Today I dragged my sick little self out of the house because I wanted to go to Ulta to redeem my $5 off coupons that I got several weeks ago. When I got those coupons I was so excited because the girl at the cash register told me I can use all $20 worth of them in one purchase! I was like YESSS!!! $20 worth of stuff for free!
You know how when things sound too good to be true, they usually are? I picked up a bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy
perfume only to find out that fragrances and anything on the entire right side of the store weren’t eligible for the offer. OK. Great. So then I went and found a few more things to add up to $20 and had to wait in line AGAIN…(I didn’t get the perfume because I couldn’t get the discount on it…maybe next time! It’s my fave new scent)
Once I got to the cash register again, the guy tells me I can ONLY use each $5 off coupon for every $20 I spend. WHAT!? I explained to him that I was told I could use them all in one purchase to get $20 off anything. Apparently not. Well a policy is a policy so I did the right thing, took my 3 other coupons and offered them to the people waiting in line. Because that’s the good Samaritan thing to do. BLAH! What a bad experience. This is why I love Sephora so much, I’ve never had any problems there and their return policy is amazing.
Anyways, I ended up picking up 2 nail polishes (Essie “Marshmallow”
and OPI “Bubble Bath”
). I also picked up another can of Neutrogena’s sunless spray
because it was 15% off today.
Nothing too exciting but stuff I needed.
I also went to MAC today and picked up a new Studio Fix Powder Foundation (I wear C3.) It’s my HG foundation. I’ve been wearing it for more than 9 years now. I’ve just never really had the desire to use something else because it’s everything I want in a product. I know the Studio Fix is either a love or hate product for most people, but for me, it’s just perfection!
I stepped into Victoria’s Secret today “just to look” and I was taken aback by the large selection of swimwear in my store. I was also impressed by all of the super cute bathing suits! The prices were spot-on too. I just had to buy this adorable blue ruffly one. It was $24 for the top and $20 for the bottoms. Pretty comparable to Target’s prices.
Here is a pic of it on. It was requested a few times with my last swimsuit purchase so I wanted to show a picture of how the top fits. I bought a size medium (top and bottom.)
That’s all for today! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend 🙂
xoxo,
Veronika.
PS- I forgot to add that I also got Emily Giffin’s new book at Borders for 30% off! Yay! She is one of my favorite authors (I’ve even met her and she’s the reason my best friend and I met too!)
She is the author of the popular books (now being made into movies) “Something Borrowed” and “Something Blue
.” You can to her her new book “Heart of the Matter.”CLICK HERE Heart of the Matter
Can’t wait to read this one!
love the swimsuit!
I love that foundation and need a refill myself! The swimsuit is adorable, love the ruffles! How annoying about the coupons, sorry you dealt with that today!
Please do a post on how craptastic Ulta has been lately! They told me the exact same thing about those stupid coupons. I ended up only getting to use one and gave the rest away. I even asked 2x to make sure I understood, because like you, I thought it sounded too good to be true. It seems like most of their "coupons" lately have so many restrictions it's not even worth trying to use them. Boooo Ulta!
anon- more people should complain! don't get me wrong it's nice when stores have coupons, but it's also wrong for them to be promoted as something they are not.
That bathing is adorable!
I have had bad service @ Ulta as well. Every time I go in there I have to wait forever in line, every time. It's annoying! One time I put something on hold, only to come back a few hours later & it wasn't on hold anymore. Also, I went to one of their makeup application things just for fun and the "makeup artist" was rude to me. I too, hate that their coupons exclude so many different products. Okay end of my Ulta rant 🙂
Oh how cute is that suit! Love the ruffles this year!
Love the bathing suit and the two nailpolishes ! And I've been wanting to read that book forever ! Hopefully I can have it shipped in France !
i love following you blog.. we shop at the same stores, have the same sense of style, and we read the same books! emily giffin is my favorite! and i had no idea that there was a movie coming out.. made my day!
V-that sucks! I just used my $5 off coupon there on Friday. I bought the SJP NYC fragrance and was able to use it ???
I have definitely noticed that some SAs are more helpful and sweet there at Ulta, whereas they all seem to be pretty awesome at Sephora.
Such a cute suit, fun color and of course–the ruffles 🙂
I wore Bubble Bath on my wedding day!
I love Emily Giffin books. Since I've been in school I haven't had a chance to do too much fun reading. I know what I am going to read this summer. I also want to say that I love Bubble Bath OPI nail polish. I wear it all the time because it is light enough that when it chips it isn't obvious.
I did not know that Emily Giffin books are being made into movies! Wow, now I'm super excited. I loved both Something Borrowed and Something Blue and got both of my best friends hooked on her books as well. Do you happen to know which actors are going to be in it? Sounds like a girl's night out is in our future!
sally – it's jennifer goodwin and kate hudson 🙂

Veronika,
I read your blog all the time, but I have never commented before. When I was reading tonight, I was so excited to see Emily Giffin's new book was out I gasped out loud! I am in love with all her books and have been patiently waiting for the new one. I will be making a trip to the Galleria tomorrow, so I will definitely stop by Border's to get my copy! Your blog is one of my favorites, keep it up!

Love your blog Veronika! You probably don't remember me but I used to post on P&E as julie_abeille. I've checked out a lot of fashion and beauty blogs, some of them can be so snooty! As a newlywed career girl I really can't relate to spending a small fortune on clothes. I would much rather use that extra money to decorate my home and travel. I look for pieces that fit my style (feminine, vintage, bohemian, with some classic 50's looks mixed in and great accessories) and my budget! I don't believe in going into major credit card debt to look fashionable and you seem to have the same attitude. I do splurge when it comes to high quality items that I use constantly for work. This year I invested in Coach totes, Clark's tall boots and fabulous jackets-all in black and brown.
I love your laid back and humble writing style, it's like how my girlfriends and I talk. I also think you do a terrific job of mixing "high" and "low". I really appreciate how you focus on affordable fashion, you are so good at accessorizing that everything you wear really does look high end and very personalized. You have a great sense of style and that goes a lot further than being a victim to each season's fashion trends. Keep up the good work!
Cute swimsuit–I am in the market for some too and hoping to find some tomorrow.
i went to target today at this new shopping area by my house. it's not really new but it got totally redone in the past few years and i never checked it out bc it had been so lackluster before. well, when i went to check out target they had SO many great new stores, including an ulta!! we don't have any of them around here so it was pretty exciting to go in for the first time. they didn't really carry any of the makeup brands i prefer but it was fun to look around. i ended up getting a trial sample of the cargo lash activator duo. besides that, i bought lots of great stuff at target and the nike store (!! so happy to find one near me!). anyway, just wanted to share! 🙂
ps. have you – or anyone else – ever paid a visit to the ulta salon, and if so, did you like it? i'm looking for a new place…
julie- thanks for your sweet comment, it made me smile 🙂
mere- def check out VS! I am 100% impressed with the in-store selections!
Kim- I've never used an Ulta salon and probably wouldn't. I personally don't like the idea of a salon also being a store that sells so much stuff and getting your hair done out in the open like that. But to each their own!
i love love lovee your swimsuit! x
What a cute bikini, love the color! How frustrating about Ulta, I had when you're given wrong information!
But, I had to post because of the book – I love Emily Giffin and I cannot wait to read that book! I went through all my books last weekend and found I have 42 unread books so I gave myself a challenge to read ALL of them before I'm allowed to buy HOTM and I'm just not sure it will happen, I'm dying to read it!
If you have FB do you follow Emily, she does a lot of really fun posts and it's great to see a glimpse into her life, she's super awesome!
One more thing, if you're on GR, add me! http://www.goodreads.com/tamarajean
Tamara- I do have Emily Giffin on FB! She has actually written on my wall before after I told her the story of how my best friend and I met at her book signing! she is so sweet 🙂
I love Emily Giffin books!! I have actually thought about re-reading 'Something Borrowed' – it was such a good read. Let us know what you think of her new book, I have heard mixed reviews.
Love LOVE the ruffly bathing suit! VS is always so great for having cute and flattering styles. Hope you had a good weekend Veronika!
I love the bathing suit! That color will look great on you too.
MsHark- it is more blue than it appears in the photo (which shows it a bit more purple than it is) and I actually was hesitant on how it would look on me at first but then I put it on and it was just such a unique color!
Cute suit! I just ordered 2 swimsuits online because they were like only $9 or 10 a piece!
here's one of them–love the color!

also, i have read the griffin books (two of them, something borrowed and something blue). i really enjoyed them! you will have to do a little review on the one you're reading now. if it's good, i'll read it : ) hope you had a good weekend!!
Emily's new book is on my to read list too!
That swimsuit is darling and I love the color!
Nice fake tits.
