I have to admit I was thrilled when RANDOM.ORG came up with the number “11” out of 169 because it saved me a lot of counting (and re-counting) as I only had to go 11 comments down (yay!)
…and the lucky winner is (and I LOVE this girl- she is a longtime reader and commenter on my blog- and also has a fabulous blog of her own):
Olivea from The Sweet Life!!!
Congratulations! (isn’t the spelling of her name so cute too!? I’ve always loved it!)
Here is the screen shot from Random.org. I always like to include it to show the drawing was random and fair (click to enlarge).
Thank you to everyone who entered. I will try to have giveaways more often…maybe my fave product of the month or something. Even if it’s something small, I like to spread the product love 🙂
Today Candice and I went to the mall to use our SEPHORA VIB promo coupons. I could NOT believe that Bare Escentuals was giving away 2 of their mineral eye shadows AND a good quality brush with ANY purchase (there was no amount you had to meet to be eligible.)
I’ve always wanted to try their shadows but never got around to it. The collection we got was the FOILED EYE one. The two shadows are gorgeous, shimmery taupe-y neutrals. I swatched them when I got home because I just loved the colors so much. I might use them tonight in my eye look!
The kit usually retails for $32.00! I feel so lucky that Sephora did this promo with Bare Escentuals because it has definitely made me want to get more of the shadows (I’ll see how the wear when I use them, but so far from just swatching, I have a feeling they’ll be gorgeous!)
I cannot wait to try them tonight! I think you can wear them wet for a more metallic look. I’m going to use them dry for a more sheer wash of color (but it might be fun to try them wet as a metallic liner.)
The only other purchase I made today was this pretty skirt from Club Monaco. It originally retailed for $129.00 and I got in on sale for $39.00 (score!!!)
Oh and one more thing…this is what I bought at Sephora to get the VIB deal: Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume roll-on
:
When this perfume first came out there was a lot of hype around it and I just didn’t care for it…then for some reason I tried some on a couple of weeks ago and I was IN LOVE. I tend to forget to put perfume on in the mornings, so this is nice because I can keep it in my purse.
I don’t like heavy scents and I don’t like when people wear too much perfume (in fact, I was recently APPALLED when a woman took a damn FULL SIZE bottle of perfume out of her purse and doused herself in it in the WAITING ROOM at my OBGYN’s office.) I wanted to say something to her, but I restrained myself. Some people can have asthma attacks or worse from being exposed to strong perfume sprayed near them (and the room was full of pregnant women who I know can be super sensitive to scents.)
I had a college professor who was deathly allergic to many scents and we were even asked to never wear perfume or other strong scented products to class because her system could go into shock (like epi-pen style.) I know that’s pretty rare but I also think it is really against common courtesy and etiquette to whip out your perfume in a doctor’s office. It is absolutely unacceptable to me.
Is there something beauty related that people sometimes do in public that annoys you? The prefume thing is definitely number one on my list. Trying on perfume at the mall, yes. Spraying several sprays of it in a doctor’s office…NO. There is a time and place ladies, and it’s not at the OBGYN’s.
xoxo,
Veronika.
Nail clipping in public grosses me out. I've also seen someone at work cut their split ends during a meeting and wash their feet in the work bathroom. Also gross!
ew! how can people clip their nails in public? that is sooo gross! I can't believe someone would whip out scissors in a meeting and cut split ends in front of everyone either!
I see a lot of girls in class peel the split ends off there hair…and the entire time I'm thinking that it has to be super damaging to the hair, so it really bugs me seeing that!
katie- I sometimes do that…but in the privacy of my own home LOL!
I've had that foiled kit for a while now. I'm always reaching for the darker shade. It's one of my favorites.
Isn't it great when a winner of a giveaway is a regular reader? I was so happy when the #1 came up for mine and it was MJEllis.
I love that skirt and what a great score!
I'f I wasn't sick toady I woul have been shopping!
I'm weird about watching people put on make-up in general, out in public. I was always taught that it's only polite to put it on, a) in the privacy of your own home, or b) in the lady's room (with lipstick/lipgloss being the exception). I can understand even like, on the subways in the morning, but I've been out at dinner and seen girls rooting around in their bags, pull out a compact and start doing a complete re-touchup of their face right there at the table! Crazy to me!
I think it's weird to see women applying lipstick at the table after dinner. I mean, would it really kill them to take a trip to the ladies room?
theres quite a few things that bother me:
1. people cutting their nails/toenails in the car
2. when people pop/pick their pimples in public
3. too much perfume in a small place (ie, what you said) i DO keep a full sized bottle of perfume in my purse but i always spray OUTSIDE, i won't even spray in on myself when im in the car by myself
4. people who have really dry lips and pick the dead skin off so their lips bleed.
5. woman applying makeup at the dinner table. i was taught that its not ladylike to apply makeup unless youre in the bathroom or your own house.
and the last thing that REALLY DRIVES ME NUTS is people who leave the house with super chipped nail polish on their nails/toes or people who have feet in really rough shape with dry skin and snaggle toe nails. but thats probably just the nail tech in me lol
Love the Foiled Eye kit! Can't wait to see how it looks. I teach at a middle school, and girls are constantly spraying their cheap perfumes all over themselves in the middle of the hallways. And they brush their hair in class, at the lunchline, in the hall… I can just imagine the little cooties flying everywhere with every brush stroke! Grosses me out!
ugh, i see people cutting their nails on the train ALL the time, it grosses me out so bad. ugh ugh ugh.
also spitting!!?? never okay in public. and onto the ground, where people walk!! ew
Did you need a coupon for the bare essentials deal? How cool!
2 things that really bother me:
1. When people constantly gnaw at their fingers in class, in a meeting, etc. And then they spit the dead skin out of their mouths onto the table, air, etc!
2. When people brush their hair in a restaurant or some other place where food is being served… gross!
BUT I do those those shadows you picked up…I would love for you to took a pic when you try them out!
That is my favorite perfuem and I have it in a roll on version bc I can't stand strong smells. In fact, I have gotten sick on the subway several times from smelling overpowering perfumes and colognes. While I was pregnant, I was sick all the time from perfume smells. Yuck!
OMG I love Olivea ! Congrats to her ! Plus she's getting married this week so I guess this will be a cute wedding gift 😉
The other day I was at the gym, 30 minutes into my cardio workout when some chick came to the machine next to me and a wall of perfume hit me. It was terrible. It gave me an instant headache and made me feel sick! ugh! I hate that! Its so rude.
MsHark- that has happened to me only it was a MAN who was wearing an insane vanilla musk! I had to get off because I got nauseous.
I need to start working out again…thanks for the reminder 🙂
I cannot STAND when I'm driving somewhere- most often it's in the morning on the way to work- and I see women applying their FULL makeup IN THE CAR. While DRIVING. Well, not really 'driving" seeing as how they havetheir face shoved into the sun visor mirror. I seriously can't stand that- it drives me crazy. If you're late, suck it up and bring your makeup to work with you. Secretly I wish they would poke their eye out with their mascara wand.
I love Daisy by Marc Jacobs, I wear almost everyday. I'm gonna definitely grab this roll-on!
Ugh I'm so sad I didn't get the VIB set. I went to Sephora yesterday and they were all out. I was told each store only got 25 kits.
anon- really? at my store they said they had more in the back and had to go and get me one…I guess I was lucky! the kits are a $32 value so I guess they had limited supplies because of that…?
