I love watching the Oscars each year for the gorgeous gowns, hair and makeup.
Here are my favorites from this year’s Oscars:
I loved Amanda Seyfried’s dress, hair and makeup. She has such a beautiful face and really naturally pretty features. Her skin is gorgeous too!
On a side note, I am loving all of the starlets who chose to show off their non spray-tanned skin this year. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE me a spray tan, but the more alabaster skin this year was so pretty and unexpected. I always love a light glow, but I think the Oscars proved that the days of dark tans, bleach blonde hair and bubble gum pink lips are long behind us (thank God!)
Cameron Diaz. I have always really loved her. She always looks amazing on the red carpet, in my opinion. The dress she wore was stunning. Sparkly amazingness. I loved the 1920’s feel of her hair and she really pulled of the bold red lips. She is just so cute. I think she is beautiful.
Wearing another gorgeous sparkly (and age-inappropriate gown) was Miley Cyrus.
Sigh. I absolutely love love love this dress. But Miley, really? I mean it’s gorgeous…and she looks really good in it…but it just seems like a really age inappropriate dress. I don’t mean that it shows too much skin or anything just the style, shape and overall look of the dress seems like it would be better suited for someone at least in their 20’s.
I can’t even explain how gorgeous I think Rachel McAdams is. She even went to the same University as me! Her dress, hair, makeup etc was just so her. The top of the dress actually reminds me of my wedding gown…come to think of it so does the skirt.
I love the watercolor-looking print. Just so soft and pretty. The dress makes such a statement, but doesn’t overshadow her. She’s got a strong/powerful look. I always notice she’s able to seamlessly go from blonde to dark to medium brown hair or no makeup to lots of makeup without sacrificing her overall look. As an actress, she is one of my favorites.
Then, there’s Oscar- winner (yay!) Sandra Bullock. I have to say, I didn’t love her dress, but her hair and makeup was amazing. How is she in her forties? seriously? She is so fresh looking and beautiful. Look at her skin!
I know her lipstick color was either a love it or hate it thing, but I thought she looked amazing. I get stopped a lot in random places and told I look like her, so maybe I’m a little biased. I want to AGE like her! She looked great. I love her hair too. If you want to know how her stylist did it, you can read Glamour’s blog entry about it here.
I also stumbled upon this picture from a post-Oscar party of the stunning Kate Beckinsale (she is my husband’s dream woman, looks wise.) Just look at her makeup. Perfection:
Love her. Always so pretty and soft. Her hair looks great too, I imagine this is either a faux bob or she had extensions in her hair before, since I’ve recently seen her with super long locks.
Something else I noticed on the red carpet this year were soft, voluminous kind of messy/undone updos, which I am loving. I think I might actually try to wear my hair up more, if it can still be volumized, soft, full and pretty. Miley’s hair in particular I thought was well-styled.
What were your favorite Oscars looks? Let me know in the comments below!

Veronika.
I LOVED Cameron's dress too. It was just gorgeous! Miley's eye makeup was fabulous I thought! Sandra looked absolutely stunning! I thought there were a lot of beautiful dresses & I agree with you about the updos. Just gorgeous!!
Kate Beckinsale actually just got her hair cut last week, so that's her real hair.
Haha, I posted my picks (and misses) at almost the exact same time as you and definitely agree with you on a few things! Miley's dress was not age appropriate, Sandra's dress was not love and Rachel was gorgeous! I was surprised as I read blogs today that more people didn't agree with us (lol) on these 3 points, but I'm glad to see you do. Great post, obviously 😛
Oooh I totally agree with you on Amanda! I did a post about everything actually, check it out!

I loved Jennifer Lopez' look. She's usually a hit or miss for me, but I think she looked so great last night.
As for Miley, I thought her dress was "event appropriate". I mean, it is the Oscars. She could have probably been a little more playful, but I think it shows a mature Miley, which we rarely see from her. I get really tired of her plaid shirts, ripped jeans, and bed-head. This was a bit of fresh air, in my opinion!
I so agree with nearly all your picks!!! I love Rachel, she is just so lovely and classy. I am not in love with her dress, but she looked beautiful. Cameron's dress was gorgeous with all the sparkles. I think Miley's dress fit her beautifully, but I agree about it not being age appropriate.
xo
Leslie- good point! I thought she looked gorgeous, i guess the dress just felt a little older to me…but you're right, it was event- appropriate 🙂
love love love Rachel McAdams dress…it's so floaty and ethereal and dreamy.
I loved so many of the dresses! All of the sparkles shimmering with each step was just gorgeous! I think most of the dresses looked much better live on the red carpet than they photographed for some reason. Is it just me?
Rachel McAdams is by far my favorite. She looks beautiful. I love that she's blonde again. I agree, she can go back and forth between color really well. I'd love to be her current blonde. It's the end all be all color for me.
Kate Beckinsale is my husband's perfect woman too. It's one of the only women we agree on looks wise. She's stunning!
Jennifer Lopez is a hit or miss for me as well but I think she rocked it last night! I love love love Cameron's dress as well. It was so gorgeous and sparkly. One dress I actually didn't like was Nicole Richie's. I usually dig her hippie bohemian look but for some reason her dress just struck me as shapeless and unflattering. Oh and I may sound crazy but is anyone else having a bit of deja vu with Demi Moore's dress? I feel like someone else wore it before! Maybe it was just a really similar version? Not sure….
– Jennifer
I love and agree with all your pics!! You remind me of Kate B!!! ANd I adore Rachel Adams as well! She is stunning, classy and not over the top!
Oh and thanks for entering my giveaway, glad you liked it xoxo!
I loved Miley's dress (agree with the age inappropriate) and Anna Kendrick.
Did you go to UOFT?
I have to say I did NOT like Amanda Seyfried's look at all, it was just blah to me and I didn't like her hair so greased back. Nonetheless Rachel McAdams can do NO WRONG, ever!!!!! Whether it's fashion or acting, she nails it every single time and I honestly cannot figure out for the life of me why she doens't have the 'stardom' or recognition that half the other mediocre actresses get. I'm so happy Sandra B won and she totally dressed her part! I don't get why everyone says Miley's dress is so age inappropriate I mean she looks fab and what's a couple years difference? its not like she's 10? Overall the oscars were a big fashion YAY for me this year.

natasha- No, I went to York U.
I see what you mean about miley cyrus' dress. she doesn't stand well as it is [very immaturely] and it thus doesn't fall well on her. too mature for her.
I do LOVE rachel's dress – the colors work very well for her. I almost feel like the lack of spray tanned-ness makes a lot of dresses wash out some ladies' skin. I feel you almost need one or the other. A dress that works with your skin tone or spray tan [blech].
neon
I loved Sarah Jessica Parker's dress! She always takes risks, some good and some not so good which I respect!
I loved all the looks! Especially Rachel McAdams, and Miley's dress. I didn't think the dress was "age in-appropriate" at all… Heck, visit a local highschool on prom night and you'll see a LOT worse!
Not really a Miley fan, but it was classy and she looked presentable.
