Today I called my waxing place to make an appointment with my favorite waxer…and was told she is moving to Michigan! I have been having such bad luck in the beauty services world lately…first my hairdresser left me and now my waxer. Sigh. If you haven’t checked out my piece about losing my hairdresser on CultureMap yet, go check it out, it might give you a laugh or two. How ironic is it that I’m losing my waxer too!? LOL.
Today I wore an eggplant colored J. Crew blouse and my beloved Target pleated skirt.
For some reason the shirt photographed a bit blue, but it’s a deep purple color.
I also snapped some pics of our new West Elm 2 x 2 Console Desk even though I swore I wouldn’t until I had finished accessorizing it. I think it looks OK right now, but I think it needs a lamp. I love how bright white it is.
I’ll post more pictures when I add more to the desk. I love having a desk in our home. Though I usually use my laptop from the couch, I like to store my laptop on it, use it there occasionally and use it to put my cup of tea on when I’m on the couch (it’s so hard to reach our coffee table from the corner seat where I sit.)
If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with Legally Blonde (the movie and the musical). I saw the show on Broadway when MTV reality star Bailey Hanks was in it (I actually got to meet her after the show.) It is such a fun show and I must admit that I have the score in my car and know the word to everysinglesongonthedarncd…and when I’m alone and sometimes even in the presence of my lovely husband, I will belt those songs out at the top of my lungs like no one is listening.
Which is why I got so excited when I saw these photos of original Legally Blonde Broadway star Laura Bell Bundy. I think they are from the Country Awards and I think she looks gorgeous. I believe right now she’s in the midst of releasing her first album. She looks thinner than I remember her, but I think she looks fantastic here- absolutely love her hair and makeup.
I also thought Carrie Underwood (as always) looked stunning:
I am not sure when this other photo of her was taken, but she looks amazing in it too. Her makeup is always applied so perfectly!
Hope you all had a fabulous Monday! Now tell me- have you ever lost your hairdresser or another beauty guru you go to? Did they move (or did you)? How did you find a new hairdresser? Let me know in the comments below!
xoxo,
Veronika.
Don't you just hate when that happens?! My hairdresser, who was the only hairdresser ever that would get my hair color right each time no matter which color I decided to try, blond or dark, she would get the perfect shade for my skin tone each time….well she moved to N. Carolina :(. My hair and I miss her! I need to find a new hairdresser very soon. So I know how that goes…
BTW, your outfit looks great as always. Great style =)

Michelle- thanks so much! I'm so excited and I just emailed you! It must be my lucky week, and what a great way to start it! thank you again 🙂
Love the J,Crew top! And both of the girls look so gorgeous!
I love your desk– it looks great! And those Carrie Underwood pictures are beautiful. I am so jealous of her perfect hair!
I lost the woman who did my hair dye – at a nice salon on Fifth Ave but she only charged me $80 for a single process and blowout! Then she left on maternity and never came back… after trying out several other people, I now dye my own hair.
Hi Veronika :-). Purple always photographs as blue on my camera. I love the dress on Laura Bell. Your piece was great. I enjoyed reading it. I think you got the 1st tip right. Ask other people where they get their hair done. I also look for chic people dressed in black who look like they might be hairdressers. That's worked a couple of times for me. Good luck till he returns!
Forget losing one, I need to find one first! I've never really been to a hairdresser more than once or twice, I just haven't had the 'feeling' yet! lol
I love that Bundy chick's hair! Its gorgeous! and I do love me some blonde 🙂
love your j crew top, its really pretty!
Your living room looks amazing! So jealous.
My waxer moved to Europe right after my wedding, I was so sad. It's been almost two years and I still cannot find someone who can do my eyebrows as perfect as she did them. I would always leave the salon in tears after trying new people. I just do it myself, so I have no one else to blame. It really sucks.
I wanted to go see legally blonde the musical so bad here in San Diego, it was playing like two weeks ago I think, but I couldn't make it. Next time I guess :/
i have a wonderful hairdresser back in dallas. i lived there for 6 years, but have moved out of town twice since (once to san antonio, now houston). i still make special trips to see her. when you find a good beauty guru, it's hard to leave . . . it's like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow! 🙂
I love your home Veronika! the desk is so chic and perfect. That stinks your hairdresser AND waxer have left you! Have you tried yelp.com? It's a great review site and if you live in a major metro area there should be plenty of salon reviews! Usually that helps. Or you could ask friends for recommendations and try someone out. By the way, my blog has gotten a complete face-lift! I'd love for you to stop by and check it out 🙂
kristin- I completely agree 🙂 thanks for commenting 🙂
I read your article V and it's really good! Not that I was expecting less, but I really enjoyed it.
I also completely agree with your Step 1. My current beloved stylist I found when I was sick of traveling back to hometown from college to get my hair done. I asked one of the girls in my sorority where she went (because I was obsessed with her current highlights) and wa-la, he's been my stylist for 6 years.
The shirt looks great with the skirt. I have the same top and don't wear it nearly enough…
Great desk! Your dog looks so cute in the pic with your hubby at the computer and doggy on the couch. His expression is adorable.
Sorry to hear about your waxer leaving too! Bummer. My hairdresser left me without notice – she had a major falling out with the salon owner, who is my mother's hairdresser and longtime friend. I have no idea where she went. Since the salon is over an hour away and I'm on a pretty tight budget right now I've been going to local walk-in places (bad, bad idea). So yeah … that story doesn't have a happy ending yet. I really need to find someone nearby who "gets" my hair!
I recently discovered your blog and have to tell you that I LOVE it, I just spent my first hour at work reading old entries of yours, so thanks for helping me pass the time! BTW, I also think me and my hubby are pretty much Guilana and Bill, LOVE that show!
Hope you can find a good hairdresser, your hair is gorgeous!

happy to have you as a new reader Tamara 🙂
Veronika, I just picked up that skirt at Target on Saturday. And it was even on sale for $15 🙂 I really like it as well! Sorry to hear about your hairdresser and waxer both leaving. Hopefully you find somebody new and fabulous soon!
A couple years ago I moved basically to the middle of nowhere and had to find a hairdresser.. it was challenging and I ended up with a few bad haircuts because I have very thick hair.. usually that's a good thing but if the person cutting it doesn't know how to do layers properly it's a total disaster! Anyway, I eventually found an awesome hairdresser by asking the wife of my H's coworker, who has great hair, to tell me who cut hers. I think your best bet is finding someone with hair you like (and who's hair is similar to yours) and asking them. You could also check on Yelp for hairdressers and read their reviews/look at pictures.. just be careful!
Hey girly, Im going to Target today to look for that skirt…. Especially if it is on sale now!
Before I got laser hair removal done, I went to Elise at Beautique in the Village. She was the best bikini waxer I ever had, and I tried many! She was really great and used the special blue wax you mentioned in a blog once.
It has been a long time since I went, so im not sure if she is there still but it might be worth a shot!
