But it’s all for a good cause, I promise.
I’ve had the privilege of working on an amazing project called Strides Across Texas. Last January, a radio DJ here in Houston (Kevin Kline) decided to train for an entire year to run a nearly 500- mile, 13-day ultramarathon across Texas to raise awareness about pediatric cancer, and to raise money for Texas Children’s Cancer Center.
My husband and I drove to Dallas this weekend because I did the PR for the entire campaign, so I wanted to be there to coordinate the media at the kick-off on Sunday morning (hello 5 a.m. wakeup time!)
If you’re interested to learn more about what Kevin’s doing, or you’d like to donate, click here. Kevin will run through the holidays, giving up Christmas to give back to the children and families who need it most.
I can’t seem to travel to any city without going shopping (I think I’m just naturally drawn to the mall, no matter where I am.) On Saurday when I had a break from working, I somehow convinced my husband to take me to the largest and most amazing mall in Dallas, called NorthPark Center.
NorthPark literally had every store I would want to shop at, aside from Club Monaco. I couldn’t believe the wide array of stores, and don’t even get me started on how awesome their Forever 21 was (it’s the Dallas flagship store, similar to our downtown one in the Houston Pavillions and the one at Memorial City Mall.) I like to see the kind of stock other stores have. I always end up finding something I haven’t seen at stores in my area. I only purchsed two tops, but the store had a lot of cute items.
What’s the best mall you’ve ever shopped at? What did you like about it over other malls you’ve shopped at?
For me, the most important thing is variety of stores I like to shop at. I like it when they are all in one place, and when the stores are large and have a lot of stock. I saw things at the Victoria’s Secret in Dallas that I haven’t seen here in Houston, but it could just be that they just got some new stock in.
So tell me, what makes your shopping experience a great one? Is it all your favorite stores in one place? the size of the stores? the look of the mall? where the mall is located? how much parking is available, etc?
xoxo,
Veronika.
Sounds like a great cause, what a great way to be giving for the holidays!!
I'm so with you on this – my first marketing position had me traveling all over North America – I visited 13 different cities in 8 months! It was an amazing experience and I hit up every major shopping area in each city during my downtime! My favs? Always the walking malls, the outdoor ones with street lights. I guess that's more for ambiance and less for the shops, though!
My favorite mall in the world besides the Mall of America in MPLS is the Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale, AZ. Awesome.
Wow, that ultramarathon is intense. What a great cause!
For me, the two most important factors are 1) all of my favorite stores located in the mall and 2) the size of the stores (to ensure lots of selection!)
wow a marathon is impressive enough, that sounds insane!!
My 'local' mall is the largest on the east coast, so I'm sorta spoiled now. It has everything and anything. I laugh when I go back to where I grew up and the mall that I thought was so great is sooo dumpy.
Northpark does have a Club Monaco! Though its not showing up on their website, I grew up in Dallas and am certain they have one. It's across from Banana Republic, next to Starbucks, near Dillards. Glad you had a chance to visit the MOST amazing mall I know, and a jewel that I'm proud to have in my hometown 🙂
I love Northpark! I'm from Dallas so I'm there at least once a week. It's my favorite because it has all my favorite stores in one place and the stores are large.
They use to have a Club Monaco but it just closed a few months ago. I have no idea why, I guess maybe it wasn't doing that great there. Everytime I ever went by it was always pretty empty. The only one I know of in Dallas now is at the Galleria.
Mall of America (Mpls.) has pretty much everything you could ever need. I am spoiled to live so close to it. Allegedly the first ever indoor mall is here, too, Southdale in Edina, MN. Little trivia for you 🙂
King of Prussia — it's the largest mall on the East Coast and happens to be my local mall too (I was just there tonight, along with a bajillion other people!). It's bright inside, not at all cramped, and has tons of amazing stores in all price ranges. 🙂
I so have that tan shirt with the rose sleeves. Be careful and only handwash. I kinda messed up the flowers 🙁
