I woke up at 6:20 this morning (ick!). I tossed and turned until I officially got out of bed at about 8:40. I hate when I can’t sleep in on weekends, and that’s been happening a lot lately.
I got ready and headed to my hair appointment at Toni & Guy in the Galleria. I was so nervous when I got there, but my best friend gets her hair done there all of the time and hers looks great so I tried to have faith.
I went to Stephanie, and my experience was amazing. I sat down and immediately told Stephanie about all of my crazy neurotic hair issues and how I absolutely cannot lose the length of my hair blah blah blah. She listened intently and said “don’t worry, I’m not one of the scissor-happy ones.” She explained exactly what she is going to do and talked me through every step of the way, even stopping to ask if “x” was OK (she would show me how much she was cutting off, etc.) Her technique was VERY precise, which I loved. I’m thrilled with the result. My hair is still long, just bouncier and softer from having some of the dead ends trimmed off. Stephanie also has an amazing blow-out technique that gives you awesome volume. I’m going to post some pics below, but keep in mind that I tried on clothes all day so my hair is a bit messy compared to how it looked when I walked out of the salon. Houston ladies- if you are looking for an amazing stylist, Stephanie is the way to go. She listens to you and does exactly what you ask for.
Now on to the shopping. I bought two on-the-pricier-side tops today, but I love them so much. They were worth it!
The first is a sheer blouse from Zara (size small, $59.50.) I was actually leaving the store when this blouse caught my eye. The pattern and colors were just so gorgeous. I can’t wait to wear it tucked into a skirt or with skinny jeans or shorts.
While at Zara I also tried on this amazing skirt which I now regret not buying (in fact, I might swing by and get it tomorrow.) I just thought the colors and pattern were so unique. I thought it looked flattering on, too. The reason I was hesitant is because I couldn’t figure out what top I’d wear with it…but now I realize white, black or navy tees would be perfect with it. Just a simple top in a solid color. Here it is:
*Sigh* What do you think ladies…do I need to go back and get it?
The other top I got was from Nordstroms. I don’t shop there a lot because I always assume it’s only designer stuff, but I got this great top in one of the sections that sells more affordable clothes and I love it.
I just love the detailing at the neck and bottom of the top. It’s going to look incredible over skinny jeans. It was $78.00. I think it’s such a versatile top that it was worth the price. It also comes in a great ivory color.
Happy weekend to you all!
xoxo,
Veronika.
Love your hair! VERY Victoria Secret model hair! *hair envy* ♥
Your hair looks great! I think the skirt is ok, I might pass on that one. Love the black top you bought though, the detail is gorgeous.
Luv the haircut! I definately love your color and highlights too. If only I could find a hair dresser who could do that! lol I've had so many bad experiences with highlights being too light or orange or being too chuncky. What is your base color and highlights that you get?
Your haircut looks fantastic!! I love that top from Zara, it looks great on you.
jaclyn- the base color is my natural hair color 🙂
Love your hair! I'm glad you had a good experience. I do like the skirt too…I think it would be a good addition to your wardrobe and a nice step away from black. A white top would look great with it like you said!
– Jennifer
– Hair looks great. Disaster averted!
– That top is super pretty…I would never have picked it up in the store but actually on you it looks really good. KUDOS on a great top that isn't black! 🙂
– The skirt is cute as well, though I do love the top much more so if you had to leave one behind, you picked the right one. However, I do think you should go back and get it because it's definitely something different.
I got my hair cut by a new stylist this week, too, and I'm super happy with the result. I usually HATE going to the salon because I'm always disappointed and this time the stylist really listened to me and actually gave me good advice ! Yay for good hairstylists 🙂
Btw, I gave you a few L'Occitane tips in the comment section of your wedding flowers post.
I hope you feel better !
french lover- sorry I didn't respond to that last comment- I saw the rec's and thanks so much 🙂 I might have to try a product or two to see how I like them 🙂
Your hair looks insanely gorgeous V! Love it!
I would go back for the skirt, I love it!
Great buys.
I love ur hair. It looks great. I think u r beautiful btw. I was wondering how is the nordstrom black top? Hat brand is it? Did u get it at the junior (BP) section? What was the brand name. I think it's absolutely beautiful. Gotta hunt that top down. Heehee
Lisa- it's the brand "blue velvet" (just went and looked) i think it might be in the junior's section…not sure…I know the sections have "names" but I don't shop there enough to know how the store is divided. Based on what else was in the section it's safe to assume it was the juniors section.
I know this might sounds weird but i love your eyebrows!!! That's what I've always tried to get my eyebrows to look like.
makeup addict- thanks so much! I pretty much just keep them natural and I trim them and pluck the strays a couple of times a week. I also use the anastasia of beverly hills brow powder. Your comment is so funny because I've had someone make a comment on my blog before that my eyebrows were "tragic" LOL!
I was just thinking the same thing! I love your eyebrows! I tend to overpluck and you are inspiring me to slow it down with the tweezers!!! 🙂
Love the tops, the skirt – I could take it or leave it. I like it, don't love it. Your hair looks gorgeous too!
funny, just thinking the exact same thing as the girls above.
your eyebrows are absolute perfection!
i love your hair!! it looks amazing.
glad it worked out with your usual hairstylist being gone!! i know the feeling of a bad cut, this is gorgeous.
I really don't like that Zara skirt at all. The pattern and material remind me of a 70's "moo moo". Good that you passed on that one.
Love love love the hair! I think it's the perfect length/style and you really shouldn't go any longer. But I do understand the "quest for long hair". I grew mine out to the small of my back last summer and felt like a goddess for a few months. But then I realized it wasn't really doing anything for me so I took it back up to about your length.
What photo did you bring in for your "celebrity inspiration"? I would love to get some more layers put in, I want your hair!:)
Your hair looks amazing! And I love your lipstick!
amber- I've just got a clear gloss on, actually. My lips turn blue when I get cold so sometimes it makes my gloss looks more like a pale pink…weird, I know.
Hi there. Hair looks great. What level stylist did you use? I just booked an appointment for the Creative Director 1 in Tampa. Could get by with a lower level?
i used a level V (5) stylist. I really loved her and she's been doing hair for more than 13 years and really listens to what you want. I definitely think there is value in experience, but younger or less trained stylists sometimes have such a natural gift for hair that they are just as amazing. It's a hit or miss no matter what level- you might want to check your local Yelp or itySearch reviews and see if any stylists are singled out as being outstanding. Hope that helps 🙂
