Today my lovely mother in law and I decided to do a little shopping because I don’t get to go to Kohls very often since I don’t really have one near me. I wanted to check out Lauren Conrad’s line while I was there.
Originally I was on the hunt for pretty summer dresses (work-appropriate), but I wasn’t able to find any I really loved. I did however, pick up this pretty top for 30% off (LC by Lauren Conrad):
I really liked the zipper detailing and the pretty watercolor floral design. The top is pretty over skinny jeans or tucked into a skirt.
We visited a few more stores and I wasn’t very impressed…but then…we went to TARGET. I had fully intended on not partaking in the ZAC POSEN/CYNTHIA VINCENT craze…but I succumbed to two items and one may have even been a “meant to be item.”
I’ll start with the Cynthia Vincent wedges. I’ve seem them plastered all over every single magazine and blog and I loved them but thought “I’ve never owned brown shoes, so they must not be for me.” Well, fate had other things in mind.
My mother in law and I had searched the store far and wide and not one Cynthia Vincent shoe could be found. Finally at the end of one of the shoe aisles was a small display of 20 or so of those telltale bright yellow boxes…and sure enough there was the remainder of the CV for Target shoes.
…….and could you freaking believe it? There was ONE lonely pair of the wedges left….and they were in MY SIZE. It was a sign right?
So I tried them on. Still not convinced as I had not seen them in a mirror, I took them to the fitting room with me…and sigh…IT WAS LOVE. Plus, I don’t own even one pair of brown shoes (unless you count UGG boots) so the $29.99 wedges seemed a justifiable addition to my shoe collection.
Before I get to the fitting room photos, I also wanted to mention that I got the GORGEOUS and amazingly flattering Zac Posen for Target tuxedo skirt. Oh how I love it. I put it on and it was like a match made in heaven. Once again, the sizes are juniors and fit small. I got a 9 in the skirt. I wanted to be able to pull it down a bit on my hips so it didn’t inch up to mini skirt territory (it is meant to be worn high-waisted, but I like how it looks the way I’ve got it on.)
This skirt is SUPER high quality and very expensive looking and feeling- the fabric is sort of heavier. I have to give a shout out to Anh over at 9 to 5 chic for raving about this skirt.
So you see!? I just had to get both the skirt and shoes. It was written.
Have you ever found one amazing item left in YOUR size and just had to have it?
xoxo,
Veronika.
it def. seems that the shoes were fate! And I think those are a great first pair of brown shoes, they aren't super dark brown so they will match a larger variety of pieces than a darker pair. I used to not wear any brown footwear either, and I slowly realized just how many things looks just great with them.
I am drooling over those shoes! I haven't had a chance to pick them up yet and I am praying that my target still has them!
hope- maybe you'll be as lucky as I was and find the last pair in your size!
natalie- I think the brown shoes even look OK with black…that may be a no no for some but I actually don't mind it 🙂
Those shoes were definitely meant to be! That happened to me last spring at TJMaxx. I was looking for a dress for a wedding and I found ONE black floral Express dress in MY SIZE from the previous summer that I had loved. I think I paid something ridiculous like $24.99 for it when it had retailed at like $69.99 the year before. I was so excited!
Wooohooo! Glad you found the shoes (I've given up, no luck) and that you like the skirt!!! I like your idea of wearing it lower on the hips better, it looks fantastic! xoxo
those shoes and skirt are so cute!! love them on you.
Just like Anh, I have given up as well at ever finding the CV wedges! But they are so pretty, they look great on you! I did happen to go to Target this weekend as well, and I got the CV black gladiator sandals…LOVE! I'll probably do a post tomorrow. I sadly didn't get anything from Zac Posen. Not because I didn't like the items, but mainly because most just didn't look right on me.
I love those shoes. I wore mine today and I loved them even more!
love those shoes. It was written. hahah
I miss me some Kohls. It's been a while since i've gone too.
I got the brown wedges too! I really like them.
I'm also loving that LC top, I'll have to check it out. I bought a skirt from her line, the gray one with the black lace trim, and I really like it.
Oh, by the way Veronika, what size did you get in the LC top? Just wondering how it runs.
ashley-I got a size medium. The small would have fit too, but the medium was a little but looser.
I also tried on the grey and lace skirt you're talking about. It was cute but too short on me!
YIPEE!!! So exciting! AS IF they had your size (and one pair at that) left! Awesome!
Nice LC top, pretty.

so what do the shoes feel like? cute! you lucked out!!
mshark- I haven't worn them yet other than in the store…I will report back once I've worn them to work 🙂
I swear we are on the same fashion brainwave. I *almost* bought that same LC top from Kohls this weekend. I had to restrain myself. The CV skirt was a surprise buy for me as well. I just love the fit of it! The shoes and skirt look cute together on you.
couture- thanks 🙂 I really love both items! I love your blog too 🙂 thanks for commenting!
Janice – that shirt actually sort of reminds me of the DVF you wore the other day!
LOVE those shoes and I love Target! I get the most compliments on my shoes from there and people are always so surprised when I say they're from Target!
I also love Lauren Conrad's new collection at Kohls, I hope this line does better than her last one. I also heart her!
You look great, I especially love the shoes!
thanks Jony 🙂
Yay! Some color/floral!!
I'm jealous of the shoes-it seems as though all of the Targets in CA have sold out of them…or maybe they're not here yet. I'm still holding out hope to snag a pair!
Yay for you, so lucky w/the wedges! They look great 🙂
