negative questions, there's no need to have to explain yourself for why you shop "too much" or defend yourself against haters. So I like your decision!
Every time I see that cardigan I love it more.
Black and white are my all time favourite colours! If it's good enough for Channel it's good enough for me! You look fab! Laura x
Love that dress! And the whole outfit really.
I love that dress! So adorable! After seeing that cardigan on you, I purchased two of them. The black one and the teal one. I love them and they will be perfect for the Fall.
Your blog is great, I love it and I admire your positive attitude. Unfortunately, there are sick people who think it is funny to make people feel bad by posting rude things about them online. In my eyes, these people are sad and pathetic. I admire you for your strength and positive attitude. Keep up the amazing work that you do!
Love the blog and I am glad you have decided to ignore all of those who are rude and hateful :). You are beautiful and you have great taste in fashion and beauty, those who are critical are either insecure or jealous- I had to deal with people like that in high school and looking back I can see now why they were so hateful, their lives were really sad and I actually feel sorry for them because they can't be happy but feel that they need to tear others down in order to make themselves feel better. Ignoring them is the best policy, good choice!
LOVE the dress! I dont know what nasty comments but I posted on my blog that I will not tolerate douchebaggery! LOL
Like some others, I haven't commented on your blog before, but I'd like the opportunity to say that I LOOOOVE your blog!! I love when there is an update in my google reader for your site. I think that you have amazing style that's also practical – I model a lot of my daytime ensembles for work after your OOTDs!
From a fellow "nestie" (who rarely posts haha)- I totally understand and see how ridiculous people can be. Ignore all the haters – they are obviously incredibly jealous. You're freaking gorgeous and have tons of class. <3 you V!
I just wanted to tell you that you have really inspired me with your blog and have created my own just from a plus size perspective. Thank you for giving me some of my confidence back Veronika!
Jaimie
I love that dress!
Really love the outfit!!! The touch of gold in the belt totally makes the outfit come together.

hi veronika! i only recently found your blog and i check it all the time! love the new format (less highlighting) and love that you realize there are always going to be haters and they aren't worth your energy 🙂 keep doing what you're doing – its great!
First, I have to say that you have good advice/opinions on hair, makeup and skin care. The fashion part I'm not so sure about. You seem to always wear the same things, never wear much color and never embellish with jewelry or statement pieces to truly make it your own. I think to be a fashion muse you have to be creative and inspired. It's not that I overly dislike what you wear or anything, I just don't find your style to be original. Also, I'm not sure why you take 5 pictures of the same thing. Most bloggers take a pic or 2 of the whole outfit and then focus on statement pieces or jewelry that bring the look together and showcase their originality.
anon- thanks for your comment. I am not sure why people think that because you do OOTD posts you are asserting yourself as a leader in fashion. I don't see myself that way. I'm just a regular girl who likes to dress nicely but yeah, there's nothing uber-original about how I dress- I shop at common, afforable chains that are attainable to most women.
I don't think have "original" style is what's important to me. It's about feeling comfortable and attractive in what I wear. For me it's one thing, for you, it's something else.
If you don't feel inspired by how I dress- that's OK, i don't expect you to be. I have other readers that feel differently and DO relate to my style- that's why they read.
Also- I wear items of clothing over and over (like sweaters and skirts) because they are staple pieces. I'm not going to just wear a simple black pencil skirt once…ever. I like to show how you can change just one piece of an outfit to change the whole look. I'm not a millionaire, I can't afford to wear new stuff all of the time. It's just not practical and doesn't fit with my lifestyle.
oh and one more thing- if "most bloggers" showcase their originality and you like that about them, then read their blogs. This is my blog so I don't see why you have to come here to bring negativity to this blog. If you aren't inspired by it and don't care for how I dress…then why read it? and take the time to comment too? Just let it be. Not every blog in this world will meet your expectations or be what you want it to be. So go to the ones that are better than mine and share some love over there instead of brining the negative here.
I'm sorry you're taking such offense to this. I didn't mean it that way. I do find you to have good ideas/advice on hair, makeup and skin care, as I stated. That's precisely why I read your blog. I just find that most of the time, I'm not inspired by the OOTD section. Hence, I go to other blogs for that purpose.
And just to comment on the part about not being a millionaire, I don't think you need to be a millionaire to have style and be original. In fact, some of the best places to find unique pieces are actually some of the cheapest. I didn't actually mean you wear the same things all of the time, I just meant that many of your outfits look the same.
anon- Yes, I understand what you are saying. What I continue not to comprehend is why you feel the need to come here and comment negatively on my sense of style and sense of originality like I asked for it.
If my blog said "I have the best style and everyone should dress like me and look at how I dress, I'm so awesome and original" and you didn't agree, then yeah, a comment like yours is warranted. But I am making NONE of those claims. I'm not saying I'm original or people should be inspired by me or that I don't "recycle" looks. I'm a real woman living in the real world, working fulltime. I don't have time to be a full-time blogger with time to create these amazing, super-creative outfits. I just wear work clothes that fit my style and industry of work.
I just don't get why people feel the need to tell me "you're not this" when I never claim to be, that's all.
I think as long as you're putting it out there, you're indirectly saying it. Sometimes it's not what you say…you obviously have a blog for a reason.
Anyway, I'm not here to argue or be malicious at all. It's something I've noticed and had an opinion on. I think you do have interesting insight when it comes to other things.
Not really sure how me posting my outfits is me saying I'm an authority on fashion but ok. Listen all I'm asking is WHAT DOES IT BRING YOU to post those kinds of comments? Does it make you feel good to try to unsuccessfully "bring down" another woman by telling her that her style is boring and unoriginal? Everyone has an opinion but people with class and good intentions don't anonymously post them. You must be getting some kind of personal return for posting it and id love to know what it is?
So basically what you're telling me is that you have a blog where you post your oufits, ideas, opinions, etc. and every person is supposed to think they're amazing? Or else we should keep our mouths shut. All that says to me is that you're posting the details of your life to get constant reassurance and compliments. Your style was something I've noticed over time and maybe if you weren't so defensive, you might actually take the constructive criticism and do something with it. It brings me absolutely nothing and I am in no way trying to "bring you down". If you re-read what I originally wrote, I in no way was trying to attack you. I do like your blog and there was one element that I thought could make it a little better, that's it. I didn't think it would escalate to this.
To be honest, I read alot of blogs and yours, by far, has THE MOST "negativity" and "criticism" I have ever seen. Maybe there's a reason for that…
anon- I reply kindly to constructive criticism all of the time on my blog!
What I don't respond well to is when someone says "your style really isn't that great or original…" I just don't understand why someone would even post that. It's not like I'm claiming to be original or unique. I'm just me and you either like it or don't.
I don't need constant reassurance or compliments- I get that enough from family and friends. But what I also don't need is negativity brought to this blog. That is NOT the place for this. If you have some suggestions or true constructive ideas on how I could "improve my style" you could have the honest to goodness guts to just email me and have an adult non anonymous conversation about it.
It also amazes me that you think that I need criticism so that I conform to other people's views of what style is and what is fashionable. That's the beauty about fashion- a dress can be beautiful to one person and awful to another. I showcase MY style because that's what I like. I'm not asking you to like it.
To be honest with you I read a lot of blogs and when I see an outfit that doesn't appeal to me, I click the RED "X" at the top right of my browser and move. I don't see the POINT in posting a negative comment or a comment meant to make someone "feel bad" or to try and convince them to "change their style" so it conforms more to what I EXPECT from a fashion blog. I respect that different people have different points of view. If I don't like it, I don't comment, period.
The reason you might not see a lot of negative comments on other blogs is because they delete them or they moderate and don't allow them to show in the first place.
I love the black dress – any dress with a nipped waist and full skirt = two thumbs up! 🙂
First off, I love the outfit. Full skirts are just beautiful and flattering on everyone, IMO. Secondly, I just have to say that I think that you are doing a fabulous job writing and sharing your OOTD's on YOUR blog. I really like the fact that you wear alot of the same pieces over again and show how they can be worn in different ways. I know for one thing that I can't afford to wear a different outfit every single day. You have really inspired me to shop for signature pieces that can be versatile as well as take a few chances on some stand out items. Kudos to you, Veronika 🙂
let us know how the camera search goes. i am needing an upgrade also ; )
Love your dresses:))
come visit https://rayabo.blogspot.com/
lovely dress 🙂
I noticed I can not find La Roche-Posay Effaclar AI Breakout Corrector in my CVS. I think they may have discontinued it and replaced it with the new spot treatment. I wonder if this is why you picked up the wrong one at your CVS. I checked their website and it doesn't even have it as a product anymore 🙁
