Oh My Goodness. Ladies I am running on a few hours of sleep right now so I’m trying my best to be coherent.
I got up at 7 a.m. after working until 1 a.m. at a gala (I didn’t get to bed until 2 a.m.) and headed to Target for the highly anticipated Jason Wu collection.
I got there at abut 7:35 and there was a line but it wasn’t too horrible. The doors opened promptly at 8 a.m. and we ascended like (fashionable) vultures onto the four racks full of items from the collection.
I literally grabbed one of almost everything so I could try it all on to review on my blog. I bought five pieces that I am thrilled with. I’ll show you those first and then I’ll post what I didn’t buy. I also filmed a video for my YouTube channel, you can check it out here.
The first piece was this cotton dress— $34.99—I got a size small. I love it. I don’t usually go for red but this was just too pretty to pass up! I am also showing it in a size medium (third pic). I stuck with the small because it was more fitted and overall looked better on.
Next up was the dress everyone grabbed off the racks with reckless abandon. The navy dress with the stripes. I got a size 6. I also tried on a 4 which fit very nice through the top but it was too short—luckily I met a nice girl in line named Natalia and I happily gave her my 4. Dresses for all!
Then, I got this adorable pink, black and yellow dress. It looked so short on the model online, but I got a size large and it is a great length for work! I honestly don’t mind sizing up if the garment still looks great belted. I loved the pattern on this one too much not to go for it.

I really wanted the navy dress and the white one, but my store didn't have them. I am bummed, but did order 2 online, so hopefully those are good fits. The cat shirt is so cute and went so fast, I didn't even get a chance to look at it!

I LOVE that pearl dress… I'm 9 months pregnant right now, so clearly I won't be able to try it on, but if my Target still has one I will definitely be purchasing (and hoping it will fit!)

Thank you for the super early IRLs! It all looks great on you but my favs are the first dress and the striped pink/gold/black one. Agree with your sizing up philosophy for length gain…so may are "stuck" on the size label. Good scores! Now, go to bed! 🙂

While the first two dresses were cute, I'm not sure I see the obsession with this line. Maybe I'm just not fashionable enough, but it looks like these things could have been bought at JCrew or something of the like. What am I missing?

@sara—i thought most of the shirts were something I could get anywhere else so I just bought the dresses which I felt were harder to come by 🙂 I did like the sandy pink blouse but it was too short.

Wow, the dresses look stunning on you, Veronika. This line was made for someone with your figure/height. I especially love the blue A-line one and the one with pearls around the neck. Maybe if you check back you might find a returned size 6 to exchange it for? The 8 does look decent but the 6 in the blue dress fits you so perfectly, I wonder how that size in the pearl dress would look on you. Great scores overall! No A-lined dresses were to be seen by the time I went in.

I noticed they didn't have the white dress with the black lace trim which is the one I really wanted…they didn't have one in the store and I got there right when it opened. It was a mad dash!

Aww, I love the pieces you ended up getting. I wanted that navy dress sooo badly, but it was long gone before I got to my neighborhood Target. (And they only had a couple small racks for the whole collection, so it was probably never there to begin with). All I ended up being able to find in my size was the pink tee with the black bow at the neck, but it's such a pretty and wearable collection I wish I could have found more. Thanks for the review of the line. I skipped the madness when it debuted because luckily my Target doesnt usually sell out. They even had Missoni days after it launched. Will look for that cotton dress with the stripes.
I don't really get what the big deal is about this collection either. Some of the dresses are cute, but they're nothing that would have me at a store at 8am. I actually think some of the dresses and blouses are too "old lady-ish". But then again, I am not necessarily at the front lines of the fashion world ! 🙂

Those are so cute! I totally would have been at the store at 8 too if I had known it was going to be such an awesome collection. When I went to Target this evening there were three of the lace grey shirts in XL and one not so great blue blouse. You wouldn't believe what some of those dresses are selling for on ebay right now :/

I got the blue dress and sized up for length, too. I tried on the pink and black dress but put it back because I thought it felt a bit lingerie, but seeing it on you I kind of wish I would have grabbed it. It's too late now, my Target was picked clean by the time I left the store at 9:00/

I forgot about the launch and happened upon the collection during my 10 am Sunday target run. The San Felipe store still had quite a bit, but the items look much better on you! I guess they're built for a taller frame because they looked boxey on my barely 5'4" frame. I loved the concept of the dress with pearls, but it totally washed me out.
I love the first dress and the shirt with the black tie! I hope there are some things left at my local Target!

I went to two different Targets in my area and I did not find a single item in either store. So they either didnt get it or were complete sold out by 10:00 am. I did not even find any signs. Did anyone else have the same results?

They have been replenishing the site all day here and there. The cycle dress with pearls was available for about 30 min today. Be on the lookout if you want to size down to a 6!
You and I got the same pink + yellow + black dress! I couldn't hit the stores Sunday morning since I had to work (I dealt with the dumb online ordering fiasco instead) but it looks fab on you! So excited to see it in person.
Bummed to see you didn't get the Blush dotted blouse–that one is high up on my list and I thought it looked great on you! Hope it's as pretty in person… *wiggles*

I also really like that shirt with the cat on it…I think I might have found a store by me that still has it 🙂 I actually went to Target today after seeing this post just to see what they had left. The dress I got is Navy with flowers and cute yellow belt. I am already imagining what shoes and cardigan or jacket I can pair it with to wear to work!
