The Carrie belt. Most fashionistas know what I am talking about before even needing to see a photo. Yes, it is the ever so sought-after Patricia Field belt that Carrie wore with numerous outfits in “The Sex and the City Movie” (which came out on my birthday, by the way!)
I have always coveted this rocker-esque belt, but balked at its $150 price tag. I wanted to invest in it, but I was never motivated enough to do it. Then, last weekend, stunningly gorgeous blogger Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere reignited my desire for the belt when I saw this pic:
“I have to have it,” I thought to myself. I scoured Forever 21’s website and found this similar belt, for $8.80:
After seeing Emily use this belt with multiple outfits I just knew it would be the prefect addition to my growing belt collection. I can see it working beautifully with dresses, a trench coat, loose bohemian-like tops…the possibilities seem endless. I will take some photos of it with various outfits when it arrives.
I also took some photos today of my outfit of the day. Today was a more casual day, but I still felt like wearing a dress, so I just went for it.
I'd love to see you add some color to your outfits. I've noticed that most of your clothes are black or gray. You should spice things up by mixing in your basics with some nice BOLD colors. You'd look great (not that you already don't)!
I love the way belts look, but I'm way too self conscious about my waistline to wear a cinching one.
anon – I actually wear bright colors all of the time (my t-shirt at the gym today was a light hot pink!). I absolutely LOVE bright colors, I just happen to usually take pics of my outfits when I am more dressed up, and most of my dressier clothes are darker colors. I will definitely try to post some brighter outfits to show a little variety, thanks for the comment 🙂
10 years- My waist is MUCH smaller than my hips, so I actually find that emphasizing my waist makes me more hourglass which I like. It's all about finding the right belt for the right outfit. I also like to wear skinny belts in brighter colors or patterns/textures with pencil skirts.
I love belts, especially with dresses. Great way to make your waist looks smaller.
I knew I'd regret not buying that necklace. It's so cute on!
I knew what belt you were talking about at just the title! You're a girl after my own heart! I love how you paired gray on gray- super cute!
I didn't even realize that belt was in the movie. I actually have that studded belt I bought last year and actually wear it all the time.
