I know I haven’t done a “Motivation Mondays” post in a long time, partly because well, I’ve been seriously lacking motivation.
It’s a combination of things…stress, laziness, tiredness (probably a result of the stress.) I just haven’t been feeling like my usual energetic, motivated self lately when it comes to working out. I’m trying to get back on track…even if it’s just one or two workouts a week, I’ve gotta start somewhere.
Wanting to start my week off with happy things, I painted my nails in one of my favorite colors, Essie’s “Mint Candy Apple.”
So bright, pretty and perfect for summer. I’ve actually noticed a lot of bloggers and YouTubers wearing this shade lately so I was inspired to “go green.”
Sometimes, the best inspiration (for me) to get my butt in gear is a good old visit to my celebrity photo folder on my computer. These are some of its most recent images:
I recently read in US Magazine (I subscribe) that “The Hills” stat Kristin Cavallari said that the key to her slim figure is that she “has self control.” If only I had self control. I ate 5 SugarBaby’s Cupcakes over the weekend. FIVE. In less than 24 hours. By the way, they are amazing!!! Best buttercream icing ever!
But seriously, 5 cupcakes is insane but I couldn’t stop myself. They were just too good. Oh well. The past is the past. I’ve decided I’m going to start baking my own cupcakes anyways, because paying $3.00 or more for a cupcake is kind of atrocious (despite the sugary, butter-creamy goodness.)
I didn’t blog over the weekend but I did end up doing a tiny bit more shopping on Saturday with my husband. It was his birthday and he wasn’t feeling up to going out so we went to have lunch and while there we checked out a couple of stores at the mall.
I picked up a few things:
I wanted to expand my gel liner collection and this pretty dark brown shimmery bronze-y color fit the bill.
I also picked up this ADORABLE (and surprisingly long- as in, just above the knee) ruffle-top dress from Target: ($17.99)
I got it in a pinkey-coral color. Super bright and perfect for summer to slip on anytime! It’s marketed as a swim cover-up but I see many other possibilities for it because the length is good (though it doesn’t look like it in this pic). I got a medium and recommend you size up on this one. You can BUY IT HERE.
Then, I got this pretty black ruffle tube dress at Express, on sale for $30. I was wearing my black ruffle-top dress from Marshalls so much that I had to get something similar because I literally wore that black dress every single weekend everywhere I went. BUY IT HERE. (I got a size small)
It’s the perfect dress to throw over a swimsuit, run errands over the weekend, summer BBQ…the possibilities are endless!
Speaking of the weekend, I sometimes get questions on my FORMSPRING PAGE (where you can ask me anything) about whether or not I every dress casually and if I can post some of my more casual outfits. I usually don’t think to take photos when I’m dressed down, but I remembered this weekend, so here is my Sunday OOTD:
Really simple. Leggings, flips flops, a long, loose tank and an open-faced cardigan.
…and speaking of outfits of the day...here’s what I wore today ( I couldn’t resist wearing my new white zebra skirt that I scored at LOFT on Friday!)
Top- Costa Blanca (in Canada)
Skirt- LOFT
Shoes- Michael Kors
Necklace- Forever 21
Hope all of you lovely ladies had a fabulous weekend, and here’s to an amazing week!
xoxo,
Veronika.
Crave cupcakes are wayyyy better than Sugarbaby's! But Sugarbaby's is wayyyyy cuter on the inside!
Great post Veronika! Good luck with the getting back into working out. I was finding myself in a similar rut and decided to sign up for a half marathon in October to get my butt into gear. Signing up for the race has given me the motivation to get into shape – if I don't train now I won't be successful later!
Love your purchases (as usual) – enjoy 🙂
stacy- i've had Crave and I don't love them…they are almost too rich for me…and I also don't like it when cupcake places make most cupcakes with cream cheese icing…I prefer buttercream. I LIKE crave cupcakes, but I prefer sugarbaby's. I also really love celebrity cupcakes in the village but they only have 2 kinds I like. I can't wait to try sprinkles!!! it just opened today!
That ruffled black dress is precious! I love it- That Target cover-up is sooo popular! My friend has it in two colors, the other friend has another one. It's cute!
I love the inspiration pictures! The girls from The Hills always inspire me to try and look my best.
I also love that white zebra print skirt. Great for anytime!
You should try Celebrity Cupcakes in the Village (in moderation, of course). They are hands down better than Crave (blech!) or Sugarbaby's.
tara- I love celebrity cupcakes but they only make two kinds with buttercream icing.
I can't comprehend it. Cream cheese icing < buttercream icing
love the dress.. i have one just like it but it's a tank dressinstead of strapless… I wear it all the time and everyone always loves it… it looks great on you
xo
thanks J 🙂 xoxox
Ooooh, I love seeing your casual looks! I'm a SAHM and although I love your OOTD posts, they never really apply to my life!! And that zebra print skirt to to.die.for – my favorite of your recent purchases! Just picked up some L'Oreal Volume Collagen today, excited to see if it tops my HG Lash Blast. Love your blog!
Your body is banging you don't need to worry about motivation, 5 cupcakes and all!! HOT lady!
I love the zebra print skirt from LOFT…it looks great on you!! I love when you post your inspiration photos…the Victoria's Secret ladies always inspire me!!
I have the same ruffle top too in coral! lol I bought it in January and wear it all the time, it's perfect as a cover up or a regular dress. Great buy!
Love your OOTDs! That white skirt is amazing.
Those cupcakes look so fab 🙂
I saw a HUGE line out the door of Sprinkles on my way home from work last night. That definitly makes it tempting to stop in and try a cupcake.
Im in a bit of a workout rut as well. My husband and I bought bikes recently, and we started riding them to the gym to do a 15 min workout and then riding home (sometimes we make the ride home a longer ride). Then, each week we add 5 min more at the gym. It helps make the workouts fun and not so overwhelming when you are not really feeling motivated.
I used to ride my bike all over town when I was inside the loop. Its a great way to excercise and run errands on the weekend.
Im making a trip to loft immediatly to buy that skirt, its too pretty to pass up! I noticed you have a nice black, textured skirt from Ann Taylor that I have as well! I love those two stores!
Hi Veronika,
I was hoping for some advice about the Pureology line. I've heard so many raves about their products I think I might have to make the switch.
I read in your archives that you were going to try out the "Essential Repair" Shampoo. How did that compare to the more expensive Pureology "Nanoworks" Shampoo? Is "Nanoworks" really that much better that it's worth the extra cost?
Thanks in advance and as always I love your blog!
Julie- I think the less expensive fomulas are fine. I'm trying the volumizing line next. Nanoworks is great, but I don't know that is $25 greater tahn essential repair… 🙂
as long as you are using sulfat free, you are already taking a grat step for your hair health 🙂
May I ask how tall you are? I would like to know where the length of the black dress would hit my legs.
I am giving away a J Crew bracelet at petitegorgeous.blogspot.com
Hope you will enter to win 🙂
petite- I am 5'10 🙂 i will go enter now!
I love that skirt! I saw it in the store a few weeks ago, but they didn't have any left in my size. 🙁
Oh well. Now I'll just have to go find a good cupcake to make myself feel better!
