Firstly, a PSA to all of my lovely and stylish Houston readers: Style expert Tim Gunn will be at The Galleria Mall this Saturday, March 27 to share his expertise as he hosts a Spring 2010 fashion show featuring Juicy Couture, Kate Spade New York and Lucky Brand Jeans. Guests will enjoy live style transformations, get invaluable fit and style tips and learn how to maximize their wardrobe for Spring. It’s happening inside of the Galleria mall right near Ann Taylor (on the lower level right beside J. Crew.)
Because the event starts at 1 PM, I sadly won’t be able to be there… and I love love love Tim Gunn (“Make it Work!”)
Why, you ask? It’s because I have my last color/trim with my wonderful hairdresser before he moves to Italy next month. I couldn’t imagine not having one last color appointment with him (and uh, it’s been months since I last had it colored…though, I’m pretty thankful I can let it go so long between visits.) I’m going to miss him (and so is my hair.)
Have you ever “lost” your hairdresser? What did you do? I’ll probably remain at the same salon and just have another stylist take a shot at my hair, but I am terrified about trusting someone else. I just like really blended, low-maintenance color and I think it takes real skill and talent to do that properly.
If you can make it out to see Tim Gunn, please do! I’m sure the event will be fabulous!
I want to give a quick update on my fitness progress (or lack thereof.) I have been trying to “get back on track” for like 3 weeks now. I completely failed. But that’s OK. I can’t beat myself up about it forever. So today when I got home from work I so didn’t want to work out. Like absolutely totally 100% didn’t want to do it. But I forced myself to do one of my “Elle Make Better” workouts. I just pushed through it and told myself “it’s just 30 minutes.”
I seriously admire anyone who can stick with the P90X program. I just haven’t been able to. It’s too much for me. I think I need to work out more before I do the program on a daily basis.
Bikini season is just around the corner and I need to get toned up again! What do you do when you’re in a rut and what is your summer workout plan? Let me know below!
Oh- and before I go- one more update: my skin has been really weird lately. Like super peel-y and uneven. I’ve been using the Clarisonic and haven’t changed anything so I think the weather is what’s making it act up. It’s cold one day and warm the next. Very inconsistent. Does your skin freak out when the weather changes?
xoxo,
Veronika.
My skin totally freaks out when the weather is inconsistent like that. I bet that is what it is. I just try to moisturize better during those times!
Hey was wondering, you have the lulul "still" pants not the "be still" pants right? And was curious are yours black or dark grey? I couldn't tell! I'm debating between black and dark grey.
Whenever the seasons change my skin changes. Right now it has been kind of oily because of the hot weather, and it gets weird and dry when the weather gets cold. Thankfully it usually clears up after a week or three. 🙂
I have been wondering if you ever shop online? I really like gojane.com but I can't decide if I should risk dealing with all that. Thanks!

I always have issues when the weather changes. I usually get a few breakouts, maybe some dry or oily patches too. I know just to deal with it for a few weeks and it will eventually go away on it's own!
I have been in a complete exercise rut the past two weeks as well. I just can't seem to find the energy to workout. To balance that, I have been extra diligent with my diet. It seems to be working because my weight as been going down. I will need to buckle down next week because my wedding is only 5 weeks away!
Do you know what base color your guy uses? Like 5N or whatever? I think yours is fairly close to my natural color but every time I get it colored, I go too light or too dark.
megs i think it is either 6N or 7N but i will know for sure on saturday because he is going to give me my colors so my next stylist knows exactly what to do! 🙂
Do you like the "Elle Make Better" program? I need something new. I do Jillian Michael's 30 day shred, it's only 20 minutes so it's pretty easy to work into the day, but it's super hard core. My husband said they had to do her workout in his old football program if that tells you anything =)
andrea- I do like it. It makes me break a sweat. I mainly do the beauty sculpt video but want to start doing the cardio one too.
The sculpting video combines weight training moves with a light weight and little bursts of cardio intervals. I really like it!
I have 30 D shred but havent done it. Maybe I'll do that tonight!
I've started doing the Couch to 5K program, and I also do hot yoga three times a week. I want to look toned in my summer clothes this year.
I, too, have been in a serious rut with exercise lately but at least you still look great even w/o exercise – I'm one of those people that if I don't go to the gym for 2 weeks you can actually tell…it sucks.
I just posted about exercise today in my blog too. For me, to get remotivated, I take structured, scheduled fitness classes at the gym because subconsciously I treat it like any other commitment/appointment as though I "have" to be there at such and such time and I'll be done by xx so I just always end up going. I also hung my bathingsuit right out in the open in my closet so every day I look at it and am reminded that swimsuit season is basically here.
Another thing I found helpful – find a picture of yourself where you look FAB – better even if you're in a swimsuit or very little summer clothing – post that baby right smack dab in the middle of the refrigerator so that you are reminded of it every time you go to the fridge.
Hope this helps.
great ideas Kristen 🙂 thanks! I find myself making more progress when I take classes as well. It keeps me motivated!
I LOVE Tim Gunn! We went to NYC last week and when we walked past Parson's I got all excited and started saying "Make it work!"…hehe…I know what you mean about your stylist. When I moved to Florida I has the hardest time finding a new stylist, to the point where I actually flew home twice to get my hair done. Is that terrible? It's a big deal! 🙂
i have been in a rut with exercise too! the gym has been super over crowded which takes me out of the mood. Driving around for a spot is so annoying to me! I was going to try the couch to 5k but perhaps I will give it another shot this year.
About the hairdresser thing. I am going the same thing. I recently moved to a new state and left my salon behind 🙁 I have yet to find someone that is up to the challenge of my hair. Right now I am on the hunt for a place in my new town so we will see….it has been six months and both times i have went back to my old salon during my trips to get my hair did!
OH and yah TIM GUNN!!
